The start of Heat training camp is still weeks away, but donāt tell Goran Dragic that. The 31-year-old Heat point guard already looks like heās ready. Dragic has spent the offseason in Slovenia preparing for EuroBasket, and he started the tournament with an efficient 30-point performance to lead Slovenia to a 90-81 win over Poland on Thursday in Helsinki, Finland.
Motiejunas, who travelled to Texas to be next to his girlfriend whoās giving birth, was quite unfortunate to have stumbled upon extreme weather conditions in Houston. That being said, all flights from Houston have been either cancelled or postponed until further notice, something that might keep Motiejunas in the US longer than expected. As Donatas Urbonas reports, coach Adomaitis hopes the player will make it and join the teamās practice later on the 30th.
David Pick: NBA free-agent Alex Len has withdrawn from the Ukraine national-team and won't participate in FIBA's EuroBasket.
The Golden State Warriors big man had his first full practice yesterday, he is completely healed and despite missing the recent āAcropolis tournamentā in Athens, he will be available for the Georgian national team for the start of the official games in the Eurobasket tournament.
In his recent interview with Gazzetta Dello Sport, the Italian international stated that this could be his last EuroBasket with Italian NT. āMy last competition with Italy? Maybe. Weāll see what happens but in my mind, this could be my last Eurobasket. There is a question mark, but I only focus at one thing at a time.ā Belinelli told the Italian media.
Speaking on the Greek newspaper āTo Vimaā, Missas gave more details about the health condition of the Greek freak, which is the reason that keeps him out of the Eurobasket. āThe story with Giannis is crystal clearā, said Missas. āGiannis wanted to play. That was his goal from the get-go, despite the condition of his knee, which wouldnāt create him any major issue. From day one, he was under great pressure from the Bucks, but he tried his best, giving 100% in every practice. The final decision has to do with him failing in the Bucksā test. And thatās the end of discussionā.
According to Missas, if Giannis was 100% healthy, then he would play in the Eurobasket: āAfter the first stage of our training camp the other players of the team were informed about the situation with Giannis, his health and the upcoming trip to China. I have also to say that last year Giannis put on hold his deal with the Bucks in order to play in the pre-Olympic qualifying tournament. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but we canāt forget that Giannis is also a 22 years old kid. And in order to close the whole issue, I have to say that if Giannis was healthy and the Bucks asked him not to play, he would playā.
David Pickā: Source: NYK star Kristaps Porzingis is committed to playing for Latvia. His recent absence won't keep him out of EuroBasket.
You are hopeful that you will be able to play in the EuroBasket? Zaza Pachulia: āAbsolutely. Thatās the plan, thatās my goal. But health is very important obviously. Especially when you talk about ankle. The doctors are paying much attention to it. The Golden State Warriors doctors are also following the situation of course. Obviously, weāre not going to hurt myself. You have to be very smart basically to see where you are and see how much you can do.
What have you heard back from the Warriors? Zaza Pachulia: āIāve been in touch with the Warriors daily and giving them updates. What kind of rehabs we are doing and how my ankle feels before the practice, after the practice. All the time. Iāve been giving them all informations regarding my rehabilitation, they know everything of course. down to the last detail.ā
Georgia captain Zaza Pachulia hopes that he wonāt be included in the above list and that heāll shine via his participation in the tournament and not his absence. The 2017 NBA champion sustained an ankle injury during a prep game vs Czech Republic in Tbilisi and hasnāt played ever since. Pachulia revealed the exact status of his injury and rehabilitation process to Eurohoops, expressing his optimism that he will be able to check in at full strength for the EuroBasket, that is kicks off in less than a week from now.
If you could estimate your possibilities of participating in the EuroBasket what percentage would you give? Zaza Pachulia: āCantā say for sure honestly. This injury is based on day-to-day reactions. This morning I had the best workout since I got injured. I did the most things. It depends how Iām going to react each day. If it continues to keep progressing well and not make a step back, most likely Iāll play. Butā¦. if I feel some pain after one of the work-outs and I feel worse, then obviously weāll shut it down. Iām living the situation every day and every moment seeing how we go.ā
Goran Dragic will retire from the Slovenian national team after Eurobasket 2017, the Miami Heat guard announced on his Twitter profile.
