North Carolina’s championship-winning junior swingman Justin Jackson had participated in six NBA workouts prior to Tuesday’s visit to the Knicks’ Tarrytown compound. This one — off the bat — felt different. “It was more teaching than all the other ones,’’ Jackson told The Post in a phone interview. “With the triangle and the other types of offenses they run, I would say it was a little more mental than physical.”
Justin Jackson: “Phil [Jackson] stepped in a few times to say what he wanted to see, but it was mostly coach [Jeff] Hornacek running the workout.’’
Mark Medina: Lakers are finalizing details in bringing Lonzo Ball in for a second workout. It appears likely Markelle Fultz will have one, too.
Mike Trudell: Jackson thinks it could be “really special” playing with Ingram. Noted how GSW+CLE didn’t play centers in “winning time.” Versatility a key.
Former Kentucky point guard De’Aaron Fox will work out for the 76ers this weekend, tentatively set for Saturday, a source said Tuesday. Fox is one of the players the Sixers are considering to select with the third overall pick in the June 22 draft. He worked out for the Los Angeles Lakers, who will pick second, on Tuesday.
In other predraft news, a source said the Sixers will work out former Miami shooting guard Davon Reed on Friday. Reed could be a solid pickup for the team in the second round.
Ian Begley: Nevada's Cameron Oliver has workouts scheduled this week with the Nets (Wednesday) and Knicks (Thursday), per league sources. Oliver, widely projected as a second-round pick, has an intriguing game and frame. He is 6-8 with a 7-1 wingspan and a near 40-inch vertical -- and he's flashed an ability to knock down perimeter shots at the college level. Oliver averaged 16 points, 8.7 rebounds and 2.6 blocks per game last season at Nevada and has worked out for several teams ahead of the draft. The Knicks own two second-round picks (44 and 58) and the Nets own the 57th pick in the second round and the 22nd and 27th picks in the first round.
The Pacers will hold their seventh pre-draft workout in preparation for the 2017 NBA Draft on Wednesday, June 14. The six players scheduled to participate in workouts are Dylan Ennis (Oregon), Jawun Evans (Oklahoma State), Amile Jefferson (Duke), Zach LeDay (Virginia Tech), Paul Watson, Jr. (Fresno State), and Nigel Williams-Goss (Gonzaga).
Jeff Goodman‏: High lottery pick Josh Jackson canceled today's workout with the Boston Celtics, source told me and @MarcJSpearsESPN.
Ryan Wolstat: Seth Allen Naz Mitrou-Long Sindarius Thornwell Dwayne Bacon Chance Comanche Isaac Humphries in to workout for the Raptors tomorrow.
Adam Zagoria: Projected No. 1 pick Markelle Fultz is expected to meet this week with the Lakers, per source. Has met with Celtics
Michael Scotto: Sources: Brooklyn Nets will bring in Terrance Ferguson as part of a group workout on June 18. He's a 6-7 SG with athleticism & 3-point range
A few sources tell me that Ball has not had great pre-Draft workouts. Now, to be fair, his game is not conducive to one on none workouts; that is, doing drills and things by himself out on the floor. Ball isn’t going to wow you with incredible athletic feats. Where he shines is with other players, when he can get them the ball in rhythm and on their hands with pinpoint passes. It’s ultimately hard to see Magic Johnson passing on such an L.A.-centric player like Ball.
Spencer Percy: Jaron Blossomgame works out for #Hornets tomorrow. Fringe 1st rd. pick last season, but withdrew his name to return for Sr. year at Clemson.
Many qualities have made the Lakers impressed with Ball, including his leadership potential, passing and scoring. They are not impressed, however, with his level of conditioning. Some observers of Ball’s workout last Wednesday thought he came in out of shape. Ball acknowledged that the “drills get you tired, so you got to stay focused.”
Los Angeles Lakers‏: Monday morning the #LakeShow will host six more draft prospects: Isaiah Briscoe, Torian Graham, Isaac Humphries, Wesley Iwundu, Luke Kornet and Ben Moore.
Terrance Ferguson is considered a first round talent with most projections placing him in the mid-to-late 20s. The Blazers have three first round picks in the June 22 draft - 15, 20 and 26 - and could use one of those selections on Ferguson to bolster their wing rotation. But there figures to be plenty of interest in Ferguson who has worked out for the Los Angeles Lakers (pick No. 28), Indiana Pacers (18), Chicago Bulls (16) and Denver Nuggets (13) and still has visits with the Charlotte Hornets (11), Miami Heat (14), Detroit Pistons (12), Brooklyn Nets (22) and Milwaukee Bucks (17).
The New York Knicks have a workout scheduled before the draft with Louisville guard Donovan Mitchell, per sources with knowledge of the club's workout schedule. Mitchell, who stands 6-foot-3 with a 6-10 wingspan, intrigues members of the organization because of his profile as an elite perimeter defender -- an area where the club has struggled lately.
