Detroit Pistons: Roster update: The #Pistons have waived forward Danny Granger.
More on Training Camp Cuts
The Los Angeles Lakers have waived guard Jabari Brown, it was announced today by General Manager Mitch Kupchak. Brown appeared in six games for the Lakers this preseason, averaging 6.0 points, 1.5 rebounds, and 0.8 assists in 14.3 minutes per game. In 19 games (five starts) for the Lakers last season, Brown, who was signed to a multi-year contract on April 1, averaged 11.9 points, 2.1 assists, and 1.9 rebounds in 29.9 minutes per contest.
Shams Charania: The Indiana Pacers have waived guard Toney Douglas, league source tells Yahoo Sports. Douglas had made a case to earn roster spot.
Keith Pompey: #Sixers release J.P Tokoto.
Brad Turner: Lakers make it official that they waived Jabari Brown. Metta World Peace on 15 man roster. https://t.co/ZxsQHpqFt8
Shams Charania: The Los Angeles Lakers are waiving guard Jabari Brown, allowing Metta World Peace to make 15-man roster, league sources tell Yahoo.
Danny Granger is likely to be the last one cut, a decision that could come soon after Van Gundy said Sunday he remains at home in Arizona rehabbing his knee. About the possibility of trading him? "It's doubtful," he said. "We're probably sort of at the end of the road with him. We took it as far as we could, hoping to get a look at him, but he hasn't been ready to come back. So we'll go with the 15 guys that are here."
Bobby Marks: In regards to compensation for the non-guaran. players still under contract. If waived tomorrow their salary will count as a 2 day cap hit. However because they likely receive training camp compensation ($2k per week), the team only is responsible for the difference. If Jabari Brown is waived tomorrow his 2 day pay out is $9,972 (2 x $4,971) minus $8,000 (4 weeks x $2k). He will earn $1,972 from LAL.
Keith Langlois: SVG says #Pistons have waived Ryan Boatright, as expected. He'll head to @grdleague as an "affiliate player."
Under the NBA's "affiliate-player" rule with the D-League, Whittington, Benson and Weber are expected to be signed by the Skyforce. Recently released Heat guard Corey Hawkins also is expected to transition to the Skyforce as a designated Heat affiliate player, with NBA teams allowed to designate up to four such players. Such players must finalize their 2015-16 D-League commitments by Thursday. Because Kelley played with the Skyforce two seasons ago, he is considered a "returning-rights player" and also would be under Skyforce control if he were to elect to play in the D-League this season.
The Lakers will wait until at least Sunday to make their final roster trim, Scott said, keeping alive the battle between Metta World Peace and Jabari Brown. It could come down to Sunday's practice, Scott suggested. "Either way I go, it's going to be a very tough [decision], but I've got to do it," he said.
“We’re a better team with Metta,” said Randle, who praised World Peace for teaching him about offensive and defensive rotations, footwork, mental preparation and playing off the ball. “It’s not our decision if he’s on the team or not. But Metta’s knowledge and wisdom that he brings to this team is amazing. It’s fun playing with him.”
Marc Stein: Four NBA teams have one cut still to make: Mavericks, Pistons, Pacers and Lakers all have to get from 16 players to 15 by Monday afternoon

The Suns will take a 14-man roster to opening night Wednesday after deciding to keep power forward Cory Jefferson and waive center Henry Sims. The Suns already had met the roster minimum with 13 players on guaranteed contracts but invited Jefferson and Sims to training camp on non-guaranteed deals with a chance to make the regular-season roster.

Ainge declined to say who the odd-man out would be if the Celtics can’t swing a trade, but multiple league sources have told CSNNE.com that Perry Jones III would be the player Boston would likely waive if they can’t find a trade partner.
With the roster at 19, the Raptors will have to cut four players on Saturday, the final day to waive non-guaranteed contracts. Though the team likes all of its training camp invitees, there is no room for Ronald Roberts, Axel Toupane, Michale Kyser or Shannon Scott.
The Orlando Magic have waived center Nnanna Egwu (EGG-woo), General Manager Rob Hennigan announced following tonight’s preseason game. Orlando’s roster now stands at 14 (attached below).

