Nonetheless, the agent said Hayward was “strongly leaning” toward Boston but was still undecided. The Celtics hadn’t heard from his camp at that point, either. “People can say now that that report was right. It was not,” Bartelstein said. “Anyone that says they knew Gordon knew what he was doing didn’t know. How could they know? Because he didn’t know.”

Boston surpassed Miami the following day after Hayward and his wife, Robyn, got the chance to spend time with Stevens, general manager Danny Ainge and the Celtics. “I think this is the spot,” Hayward told his agent during a phone call from the plane Sunday night. “I think this is the right place for me.” Added Bartelstein, “The whole Celtic mystique and tradition was really inspiring for him to be a part of that.”
Utah Jazz All-Star free agent Gordon Hayward has agreed to a four-year, $128 million maximum contract to sign with the Boston Celtics, league sources told The Vertical. Hayward’s contract will have a player option in the fourth year, league sources told The Vertical.
With Gordon Hayward now agreeing to a four-year $127M max contract, Celtics management now has a series of transactions to do in order to create cap space. The Celtics would have to pull the qualifying offer on Kelly Olynyk, renounce free agents Jonas Jerebko, James Young, Gerald Green and waive the contracts of Jordan Mickey and Demetrius Jackson (or trade).
Gordon Hayward: My meetings with all three teams during this process — Miami, Boston and Utah — were just unbelievable. They couldn’t have been more impressive. Each meeting left me convinced that the team I’d just met with was the right fit. And even after I slept on it last night, while I was leaning heavily in one direction … I still wasn’t 100-percent convinced about what I wanted to do.
Gordon Hayward: I know that will be tough to hear for Jazz fans — and I really want you all to know that you mean the world to me and my family. Over the past few days, I’ve been genuinely torn. And I know that this process isn’t easy on the fans, either. So I just want to be as straight-up as possible about why I’m coming to Boston.
Gordon Hayward: This has been the toughest decision that I’ve ever had to make in my life. This weekend has probably been the longest weekend of my life. And today … well, today has definitely been one of the craziest days of my life. But I wanted to make sure that I got this right.
League sources said that the Celtics remained in contact with Hayward’s representatives on Tuesday, too, adding that there was little clarity about the situation on Boston’s end as of Tuesday night. When afternoon turned to evening, all sides mostly went silent, stirring rampant speculation about what the holdup might be.
A Hayward Decision would be quite helpful right about now. After all, he has some experience with it. That video comes from 2011 as Hayward parodied LeBron’s Decisionto announce that he was joining the IGN Pro League, which is a professional eSports league.

Barry Jackson: We reported pessimism on Hayward/Heat front this AM, and ESPN's Woj reports Heat was eliminated from consideration last night. His agent hasn't addressed that, but Heat deserves to be informed if this is true so Miami can start making other moves.
When asked about a timetable as to when the 27-year-old All-Star would make a decision, Bartelstein said there is no definitive timeline at this moment. As far as the reports about his client agreeing to come to Boston, Bartelstein said it was something that clearly bothered Hayward. “He’s upset someone would report that,” Bartelstein said. “He’s trying to re-evaluate everything.”
David Locke: Really disappointing news for Jazz Nation. Gordon Hayward grew up with us and became a star under the tutelage of the Utah Jazz. Compounding the frustration is the Jazz did everything right over the last months to secure a contract from Gordon including consulting with him on moves. It feels as thought consciously or unconsciously Gordon has his mind made up in this process a long time ago. The quote from Sam Amick that he was torn makes me think the Jazz rocked his world in the last few weeks and made him reconsider.
Gordon Hayward has committed to sign with the Boston Celtics, sources told ESPN's Chris Haynes, choosing their offer over the Utah Jazz, his team since 2010, and the Miami Heat. Hayward will be reunited with Brad Stevens in Boston, who also coached him in college at Butler.

ESPN's Chris Haynes reported the Boston Celtics feel "really, really good" about their chances of landing top free agent Gordon Hayward. After meeting with the Celtics, Miami Heat and Utah Jazz, Hayward reportedly slept on his decision Monday night. He is expected to reveal his choice either Tuesday or Wednesday. "I will say this: I'm hearing Boston is feeling really good about their chances of getting him," Haynes said on television. "I don't know what that means, but I've been talking to people in Boston. They feel really, really good about their shot. So it's going to be tough. He met with Utah in San Diego for over three hours last night. Ricky Rubio actually flew from Spain to go down there and be present in that meeting. So they're laying it all out. And like I said, it would be really tough on the Jazz faithful if he were to bolt, knowing what the Jazz did to try putting themselves in position."
Austin Horton: Not from Hayward (obviously) or the Jazz, but I'm told the decision will be between Utah & Boston, is expected to be announced tomorrow🤞
Sam Amick: At the risk of tugging at Jazz fans' heart strings, I'm told Utah made a very strong impression on Gordon Hayward & he's genuinely torn.
According to sources, that was all part of the pitch to the unrestricted free agent small forward Monday afternoon at Hayward's home in San Diego: Make the team whole. The two sides met for almost four hours, sources say, covering a variety of topics, and pitching the potential of Hayward and Rubio playing together. It was Hayward's third meeting in as many days. He met with the Miami Heat Saturday, and the Boston Celtics on Sunday. "The meeting went well," a source told The Tribune.
Monday represented the last chance for the Jazz to impress Hayward on the direction of the franchise, Utah's ability to win now and in the future. In doing so, the Jazz made a significant effort. They flew in Rubio from Spain. Jazz owner Gail Miller made the trip, along with President Steve Starks, general manager Dennis Lindsey and coach Quin Snyder. Gobert was in the room, along with Rodney Hood and Ingles.
Hayward will make a decision in short order, sources say. But for now, the speculation, the recruiting, it's over.
Chris Forsberg: Brad Stevens couldn’t talk about Gordon Hayward meeting. Ended session with reporters by noting, “Sorry I missed everybody’s main question."
Tony Jones: The Jazz meeting with Gordon Hayward is ongoing, sources tell The Tribune
Ramona Shelburne: For those reading tea leaves on Gordon Hayward, word is he told Jazz he wanted Rubio & would love to play w/ him
Tony Jones: Important note I've been told heading into meeting today: if the Jazz secure Hayward, they won't be done trying to upgrade the roster
Adam Himmelsbach: Source says Gordon Hayward isn't locked into any timeline on deciding. Wants to get through meeting with Jazz today and then will regroup.
Gary Washburn: NBA source on #Celtics-Hayward meeting: "Felt like the communication was excellent and the case was made for Gordon being a great fit.”
Jay King: Source says Gordon Hayward appears to be flying. And happy. And wearing sunglasses.

