Darren Wolfson: Former #Twolves guard Sean Kilpatrick is moving closer to finding a training camp home. The Pelicans are very much in the mix, I hear.
Matt Ramker: Proud to announce Christian Wood @Chriswood_5 has agreed to terms with the Philadelphia 76ers. #Sixers #ASM #UNLV #FindlayPrep
A: I would not be surprised, with 13 fully guaranteed contracts and with Tyler Johnson's partially guaranteed deal, if the Heat open the season either without a 15th player, or with someone not on a guaranteed deal, perhaps cycling through a variety of players with that roster spot. Ennis could elect to bypass his guarantee in order to remain on more of a game-by-game basis, or the Heat could take an extended look at one of their undrafted free agents in camp, perhaps sending one of those players to the D-League while he remains under guaranteed contract. There could be something to be said about retaining flexibility with that roster spot, as long as the Heat believe they have enough depth at small forward. And I believe that remains a question mark.
Late last week, Markel Brown got another tranche of his guaranteed second year, bringing his total to $200,000. On the first day of training camp, he will get fully guaranteed or $845,059. Next up among the five non-guaranteed deals will be Quincy Miller, who'll get $100,000 on October 28, if he makes the team; and Willie Reed, who becomes fully guaranteed that same day. Donald Sloan has to wait till November 1 to get another $200,000 and Ry Boatright until November 15, when he will get $125,000 if he's still on the team. All salaries become guaranteed on January 10.
Ira Winderman: Heat expected to bring in summer-league center Joshua Smith for a workout/tryout next week. Could fill final camp spot.
Barry Jackson: Besides signing VCU guard Briante Weber, Heat also has been speaking to 360-pound Georgetown center Joshua Smith about possible camp invite.
Webster is set to fly to America tomorrow for an NBA workout in an attempt to secure a training camp invite, according to Australian website Downtownball. It has not been confirmed at this stage which team Webster will be working out for, but a source indicated it was the New Orleans Pelicans.

Ros Gold-Onwude: At Trailblazers shootaround today Damian Lillard strongly addressed the rumors and noise: “I’m not asking for a trade.” “My intentions are to be in Portland and to figure it out.” He added he’s in the office w/ Chauncey everyday trying to find solutions, not planning an exit.
Nonetheless, Vogel added he does not harbor any concerns about his job security and that he feels the front office supports him. Buss also noted that Vogel attended a Lakers’ season-ticket holder event on Monday night that also included Buss, Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in attendance. “We’re as connected as any organization can be,” Buss said. “I really don’t know what you’re looking for me to say. I would say until we’re 100 percent healthy, I won’t make any judgments about anything.”
“We’re focused on the job,” Vogel said. “We stay in the moment, focus on the task at hand and try to win the next game and try to get some momentum around our season.” Therefore, Vogel downplayed whether he feels the criticism is unfair or justified. “It’s not up to me,” Vogel said. “I don’t spend a lot of time thinking about it. Really just focused on the job.”
One of sports TV’s power couples has broken up — ex-NBA player Jalen Rose filed for divorce from ESPN host Molly Qerim, TMZ Sports has learned. Court records show Rose filed docs earlier this year … kickstarting the process to end their 2 and a half year marriage. Sources tell us the breakup was amicable and both sides remain cordial.
Mark Cuban: So I was curious to compare 3PT shooting this yr vs last. https://basketball-reference.com/leagues/NBA_2021_totals.html For the top 20 3PAs, last yr for the season, 38.6%, this yr 35%. Crazy thing, this yr 11 of the 20 are < 35%, last yr only 2 were. And only ONE is above 40% this yr vs 4 last yr. Even crazier, if you go to the top 50 in 3PA, last year only ONE player shot under 34%, this year 17 players are shooting under 34%. It's not how the game is being called. I think we are still adjusting to the new ball. Jim Bowling: Isn’t it literally the same leather with a different logo stamped on it? Mark Cuban: No. The seams are completely different. How it breaks in is different and more. Each manufacturer takes their own approach.