Detroit Pistons: ROSTER UPDATE: We have waived forward Cartier Martin, guard/forward Adonis Thomas and center Jordan Bachynski.
Cartier Martin had a fully guaranteed salary after the Pistons curiously gave him a player option when signing him last year. He’s a spot-up outside shooter who works hard enough defensively to play when his shot is falling, which it wasn’t last season. He has hung around the periphery of the NBA for years, but apparently there were no takers in a trade.
Richardson likely isn’t headed anywhere. But the Heat could opt to release Ennis (his entire $845,059 salary becomes guaranteed if he’s on the roster for Wednesday’s regular-season opener) and leave a spot open for potential three-point shooting help should it become available on the waiver wire this weekend. So far this preseason, outside of Gerald Green (14 of 34 from three-point range, 41.2 percent) and Tyler Johnson (6 of 12), the rest of the Heat has struggled from beyond the arc, going a combined 20 of 120 (16.7 percent).
The Utah Jazz announced today that the team has waived forward E.J. Singler. Following the moves, Utah’s roster now stands at 15 players.
Ryan McDonald: As expected, the Jazz have waived E.J. Singler. We should see him on the Idaho Stampede roster this season
The Sacramento Kings announced today they have waived guard David Stockton, according to Kings Vice President and General Manager Vlade Divac. The Kings roster stands at 15. Stockton totaled four points (1-7 FG, 0-1 3pt, 2-2 FT), five rebounds and four assists in 16 minutes off the bench in three preseason contests with the Kings.
James Ham: The Sacramento Kings have waived point guard David Stockton. He is definitely a candidate for the Reno Bighorns.
Shams Charania: Sacramento has waived guard David Stockton, son of Hall of Famer John Stockton, source tells Yahoo. Eric Moreland secures Kings roster.
The Oklahoma City Thunder waived guards Michael Qualls, Julyan Stone and Dez Wells along with forward Talib Zanna, it was announced today by Executive Vice President and General Manager Sam Presti. Stone appeared in one preseason game with the Thunder and recorded one rebound while logging four minutes of action. Wells saw action in one preseason game and tallied one point and one steal in five minutes of play. Zanna played in four preseason games for Oklahoma City and averaged 2.0 points and 1.5 rebounds in 5.9 minutes. Qualls did not make a preseason appearance for the Thunder. Oklahoma City’s roster now stands at 15.
KC Johnson: Bulls waive Jordan Crawford and Marcus Simmons.
To make room on the roster for Tristan Thompson, the Cleveland Cavaliers will release camp invite Nick Minnerath, league sources informed Northeast Ohio Media Group.
The 27-year-old forward will play for the Canton Charge, the Cavaliers' Development League affiliate.
Bobby Marks: $75k cap hit for the Hawks. Since no @nbadleague team for ATL, Petteway if he chooses can enter the draft pool.
"Jimmer thinks everybody is stupid," said an NBA assistant who worked with Fredette. "He thinks everybody needs to come and just turn over their offense and let him shoot it anytime he wants. That's not how the league works."
After squandering his opportunity in New Orleans, Fredette was admittedly surprised last summer when he was working out in Denver and the Spurs called to offer him a half-year guaranteed contract. The situation seemed to be his last best chance to stick around in a selfless Spurs system that has revived a few stagnant careers. But the NBA assistant coach never expected the partnership to go anywhere. "He won't adjust his game for it," he said. "He'll tell you, 'This is what I did at BYU.' Well, BYU, that's a long time ago."
Fredette's former coach suggested that the 26-year-old pattern his next incarnation after Los Angeles Clippers guard J.J. Redick, a former unconscious shooting stud at Duke who needed nearly four seasons to establish himself in the league. "J.J. is a good example for him," one of his NBA coaches said. "He had done a lot of prolific scoring in college, but came in and eventually figured out the NBA. He changed his body. He learned the league. He's had a hell of a career, but it wasn't easy for him early on."
DM: Your roster stands at 17* now, how will you make those final decisions? Do you think you’ll have a 15th guy? Have you made that decision yet? Or how will you view these last games with these final two or three roster spots? (* NOTE: Since the recording of this interview, the Magic have also waived Melvin Ejim.) RH: I think we’re going to take this next week to sort of cement that in our minds. I think there’s a chance we could keep 15, there’s a chance we don’t. A lot is going to depend on the next couple of days and certainly the last few preseason games. We’ll have to make a decision here by this weekend at the latest and we will. I’m not sure yet. Don’t know.
Orlando Magic: The Orlando Magic have waived C Greg Stiemsma. The roster now stands at 15.
Chris Vivlamore: The Hawks have released Terran Petteway. Roster stands at 17.
John Denton: @OrlandoMagic have waived F Melvin Ejim. Ejim, who got a camp invite after a strong summer league, was beat out by Devyn Marble.
Serena Winters: For what it's worth, Byron Scott called Metta World Peace a "very valuable asset."
Mark Medina: Byron Scott said Marcelo Huertas has "pretty much solidified a spot." Roster cuts will come down to Metta World Peace & Jabari Brown
Teams around the league began trimming their rosters for the regular season last week but the Wizards aren’t expected to make their cuts until after their current road trip, which concludes in Montreal on Friday, because their roster is so depleted with injuries. Washington already has 15 players with guaranteed contracts, so barring a last-minute change, the five non-guaranteed training camp invitees — Toure’ Murry, Ish Smith, Josh Harrellson, Jaleel Roberts and Jaron Johnson — will be released.
The San Antonio Spurs today announced that the team has waived Jimmer Fredette, Youssou Ndoye, Keifer Sykes and Deshaun Thomas. San Antonio's training camp roster now stands at 16 players.
Adrian Wojnarowski: Wisconsin-Green Bay's Keifer Sykes, released by San Antonio, plans to join Spurs' D-League affiliate in Austin, league source tells Yahoo.
The San Antonio Spurs will waive guard Jimmer Fredette on Wednesday, making the former No. 10 overall draft pick a free agent, league sources told Yahoo Sports. As part of his partially guaranteed deal to go to camp with San Antonio, the Spurs paid Fredette $500,000 for the season.
The Milwaukee Bucks have requested waivers on guard Jorge Gutierrez and forwards Marcus Landry and Josh Powell, General Manager John Hammond announced today.
Shams Charania: The San Antonio Spurs are waiving guard Jimmer Fredette today, league sources tell Yahoo Sports.
Shams Charania: San Antonio has waived center Youssou Ndoye and 2013 second-round pick, forward Deshaun Thomas, sources tell Yahoo.
Mike Bresnahan: Lakers hope Upshaw clears waivers + signs with their D-League team. He was cut because of "big-time learning curve on both ends," Byron said
It was viewed by some as a mild surprise when the Lakers waived Robert Upshaw instead of Robert Sacre on Tuesday, but people within the organization were unanimous in the decision. Sacre keeps the locker room light with his offbeat humor, can play some defense as the team’s third-string center, and has a guaranteed contract for just under $1 million.
According to a team announcement Tuesday afternoon, the Celtics have waived three of their four camp invitees in Levi Randolph, Coty Clarke and Malcolm Miller, trimming their roster down to 17 players.