Gary Washburn: Gordon Hayward meeting with #Celtics has concluded, according to a source. He now heads to San Diego to meet with the #Jazz on Monday
Owner Gail Miller and her family, general manager Dennis Lindsey, coach Quin Snyder and team president Steve Starks are among the members of the Jazz who will meet with the All-Star small forward. Their objective, of course, is to convince him to return home to Utah while visiting with him in his home away from home in Southern California.
Hey @DJJazzyJody and @tribjazz do you think the jazz will sign Hayward? If not are they gonna be any good? 😂 Tony Jones: My sources tell me he hopes to make a decision by Tuesday or Wednesday. Then, we will all know twitter.com/kedrickblack/s…
Rudy Gobert is killing it on Twitter. A day after he got NBA fans all riled up with just six emojis, the Jazz center was back on Twitter doing what he does best: Rejecting shots. Soccer superstar Antoine Griezmann, who also hails from France, tweeted out his support for Gordon Hayward signing with the Celtics.

The Heat plans to sit tight, and not make any significant moves, until Hayward makes a decision, which is expected a day or two after he visits Boston on Sunday and Utah on Monday. The Heat would be left with $5.7 million in cap space if it signs Hayward to a max deal, starting at $29.7 million.

The Heat made their presentation to free agent Gordon Hayward on Saturday, and center Hassan Whiteside was one of the players at the recruiting session held in Miami. But even after the Heat’s meeting with Hayward was over, Whiteside seemed to continue recruiting Hayward … and other free agents to Miami. The Heat’s center posted a series of Snapchat videos Saturday night that highlight the benefits of living in Miami.
Rudy Gobert: 🌴🗑☘️💩🎷🏆
Joe Ingles will stay with the Utah Jazz with a new four-year, $52 million contract, his agent told The Tribune on Saturday night. Ingles' return is one of two key moves the Jazz wanted to make early in free agency; the other is trying to keep Gordon Hayward, who looks to make a decision between Utah, Miami and Boston next week.
The Heat made a strong presentation to free agent Gordon Hayward on Saturday and emerged believing it went very well. Hayward was greeted by five Heat players - Hassan Whiteside, Udonis Haslem, Josh Richardson, Tyler Johnson and free agent James Johnson. He also met with president Pat Riley, coach Erik Spoelstra, Alonzo Mourning and several other coaches and executives.
If Hayward eschews the Heat, the Heat likely will try to retain most of last year’s team and also could make a play for a few veterans, with Rudy Gay among those interested in Miami. But the Heat believes it left a very strong impression on Hayward, amid an earlier report by The Ringer and NBA TV that Miami is now considered the favorite by several people in the league.
Mark Murphy: Celtics will keep their meeting with Gordon Hayward relatively small tomorrow, with IT, Horford, Brad Stevens, Danny Ainge and ownership.
The Miami Heat are turning up the … heat … on their pitch to free agency’s central figure. Gordon Hayward has never worn a Heat jersey, of course, but he’s in town as Miami’s brass pitches him.

Heat forward James Johnson, who becomes a free agent early Saturday morning, said Friday that he would like to remain with the Heat and is willing to wait out a decision by Jazz free agent Gordon Hayward – Miami’s top target - even if the Heat has to put Johnson’s situation on hold for several days. “I'm a patient guy,” Johnson told me at DJ Irie’s annual golf tournament to benefit the Irie Foundation. “They can take as long as they want. My mindset is winning. I think Hayward can help us win and I'm all for it.
Scott Agness: Gordon Hayward and his wife, Robyn, are in Miami and will meet with Heat officials today. Then Boston and Utah. vigilantsports.com/2017/06/28/gor…

Here’s the deal … Jeffrey was at Casa Amigos bar in Scottsdale when he “fell and hit his head,” according to police. They say Jordan then became combative with security who were attempting to escort him out of the bar to receive medical attention. Scottsdale PD, who were in the area for an unrelated call, were summoned to assist. Cops interviewed bar staff, and eventually deemed the incident “medical in nature,” not criminal. An ambulance was called to transport JJ to a hospital.
