The woman, whom WW is not naming because she’s the alleged victim of sexual assault, agreed to a brief interview after WW obtained the police report and contacted her. She says she never contacted the media or sought publicity or compensation from Cuban and has put the incident behind her. “I really left it in the past,” she says. “I haven’t thought about it for seven years.” Now married and in her mid-30s, the woman works in the medical field and enjoys hiking with her yellow Lab. “I have a wonderful life,” she says. “I’m a happy person.” But she’s sticking to her story. “I filed the report because what he did was wrong,” she adds. “I stand behind that report 1,000 percent.”

The Toronto Raptors announced Wednesday they have re-signed restricted free agent forward Chris Boucher to a multi-year contract. Per team policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Boucher, 6-foot-10, 200 pounds, averaged 6.6 points, 4.5 rebounds, a team-high 1.0 blocks and 13.2 minutes in 62 games last season. He shot .472 (141-299) from the field, .322 (38-118) from three-point range and .784 (91-116) at the free throw line. Boucher scored in double figures in 15 games with three 20-point outings and recorded five double-doubles. He also led the reserves in scoring 13 times.

What do you expect from Steph this year? Andre Iguodala: I think they will be motivated from last year. I think it was good for them to have that time off. Going to that many Finals takes a toll on a body, especially what is expected from him. It was good for him to just be able to let the brain settle down from the last five years. I think Steph is in his bag right now in terms of the prep he’s been putting to get ready for the upcoming season. I’m really, really excited to see what he comes out and does. They have an interesting team. They made some good pickups. I like (Kelly) Oubre (Jr.) a lot. I like the draft pick (James Wiseman). Brad Wanamaker I like a lot. I got to play against him in the Eastern Conference finals. I think he’ll thrive in that system, and he is going to be really solid and a calming figure for them. Draymond (Green) has been putting his work in this summer too to get back out there. I think Steph’s going to have a big year.
But Wood was now a different person. A better player, too. His shooting had improved. He was stronger. Not only did he beat out Johnson, but he then passed Thon Maker on the Pistons’ depth chart. When Blake Griffin got injured and the team traded Andre Drummond to Cleveland, Wood found himself thrust into the starting lineup. (Wood said that after the deal, Drummond texted him a picture of a man passing a torch.) He responded with an All-Star-caliber stretch, averaging 22.8 points and 9.9 rebounds per game. “I knew I could do this the whole time,” Wood said. After a game against the Magic last season, Orlando head coach Steve Clifford, who coached Wood in Charlotte, approached him. “He’s like, ‘Man, you’ve gotten so much better than where you were before,’” Wood recalled. “I was like, ‘Yeah, I told you so,’ and walked off on him.”
Mullin said that Wiseman, the No. 2 pick, “is going to be a star” and is already impressed with the 7-foot-1, 251-pound center’s athleticism and poise. He said Bazemore, who has eight seasons of NBA experience, brings another reliable veteran presence. And he said that the Warriors would be happy if Oubre simply replicated his prolific numbers with Phoenix over the past two seasons. “To me, the biggest factor for these guys when it comes to replacing Klay Thompson and what he did is consistency,’’ Mullin said. “They need to be consistent in their contributions night after night.”
The only real issue here is that he’s been a bit of an inconsistent shooter throughout his career. But a source at Oklahoma State told me that he’s come to preseason workouts and been the team’s second-best shooter behind 3-point marksman Ferron Flavors. If Cunningham is really a shooter now, it’s kind of a wrap for opponents because there isn’t really an easy way to stop him. I’d bet on Cunningham averaging something in the ballpark of 16 points, seven rebounds and seven assists at Oklahoma State this season, and being in the mix to win the national player of the year award. He is the big lead ballhandler that everyone is looking for, plus he has a real winner’s mentality that consistently leads to positive team play and good results.