David 'Dubi' Pick: Source: Georgia plans on activating Zaza Pachulia for EuroBasket as the GSW's center remains cautious while he rehabs his ankle.
Harris Stavrou: Zaza Pachulia is probably OUT of Eurobasket 2017, according to Georgian NT's head coach Ilias Zouros. Another huge blow for the tournament.
But his heart and mind are with his national team comrades. This is why shortly following his return from China, the Milwaukee Bucks point-forward paid a visit to āOAKAā arena, home of the Greek squadās practices, in order to talk with his teammates and the national teamās coaching staff.
Before departing for Milwaukee, where he will begin treatment for his knee, Giannis will also attend Wednesdayās (23/8) prep game between of Greece against Zaza Pachuliaās Georgia for the āAkropolis International Tournamentā.
According to the Serbian Federation press release āthe chronic issue of Teodosic, due to which he missed part of the training camp and all the preparation games, prevents him from being completely healthy at the start of the tournament. Coach Aleksandar Djordjevic and Milos Teodosic, after consulting with the medical team of our national team and the LA Clippers, jointly made this difficult decisionā.
"Giannis recently left his national team to travel to China for an appearance. Here he was visited by Bucks Head of Strength and Conditioning Suki Hobson. Hobson put Giannis through a series of exercises to evaluate his knee and reported that he was still experiencing significant pain on basic movements. "After reviewing the report filed by Hobson, Dr. Raasch recommended that due to the recurring knee pain, Giannis should not continue to attempt to play at this time and that the best course of action would be for him to return to Milwaukee for further evaluation and to begin a structured, daily rehabilitation program.
That assertion led the NBA to put out a statement on Saturday night refuting any notion that Antetokounmpo's injury was staged. "The NBA and the Milwaukee Bucks have followed all appropriate protocol under the NBA-FIBA agreement," said Tim Frank, the NBA's senior vice president of basketball communications. "Giannis has an injury that has been confirmed through multiple examinations and any suggestion to the contrary is false."
The Bucks took things a step further with a statement that was released early Sunday morning. The statement, which came from general manager Jon Horst, detailed the events that led to Antetokounmpo removing himself from EuroBasket competition. The full statement from Horst is as follows: "After a brief time in training with the Greek National Team, Giannis reported to our basketball staff that he was having right anterior knee pain following certain movements. At this time, we contacted the Greek National Team and requested that Giannis stop on-court running and jumping for a period of time to rest. Bucks Team Physician Dr. William Raasch consulted with Dr. Voulgaropoulos of the Greek National Team regarding the injury and as a result Giannis continued to sit out from training.
Greek Basketball Federation: The simultaneous briefing by the manager of the Milwaukee Bucks and by Giannis Antetokounmpo himself via phone and social media from distant China ā and not in the proper formal form ā for his inability to play for the Greek national team, brought us sadness due to this great loss, but unfortunately it does not surprise us.
Greek Basketball Federation: A series of clues by which we were particularly worried about since Giannis arrived in Greece and the national team training camp started, had created the conviction of an organized and well-staged plan by the NBA franchise in which Giannis has signed. Everything was in full knowledge of the NBA, if not encouraged by the NBA, and the athlete was put in a very difficult place and ultimately was obliged today to inform that he canāt be a member of the national team.
Emiliano Carchia: OFFICIAL: Giannis Antetokounmpo will miss Eurobasket
Giannis Antetokounmpo: I want everyone to be informed by me that I will not be able to play for the Greek national team in the upcoming Eurobasket. All this time I was pressuring myself to practice. I was trying to fool myself and not feel the pain, hoping that I will be ready for the official games. I failed in the tests I was put to and the reason was the pain I felt from the first seconds. I can accept the truth and deal with it in a mature manner. I have to work and improve as much as I can the condition of my knee.
Giannis Antetokounmpo: This is by far the biggest disappointment that I have felt so far in my career. I want to wish the best from the bottom of my heart to my teammates and coaches. The national team is my favorite team and in the future I will prove together with my teammates that we can achieve high goals and make all the Greeks happy.
