The Knicks are recruiting Perry with a promotion to the GM title, and Kings ownership has shown a willingness to allow Perry to leave for a more prominent title and dream job in New York, league sources said. Perry would report to Steve Mills, who will elevate to Knicks president, according to sources.
With training camp set to kick off next week, the Nuggets have organized several group workouts in various locations. The team recently ran stairs at the Red Rocks Park & Amphitheatre while taking part in MMA-style training with Jokic in attendance for both activities. “You would never know that he won MVP,” Hyland said on Tuesday. “It’s like he doesn’t want to talk about it with the way he carries himself. It’s crazy! I don’t know how to describe it. When he walks into the locker room, or when he walks into the gym, you would never know he won MVP with the way he carries himself. (It’s like) he’s grinding for another MVP or the next contract. He is 1-of-1, for sure.”
During an appearance on “Scoop B Radio” podcast with Brandon Robinson, O’Neal talked about the Nets and how they put up minimal effort against him. O’Neal, who was recognized as NBA Finals MVP, averaged 36.3 points, 12.3 rebounds and 2.8 blocks per game, and he and led the Los Angeles Lakers to a four-game sweep of the Nets. “It was boring,” O’Neal said of squaring off against the Nets that year. “I actually got mad when we were playing in Jersey. You think [then-Nets center] Todd MacCulloch is going to stop me at the crib in Jersey in front of my grandma and grandpa? S—! No. Stop it.”
In an appearance on Michael Porter Jr.’s Curious Mike program, Roy recently sat down and got to talking about the Blazers title team that never was when Greg Oden first joined as a rookie. “I was like, man. I remember calling my dad and he was like, ‘how good is he?’ And I was like, ‘oh, we can win a championship.’ For the first time in my life, playing with him I was like we could win a championship. He was that good.” “Now I’m not saying we could win it that year, but having him on the team we had everything we needed to win a championship because he filled a lot of those holes. Once he got comfortable in games, I was telling Nate [McMillan], ‘I’m kinda bored.’ because Greg does so much.”
The Blazers guard also definitively shattered Greg Oden’s “bust” label. He was adamant that beyond the injuries, he was the furthest thing from a bust. “He was a special player and I hate when people try to say “bust”. But if he was never injured, there’s no way in hell he was a bust. He had Hall of Fame talent. I just wish the world would have got a chance to see that.

There are many who believed then and continue to insist now that Damian Lillard was about ready to ask out; a source with knowledge of the situation believes Lillard is held back by both his loyalty to Portland and an unwillingness to go back on things he’s already said about sticking things out. He ultimately decided to give this another go, and Lillard has been provided roster upgrades and had a big voice in the coaching search. He may still ask out down the road, but only time will tell how long this honeymoon lasts.
It is clear Simmons wants out though and when you consider that alongside his poor form in the playoffs, the Sixers have little leverage to work with and the offers have reflected that. “The Sixers are yet to find a deal they are willing to do,” Wojnarowski said. “They want Ben Simmons in camp, they want to see his trade value improve and then find a deal out in the marketplace but right now they are going to do it with him on the sidelines because his intention now is to not play another game for that organisation.
“They’ve asked for a steep return. It is hard to trade a star player when you are a contender because you are trying to get back the pieces that keep you a contender now. “The offers on the marketplace just did not meet the threshold that Daryl Morey and Doc Rivers want in Philly. Now there is a standoff.”
