The Milwaukee Bucks have signed free agent center/forward Joel (Jo-EL) Anthony and guard/forward Gerald Green to training camp contracts.
Free-agent swingman Gerald Green has agreed on a contract with the Milwaukee Bucks, league sources told The Vertical.
Green will sign a non-guaranteed deal for training camp, and is expected to compete for a regular-season roster spot. Milwaukee has looked to add depth at the wing positions, bringing Green and veteran guard Brandon Rush to camp.
Boston would now need a series of transactions to create cap space for Gordon Hayward. The Celtics would have to pull the qualifying offer on Kelly Olynyk, renounce free agents Jonas Jerebko, James Young, Gerald Green and waive the contracts of Jordan Mickey and Demetrius Jackson (or trade).
Darren Wolfson: Yet another wing #Twolves have inquired on is Gerald Green. Casting a wide net, hoping a bigger name falls into their $4.3M exception laps.
The Boston Celtics announced today that they have signed free agent guard/forward Gerald Green, re-signed center Tyler Zeller and signed 2016 NBA draft picks forward Jaylen Brown, guard Demetrius Jackson and forward Ben Bentil. Per team policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed.
Former Celtics guard Gerald Green is returning home. A source told Sporting News that Green will sign with Boston on a one-year, guaranteed contract. Green was originally the No. 18 choice by the Celtics in the 2005 draft.
Gerald Green. He was a good teammate (according to a Heat person) and became a better defender, but his shooting percentage declined significantly and an official to spoke to the Heat said the indication he got was that the Heat will move on if it can find a better option.
Green is not thinking about this as another one-season stay, however. He believes he has an opportunity to earn a multi-year contract and the stability he craves. “I’m trying to find a home, and can’t Miami be my home?” he said. “That’s where my intentions are. So what is a Miami Heat requirement? To D-up. I know if I want to be here the rest of my career, (forget) offense. I gotta D-up. That’s where my mind is at.”
Free agent Gerald Green has reached agreement on a one-year deal with the Miami Heat, league sources told Yahoo Sports. Green, 29, blossomed with the Suns in two seasons after the team acquired him from the Indiana Pacers. After arriving with the Suns in 2013-14 to deliver the best season of his career – averaging 15.8 points in 82 games – his production and minutes slipped in the 2014-15 season. Green deepens the Miami bench, a scorer who can play behind the Heat's talented wings, including Dwyane Wade.
