The Sixers are expected to sign James Young to a two-way contract, multiple league sources tell 2 Ways & 10 Days.
Milwaukee Bucks: The Bucks have requested waivers on James Young. Originally signed on Sept. 6, Young did not appear in either preseason game.
The Bucks are hosting a free agent mini-camp on Tuesday and Wednesday this week as they look to fill out their training camp roster and identify candidates to play for their G League affiliate, the Wisconsin Herd, according to Matt Velazquez of The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. The mini-camp, which will give the club a chance to evaluate possible camp invitees, includes a handful of notable names among its 16 participants. Former lottery picks Trey Burke and Hasheem Thabeet are among the first-rounders who will be in attendance at the mini-camp, as Velazquez details. MarShon Brooks, Toney Douglas, Archie Goodwin, R.J. Hunter, John Jenkins, Perry Jones, and James Young are also set to get a look from the Bucks.
Boston would now need a series of transactions to create cap space for Gordon Hayward. The Celtics would have to pull the qualifying offer on Kelly Olynyk, renounce free agents Jonas Jerebko, James Young, Gerald Green and waive the contracts of Jordan Mickey and Demetrius Jackson (or trade).

“With James, with that fourth year, we just want to wait and see how he progresses in this third year,” Danny Ainge said Tuesday. “It’s a big year for James, but I really like where he is. As a person and a player, he’s made great strides and is becoming more of a pro all the time.” Ainge said that Young was at the gym from 7 to about 9 p.m. Monday, long after Boston’s practice had ended. During that time Young and Ainge also sat down and discussed the team’s decision not to pick up the $2.8 million 2017-18 option.
Ainge made it clear that it does not mean Young’s time in Boston is finished. The Celtics could still sign him — for no more than the salary he was slotted to receive in his rookie deal — but before even reaching that point, they will need to see more. “I mean, listen, James has plenty of examples of guys it was a great blessing to not get their contract extended, right?” Ainge said, meaning that Young could perform well and earn a hefty payday elsewhere. “So I think he understands it. He gets it. He understands it’s an important year regardless of whether we did or we didn’t. So, yeah, he took it in a good way.”

Cassidy Hubbarth: David Griffin told me that Zion is expected to get scans on his right foot by the end of this week & that will dictate how they progress from one stage to the next. Right now he hasn’t been cleared to play, he is doing one on none, no explosive work, running just straight lines.
Atlanta Hawks PR: With his fourth point tonight, Trae Young has 5,000 points for his career in his 208th game, becoming the fastest player in Hawks franchise history to reach that total. The five fastest are Young, Pettit (212), Pete Maravich (218), Joe Johnson (227) and Dominique Wilkins (230).
