Ron Baker, a shooting guard from Wichita State, will work out for the Hawks in advance on the NBA Draft on Friday. Baker, 6-foot-4, worked out for the Jazz on Sunday and told reporters that he had a session scheduled with the Hawks. The senior averaged 13.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 31.6 minutes in 34 games for the Shockers in a season that included a run in the NCAA men’s basketball tournament.
Also, the Hawks had Thon Maker in for a workout recently. The Sudanese-Australian is a 7-1 power forward/center who finished his high school career in Canada. He projects as a second-round pick.

Brown checks a few other boxes on NBA wish lists. He previously worked out in Boston (the Celtics have the No. 3 pick) and New Orleans (No. 6). “Not concerned with being a top-five pick in the draft,” Brown said. “I want to be a top-five player in the league.”
Neither scenario is unrealistic. As in most draft years, once you get past the top 20 or so players, the difference in talent narrows. After that, it’s about finding someone with one or two NBA-caliber skills and determining the best fits. Zimmerman isn’t sure exactly how teams view him. “I have no clue where they’re looking at me,” he said after his Pistons workout, “but I do like to look at that as a strength, to be able to play and guard the four and the five.”

On Monday, the Celtics brought in 12 more players for pre-draft workouts, six apiece in two sessions. The workouts featured two from Kansas (Perry Ellis, Hunter Mickelson) and two from Brad Stevens’ old employer – Butler (Kellen Dunham, Roosevelt Jones).
The Celtics also worked out two players from France (Isaia Cordinier, Guerschon Yabuele) and one from Spain (Jordan Sakho). “We really enjoy it. Get to know their level of English and get them outside of their systems a little bit, compare them against some of the college guys. I think it’s very valuable.”
What are they looking for from the European kids? “Really, the same stuff as the college guys. We look for just how they’ll fit with the Celtics and get to know their personalities a little bit,” Austin Ainge said. “Obviously, most of the things we judge them on we see in the games but this is a just a nice little piece. It is hard for young guys to earn minutes on professional teams sometimes. Sometimes we have a limited number of minutes we’ve seen them. This is always good to have them here.
Paul Coro: California swingman Jaylen Brown will work out alone for the Suns today. He is the highest-rated draft prospect to visit Phoenix thus far.

Born in Sudan and raised in Australia, Maker has been known to NBA scouts for quite a while but seen rarely. And not at all as a college player. Ian Begley: Isaiah Whitehead has several fans in the Knicks organization, including star forward Carmelo Anthony. Whitehead has worked out with Anthony at the Knicks star's Terminal 23 gym in Manhattan. Anthony came away from the workouts impressed with the Seton Hall guard, according to people in the gym. Whitehead also worked out for the Knicks on Saturday at their training facility in Tarrytown. At 6-5, Whitehead has the kind of size that Phil Jackson coveted in his backcourt during his coaching days with the Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers. Oftentimes, the Knicks have to consider how a potential prospect will handle life in New York. That doesn't seem like it would be an issue for Whitehead. The 21-year-old thrived at Coney Island's Lincoln High School, winning a city championship at Madison Square Garden; he also was named MVP of the 2016 Big East Tournament at MSG, helping Seton Hall stun eventual national champion Villanova in the title game. By all accounts, Whitehead is well-mannered and well-liked by teammates. The Knicks, who plan to acquire a draft pick, may have to trade to a spot in the late first round to land Whitehead.
Adam Zagoria: Former St. Joe's star DeAndre' Bembry worked today for Golden State after Clippers this week.
Adam Zagoria: Former Iona G A.J. English works out this coming week for the Bulls, Magic and Raptors.

Kyle Wiltjer had good things to say about Saturday’s workout and the group of NBA hopefuls who joined him in Utah for this audition with the Jazz. The former All-West Coast Conference first-teamer tried to show the Jazz that he can play tough and be aggressive, that he can fight through adversity in a draining tryout and that he can provide coveted stretch-the-floor shooting like he did for the Zags. “I think,” he said, “I can help a team out by doing that.”

Eversley also referred to Cordinier as a strong leaper capable of making plays at the rim.
Darren Wolfson: Utah big man Jakob Poeltl currently scheduled for a #Twolves visit + workout June 17, I hear. Layden/Thibs due-dilegence continues.
On Saturday, the Sixers were one of 20 teams that sent a representative to the Elite Skills Training pro day held at Chaminade-Madonna prep school north of Miami.