Gasol, currently with the Spanish national side as they prepare for Eurobasket was understandably shaken, as were all the players of the national team. The San Antonio Spurs forward, who hails from Barcelona sent a message of union. āWe send a message of support, commotion and pain for yesterdayās attack, both on Las Ramblas and in Cambrils, we are all very much affected,ā Gasol told reporters in Melilla, where the Spanish national team is based.
āLetās hope that the wounded will recover. We also thank the armed forces that protect the citizens and have helped in this critical moment, and to everyone who has been able to contribute in this critical situation. To unity and cohesion. Together, union is the way to overcome tragedyā, he added.
Pau Gasol talked about the upcoming Eurobasket and he didnāt forget the big absence of the Spanish national team. Speaking about Sergio Llullās injury he said: āIt was an emotional and psychological blow to the team. He is a guy you want to play with and a major contributor to the team. It will be difficult to cover him, but each player has to contribute. I wish we can win the championship and dedicate our success to Sergi, who is an important part of this teamā.
Giannis Antetokounmpo was dominant in his first international match of the summer, but he will be disappearing again next week. The Milwaukee Bucks star will be absent from Greeceās Eurobasket schedule due to an upcoming tour of China, which takes place from August 15-20.
David 'Dubi' Pick: Source: Espana star PG Sergio Llull of has been ruled OUT of EuroBasket and Euroleague for Real Madrid with injured ACL.
Rubio also focuses on Sergio Rodriguez, who believes that complements the team perfectly. āWe got together very well. Heās a more scoring guard and Iām more of a distributor in the game. We are going with a lot of confidence and we can both end the game at any time.ā As for the chances that Spain has in the Eurobasket, he explains that āWe go with a lot of confidence. We know a lot but there are very new faces and we have to adapt a little.ā

As the Greek Basketball Federation announced, Giannis Antetokounmpo will refrain from the national teamās practices for the next five days. After feeling a right-knee discomfort, the Milwaukee Bucks point forward underwent an MRI which revealed that thereās nothing serious. Still, Giannis needs to stay out of practices for the aforementioned period.
āIt was just a mistake, especially since I end up hurting myself, unfortunately. Iām extra sorry for my teammates to whom I apologize,ā Gallinari said to Italian news agency ANSA. I repeat, my teammates didnāt deserve all this. Now I have to keep my hand steady for a while and stay home. Then when the rehabilitation ends Iāll head back to L.A.ā

His estimated recovery time will take 40 days and heās essentially ruled out of the EuroBasket that begins on August 31.
Gallinari sustained the injury following a punch he threw on Jito Kok of the Dutch team. The two players were involved in a fight during the game which started when Kok held the Clippers forward back way too aggressively to get a better position for a rebound. Gallinari reacted by hitting his opponent and throwing a full swing at him which was the punch that caused the injury.
Gallinari will miss the rest of Eurobasket play for Italy, but the expectation is that he'll be ready for Clippers training camp in September. He's expected to need a month of rest and rehabilitation. The Clippers will follow up soon with their own examination.
Orazio Cauchi: Danilo Gallinari announced that he suffered a right hand fracture. He's out for Eurobasket. Devastating loss for Italian NT
Adrian Wojnarowski: Sources: Clippers forward Danilo Gallinari has suffered right thumb injury, but expected to be ready for training camp. No surgery expected.

āSpain has the quality to fight for the championshipā, said the San Antonio Spurs big man and he explained how this can be done. āThe goal is to start working and prepare as we do every year. The tournament takes you where you deserve. We have enough quality to qualify for the final phase and fight for the championship title. We have great ambitionā.
New Indiana Pacers recruit Domantas Sabonis has been withdrawn from the Lithuanian national side this summer.
The reasoning behind the 21-year-oldās sudden absence is due to the Pacers declining that he be taken away from club duties in the off-season. The Pacersā trainers will work with Sabonis to prepare him for the new season ahead.