The Lakers were “very impressed” with N.C. State point guard Dennis Smith Jr. during his workout Sunday, a source told ZAGSBLOG, and are reportedly “hopeful” of bringing in Washington guard Markelle Fultz this week. The Lakers pick at No. 2 in the June 22nd NBA Draft and have been linked to several lead guards, including Lonzo Ball, who met with the Lakers last week, De’Aaron Fox, Smith Jr and now Fultz. “They have some decisions to make,” the source said.
The Lakers are not expected to select Dennis Smith Jr. with their No. 2 pick, which will be reserved either for Lonzo Ball, Josh Jackson, De’Aaron Fox or Markelle Fultz if he is available. But the Lakers brought Smith Jr. in for a workout in case they trade down.
Ryan Ward: More Lakers pre-draft workouts on Monday: Isaiah Briscoe, Torian Graham, Isaac Humphries, Wesley Iwundu, Luke Kornet, Ben Moore
Keith Pompey: #Sixers to work out Kyle Kuzma, Jaron Blossomgame, V.J. Beachem, Billy Garrett, Dominique Hawkins and Jalen Moore on Monday.
Most respected mock drafts have Tatum going fourth or fifth, but given his offensive skill, it wouldn't be a surprise if he went earlier. In addition to Tatum, the Suns are expected to consider Kentucky point guard De'Aaron Fox, Kansas small forward Josh Jackson and Florida State forward Jonathan Isaac. That's assuming UCLA point guard Lonzo Ball doesn't fall. "In my opinion, Jayson Tatum is out there by himself," ESPN college analyst and former NBA veteran LaPhonso Ellis said in a recent interview on the draft's talent at small forward.
The Utah Jazz are bringing in 11 players in their next round of pre-draft workouts on Sunday. Headlining the pair of workouts is UCLA big TJ Leaf, who averaged 16.4 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game last season and is projected as a first-round pick in the June 22 NBA Draft.
The six players participating in Sunday’s first Jazz workout include Kentucky guard Isaiah Briscoe, Oregon guard Dylan Ennis, South Carolina wing PJ Dozier, Kansas State wing Wesley Iwundu, Indiana big Thomas Bryant and North Carolina big Tony Bradley.
The second group working out for the Jazz includes Leaf, Kentucky guard Dominique Hawkins, Central Michigan guard Marcus Keene, Louisiana Tech big Erik McCree and Virginia Tech big Zach LeDay.
The Hawks had a couple of big men in for workouts on Friday with Indiana center Thomas Bryant and BYU center Eric Mika visiting Atlanta. The two were part of a workout group that included North Carolina small forward Justin Jackson, Kansas guard Frank Mason, Kansas State guard Wesley Iwundu and Notre Dame small forward V.J. Beachem.
Bryant already has worked out with the Heat, Celtics, Magic, Nets and Sixers. He will meet with the Hawks, Jazz, Trail Blazers, Bulls, Kings and Pacers before the draft.
Ian Begley: The Knicks have a workout scheduled with Wisconsin's Nigel Hayes this coming week, league sources told ESPN. The Knicks have two second-rounders (44 and 58) and have worked out several potential second rounders like Hayes recently. Hayes measured at 6-8 at the NBA Draft Combine with a 7-3 wingspan and some college observers see him as having the potential to be a versatile defender at the next level with a strong outside shot – something the Knicks certainly could use…. In addition to working out for the Knicks, UNC's Kennedy Meeks also worked out for the Brooklyn Nets last week and some people familiar with the workout said the big man excelled in the workout. Meeks is projected by some as a late second-round pick.
Tony Jones: Utah forward Kyle Kuzma will workout for the Philadelphia 76ers Monday, a source tells The Tribune
Leo Beas: Zach Collins working out with the Kings
The New York Knicks are expected to get a first-hand look at two of the top shooters in the NBA draft in the coming days. The club has scheduled private workouts with Kentucky’s Malik Monk and Duke’s Luke Kennard, sources with knowledge of the Knicks’ workout schedule told ESPN.
Ian Begley: Wisconsin star Bronson Koenig is scheduled to work out for the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday, per league sources. Koenig heads to a workout for the Houston Rockets after the Clippers' workout, sources say. Koenig is Wisconsin's all-time leader in made 3-pointers and the 6-4 combo guard may be on the radar for teams with a late second-round pick. He's had workouts for several NBA teams leading up to the draft.
As they continue to prepare for the 2017 NBA Draft on June 22, the Portland Trail Blazers are hosting Kentucky forward Bam Adebayo, Florida State guard Dwayne Bacon, Oregon guard/forward Dillon Brooks, Adelaide 36ers guard/forward Terrance Ferguson, Wisconsin forward Nigel Hayes and Maryland guard Melo Trimble for a pre-draft workout at their practice facility in Tualatin. Saturday's workout is the fourth of six scheduled workouts. The Trail Blazers currently own the 15th, 20th and 26th picks.
Vincent Ellis: Three potential lottery picks in today for #Pistons. Duke's Luke Kennard is likely headliner.
