When his 6-foot-7-inch, 225-pound frame thudded to the ground, the noise reverberated to the other side of the arena, and probably could be heard in the upper reaches, too. Brown initially appeared in shock. His arms were somewhat awkwardly held in front of him, and he kept blinking. But he did not move or talk. Celtics medical staffers rushed to him and immediately instructed him to stay down. Forward Al Horford sat a few feet away, hoping his teammate would know he was there.
Brad Stevens once coached a player who collided with a stanchion and then lost movement, and that was what he thought about as he watched Brown. The Timberwolves wheeled a stretcher onto the court, but it turned out Brown would not need it. After a few minutes, he sat up. And then about 30 seconds after that, he stood and walked to the locker room as he received a standing ovation from the Minnesota fans.

Third overall pick Jaylen Brown returned from a two-game absence with a hyperextended right knee and missed 10 of 13 shots, finishing with just 9 points. Brown tweaked the knee missing a two-handed dunk on a pretty crossover move but said he expects to play Sunday against the Phoenix Suns. “It’s bothering me a little bit but [I’ve got to] shake some of the rust off and get back into the flow of the game,” Brown said. “I felt like I was stuck in the mud a little bit, missed some baskets going to my left hand because I was exploding off my right leg, but I’ve just got to get it stronger.”