Furkan Korkmaz will play for Turkey in the U-20 European Championship, after all. The 76ers rookie will board an 11-hour flight to Germany on Saturday. From there, heāll take a four-hour flight to Greece to join his Turkish teammates. The tournament, which will begin Saturday, runs through July 23. After that, Korkmaz will play for the Turkish senior team in Eurobasket 2017 from Aug. 31 to Sept. 17, if heās selected.
While the Sixers always supported his playing in Eurobasket, the team originally didnāt give its content for his participation in the U-20 tourney once he signed his NBA contract on July 4.
"I can confirm my presence on the list and my intention to continue to win more medals and achieve success with our national team," Spain's greatest-ever player said this week at the launch of his academy. "Each tournament can be the last and that is why you have to give your all and compete as though that were the case. We shall see if in two years' time (at the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019) I play or what we do."
Jokicās decision mainly has to do with the playerās preference to dedicate his offseason to individual workouts in order to improve himself ahead of the new season.
The Spanish federation announced the pre-selection of the team which includes Pau and Marc Gasol, Ricky Rubio, Sergio Rodriguez, Sergio Llull, Alex Abrines, Fernando San Emeterio, Juancho and Willy Hernangomez, Nikola Mirotic and Juan Carlos Navarro who are expected to be part of the final team and will start training at the 28th of July.

Brian Windhorst: I think Kyrie Irving is invested in being a Brooklyn Net next year. Obviously there was some turmoil with his contract extension not happening. He realizes his best path moving forward to get the contract he wants in Brooklyn or elsewhere is to have a very good season.
Windhorst: So from what I can gather, it appears he and the Nets are looking forward to meeting up in training camp. Whether Kevin Durant is there and his level of buy-in, that’s the big question. But right now, I think the Nets want to run this team back and they’re hoping Kevin Durant agrees. The way they’re conducting trade talks and the prices they are asking has teams out there thinking they don’t really want to trade Kevin Durant anyway. They want to bring this team back. We’ll see if Kevin Durant goes along with that in training camp.
Adrian Wojnarowski: For LeBron James, he looked at the free agency landsacpe next summer, who might have cap space, and there was nothing that interested him enough, I’m told, to keep that option open and go into the season on an expiring contract
On the heels of his second appearance in friendly action Wednesday, Giannis Antetokounmpo will not play against Georgia Thursday. In the latter stages of the training camp, Greece will conclude the 31st International Tournament Acropolis Aegean facing Turkey Friday. After being rested today, the Greek Freak is expected to be part of the final test before official games take over the schedule next week.

After being traded by the Portland Trail Blazers to the Clippers last February, Powell proceeded to play three games before sustaining a left foot fracture. His recovery took weeks, which only allowed him to suit up in the teamās last four games including the Play-In tournament. The veteran admitted that it was a tough experience of not being able to have an on-court familiarization with his team in the previous campaign. āItās kind of a tough hill to climb on, only playing for three games and then coming back for the playoffs, itās tough,ā Powell said, via David Yapkowitz of 213 Hoops. āI really didnāt get a full chance to show what I bring to the table, just a little bit of a spark there.ā
Former Boston Celtics player Enes Kanter Freedom explained why the NBA is “really mad” as its hypocritical business ties to communist China are exposed Wednesday on “The Ingraham Angle.” KANTER FREEDOM: Everything the NBA does is either for money or a publicity stunt. It’s been like that for years, so I’m not really surprised. They could care less about the players, about the coaching staff and the fans as long as the league image is profitable.
Enes Kanter Freedom: And finally, they are really mad because someone finally from the inside who played 11 years in this league ā [is] going out there and exposing them one by one. And that is unacceptableā¦ What is unacceptable is how they can bow down to the biggest dictatorship out there in the world. So that hurt my heart. I was like, “You know what? Enough is enough. Someone has to call out this hypocrisy.” And I did it.
Vanessa Bryantās ongoing civil trial against Los Angeles County has gotten so gory and gruesome at times that Bryant felt compelled to stay out of the courtroom during testimony three times in the first three days, including one time after she got up and left the room in distress. In one exchange, a witness described āpieces of flesh hanging from trees.ā