The following is a list of scheduled attendees for the Sacramento Kings sixth Pre-Draft workout, which will take place at the Kings Practice Facility on June 10, 2017: Joe Rahon, Milton Doyle, Semi Ojeleye, Rashawn Thomas, Eric Mika and Matt Williams.
“Teams have seen me play 40 games in college,” Bell said. “They know what kind of player I am. I’m not looking to score most of the time.” That attitude – along with freakish athletic ability – is why the 6-foot-9 Bell is a viable candidate for the Suns with the first of their two second-round picks (No. 32 overall). The Suns have scorers. But they ranked last in opponents’ points allowed last year (113.3) and 26th in opponents’ field-goal percentage (46.9)
Among the five other players who worked out: Former Phoenix Brophy Prep star Tim Kempton Jr., a Lehigh product and son of Suns radio color analyst Tim Kempton. Also working out: French guard Mathias Lessort, Miami guard Davon Reed, New Mexico forward Tim Williams and Syracuse guard Andrew White III.
The Kings will host two groups on Saturday, starting with the following six players: Joe Rahon (G – 6’2” 195 lbs.) Saint Mary’s Milton Doyle (G – 6’3” 178 lbs.) Loyola Semi Ojeleye (F – 6’5” 241 lbs.) SMU Matt Williams (G – 6’5” 220 lbs.) Central Florida RaShawn Thomas (F – 6’6” 233 lbs.) Texas A&M Corpus Christi Eric Mika (C – 6’10” 233 lbs.) BYU
Sacramento will host 6-foot-11 Jarrett Allen in the team’s second workout of the day. The freshman out of Texas boasts a 7-foot-5 wingspan and is expected to go somewhere between 10 and 20 in the first round
The Knicks have scheduled a workout with Duke shooting guard Luke Kennard, sources with knowledge the team's workout schedule told ESPN.
Ailene Voisin: Projected overall No.1 draft pick Markelle Fultz still visiting Sacramento soon to meet with Kings officials, but no workout is planned.
Mike Bresnahan: NC State PG Dennis Smith among the six players working out Sunday for Lakers. Syracuse PF Tyler Lydon will also be there.
Brad Turner: Lakers predraft workouts for Sunday: Wesley Alves da Silva, Milton Doyle, Jeremy Hollowell, Tyler Lydon, Dennis Smith Jr., Matt Thomas
The Knicks are scheduled to workout Kentucky's Malik Monk early next week, sources with the knowledge of the team's workout schedule told ESPN. Monk, one of the top guards in the draft, also has worked out for the Phoenix Suns and Orlando Magic.
Tyler Dorsey on Friday completed his eighth predraft workout with four more still ahead of him. He also went through two days of athletic testing and scrimmaging at the draft combine in Chicago in May. By the time the draft rolls around, Dorsey will have met with more than half the teams in the league.
He worked out for the Portland Trail Blazers at their practice facility in Tualatin on Friday. Two days earlier he was in New Jersey, working out for the Philadelphia 76ers.
Brett Dawson: According to his Instagram, Oklahoma State point guard Jawun Evans worked out for the Thunder.
Lonzo Ball was fine. He was humble and respectful in conversation over meals. He shot the ball well on the court. He very well might be the Los Angeles Lakers’ draft pick in two weeks’ time. Yet Ball also didn’t blow the Lakers away or seal any deal in the time he spent with their officials Tuesday and Wednesday, according to sources.
Adam Zagoria: Former Kentucky and @rc_basketball G Isaiah Briscoe works out today for the Blazers, who have a slew of picks
Ailene Voisin: Hearing late tonight that possible overall No.1 draft pick Markelle Fultz is working out for Kings on Sunday. Media availability unclear ...
Jessica Camerato: Thomas Bryant (Indiana) worked out w Heat Celtics Magic Nets Sixers. As of yest, still had Hawks Jazz Trail Blazers Bulls Kings Pacers.
Tony Jones: Purdue forward and Salt Lake City native Caleb Swanigan will work out for the Utah Jazz Saturday, sources tell The Salt Lake Tribune

Tom Thibodeau feels no pressure with James Dolan expectations

On the heels of James Dolan publicly declaring his playoff expectations for this season, Knicks’ coach Tom Thibodeau said he doesn’t feel pressure to reach the owner’s goal. “I never feel pressure because I know what I put into each day,” Thibodeau said. “I think anybody who puts everything they have into each day, you never feel pressure.” Dolan told WFAN on Friday that he “fully expects” the Knicks to reach the playoffs and “that will definitely be a benchmark.” Left unsaid was what would occur if the Knicks fail, but coaches are often the first on the chopping block when an owner is displeased.

“As I’ve gone through free agency this time around, of course I’m thinking of where I can compete for my third championship, but the words home and family are what I kept coming back to … I need to be there for my daughter, for my son, for my wife,” Parker posted. “I can’t be without them for parts of the season when Lailaa is in school and I won’t miss her volleyball games or school dances simply because of distance. Lailaa starts high school in August and I need to be there for her, just as she’s been there for me. “After evaluating the landscape together with my family, we’ve decided the Las Vegas Aces are the right organization for us at this point in our lives.”
