TJ McBride: Nuggets updated injury report:
Nuggets guard Gary Harris was in a walking boot Friday, in these early days of a right foot injury that he suffered last Saturday against Detroit. And he’ll be out for a while, as some details get clearer about his expected time away from the team. Harris’ timeline is at least four weeks out, not up to four weeks, according to league sources. And he won’t need surgery, so it’s a situation where he’ll receive daily treatment in order to get well.
Chris Dempsey: Gary Harris (foot) could be out up to 4 weeks, #Nuggets coach Michael Malone said. Big big blow.
The issue is getting both players through a full practice with no setbacks. To this point, both Harris and Arthur have gone through most of a couple of recent practices but not all of them. Until they do, Nuggets coach Michael Malone said he’ll be hesitant at best about putting them in the game. Malone on Harris: “It’s good to see him on the court (Friday). And as is always the case, how does he feel the next day. He’s just not there yet. So he’s still out.”
“I wanted to play today, I wanted to,” he said. “So we’ll just see. I want to get back out there as soon as possible, especially after practicing Tuesday. I felt pretty good. We’ll see how it goes. I trust (the training staff), they’re going to make sure I’m right. I want to come back, be 100 percent and be good to go.” Meanwhile, Arthur has experienced a couple of small setbacks in his recovery from arthroscopic knee surgery. He experienced some swelling in the knee after Monday’s practice and had a treatment day on Tuesday. “I think I’m day-by-day right now,” Arthur said.
Optimistic estimates on his return by Nuggets coach Michael Malone put Harris’ return right around the start of the regular season on Oct. 26. Harris wouldn’t rule it out, but wasn’t confirming that as a target date, either. “I’m just going day by day, just trying to get better each day,” Harris said. “That’s two weeks down the road: We’ll see. I’m just trying to get better each day.”
