Marc Stein: Nine who secured these all-you-can-get deals, which pay out 90-plus percent of their 2019-20 salaries by April 1, are represented by Klutch Sports on contracts structured and negotiated by agent Rich Paul and attorney Mark Termini. The nine Klutch players are naturally led by LeBron James and include John Wall, Kentavious-Caldwell Pope, Dejounte Murray, Miles Bridges, Darius Bazley, Darius Garland, Terrance Ferguson and Trey Lyles. Next season it will be 10 when Draymond Green’s contract extension kicks in.
Ferguson went through the same process last season with his third-year option, but he said the feeling doesn’t change. “I’m still excited,” he said. “I’m excited for each and every year I come back.” Ferguson handed the paperwork to his mother, Rachelle Holdman, soon after he got it. “I was like ‘Here, take this’ and she put it inside her little ‘important’ folder,” Ferguson said. “That’s a good memory to have.”
The Oklahoma City Thunder exercised its fourth-year contract option on guard Terrance Ferguson and its third-year contract option on guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, it was announced today by Executive Vice President and General Manager Sam Presti. Ferguson has appeared in 135 games (86 starts) with the Thunder, averaging 5.2 points on 35.6 percent shooting from three-point range to go along with 1.4 rebounds in 20.0 minutes. During the 2018-19 season, Ferguson started in each of his 74 appearances and during the month of January, he led the team in three-point shooting (47.9 percent).
