After missing a week of action due to a mild MCL sprain in his right knee and a strained right calf, D’Angelo Russell was back with his teammates as a full participant in Sunday’s practice. Russell did not participate in Saturday’s informal team workout, though he has been working individually through activities like ladder drills and sprints.

Lakers second-year guard D’Angelo Russell will be out between 1-2 weeks after an MRI taken on Saturday showed a mild MCL sprain, strained right calf and a bone bruise. The Lakers had already ruled him out for Sunday’s road game against the Dallas Mavericks and also did not travel with the team. Though Russell underwent an MRI on Saturday morning, the results did not become available until later in the evening.

Lakers starting point guard D'Angelo Russell exited Friday's 108-96 win over the Indiana Pacers after suffering a mild MCL sprain in his right knee as well as a strained right calf. He is scheduled to have an MRI on Saturday. "Just a little pain," Russell said. "Awkward position that I fell in caused a little pain, but I'm all right."
He will sit out for at least two more weeks, including when the Lakers (8-9) play host to the Atlanta Hawks (10-6) on Sunday at Staples Center. Russell plans to travel with the team this week to New Orleans (Tuesday), Chicago (Wednesday), Toronto (Friday) and Memphis (Saturday) to continue his rehab. “Definitely don’t want to force anything back,” said Russell, who will be reevalauted later in the week. “I feel like I got to be 100 percent perfect before I step back on the floor.”

Los Angeles Lakers guard D’Angelo Russell received a PRP injection in his left knee today, it was announced by the team. The procedure was performed in Los Angeles by Dr. Steve Yoon. Russell is expected to be out a minimum of two weeks, and will be re-evaluated in one week.
