Adam Himmelsbach: Jaylen on dunking again: "We’ll see. I still haven’t went up for a dunk. We’ll see how it goes. But sometimes you just can’t help it."
Marc D'Amico: #NEBHInjuryReport: Jaylen Brown is back and will start tonight against the Kings. Marcus Morris is out with a sprained ankle but should “be back sooner rather than later,” says Brad Stevens.

Jaylen Brown has missed the last five games while recovering from the injury, and on Thursday he spoke with reporters for the first time since the scary fall. "I remember slipping off the rim," Brown said. "I remember waking up and there was a bunch of people standing around me. And I was like, 'What the hell is going on?' I had no idea I had been, like, out for like 30 seconds or whatever they said I was out for. "I just remember waking up and there was a bunch of people around me. And I tried to get up and they were like, 'Whoa, whoa, whoa!' And I was like, 'What's the big deal?' And that's all I remember, to be honest."
Mark Murphy: At least they're in the building. Kyrie Irving and Jaylen Brown both in street clothes on bench tonight.

When his 6-foot-7-inch, 225-pound frame thudded to the ground, the noise reverberated to the other side of the arena, and probably could be heard in the upper reaches, too. Brown initially appeared in shock. His arms were somewhat awkwardly held in front of him, and he kept blinking. But he did not move or talk. Celtics medical staffers rushed to him and immediately instructed him to stay down. Forward Al Horford sat a few feet away, hoping his teammate would know he was there.
Brad Stevens once coached a player who collided with a stanchion and then lost movement, and that was what he thought about as he watched Brown. The Timberwolves wheeled a stretcher onto the court, but it turned out Brown would not need it. After a few minutes, he sat up. And then about 30 seconds after that, he stood and walked to the locker room as he received a standing ovation from the Minnesota fans.
Nick Friedell: Jaylen Brown just hit hard on the floor after a dunk -- that looked a lot like Kris Dunn's nasty fall last month.
Steve Bulpett: As soon as Jaylen Brown hit the floor, Al Horford rushed over to make sure he stayed still. Marcus Smart kneeled in seeming prayer over by the Celtic sideline.
Nick Friedell: Brown is sitting up. He has gotten to his feet and is walking back to the locker room. Standing ovation here in Minneapolis.

Jared Weiss: Jaylen Brown is going to talk to the doctor to get his eyes evaluated & figure out an alternative to his glasses. Says he can’t wear contacts all the time now, but glasses weren’t working for him. “It gets smeared and then I can’t see at all. So I might as well take my chances."
Marc D'Amico: Jaylen Brown (eye) will play tonight, according to Brad Stevens. Marcus Morris (knee) will go through his pre-game warmups with the hope of playing. #NEBHInjuryReport

Michael Pina: Jaylen has been ruled out for the rest of tonight's game (bruised thigh)

Third overall pick Jaylen Brown returned from a two-game absence with a hyperextended right knee and missed 10 of 13 shots, finishing with just 9 points. Brown tweaked the knee missing a two-handed dunk on a pretty crossover move but said he expects to play Sunday against the Phoenix Suns. “It’s bothering me a little bit but [I’ve got to] shake some of the rust off and get back into the flow of the game,” Brown said. “I felt like I was stuck in the mud a little bit, missed some baskets going to my left hand because I was exploding off my right leg, but I’ve just got to get it stronger.”
Adam Himmelsbach: Jaylen Brown hyperextended his knee and is out tonight.
Mark Murphy: Shrewsberry said Brown's right knee not a serious issue. Abdul Nader will see more time tonight as a result.

Joel Embiid wants PJ Tucker in Philadelphia

Jake Fischer on PJ Tucker going to Philadelphia: ‘I’ve heard Joel Embiid is on board, … also PJ’s agent resides in Philly. There’s one thing that I know for sure. He has wanted to get paid. He has been a journeyman in this league for years and years and years and years, a mercenary role player on all these contending teams. To my knowledge, I don’t think he’s made over 10 million a year. He’s wanted a double digit salary.
Kyrie Irving definitely considered taking the taxpayer mid-level exception to play for the Lakers

Jake Fischer: ‘Kyrie Irving definitely was considering taking the taxpayer mid-level exception to play for the Lakers before he opted in. That’s just the truth. He was definitely talking about it with people in his circle. And people on the league, we’re talking about that reality, because that was the only way for him to get to the Lakers this season.

The Lakers have a strong interest in retaining Monk, but it will depend on both his market and the quality of 3-and-D wings available to Los Angeles, according to league sources. Players the Lakers will target with their full taxpayer midlevel exception include Otto Porter Jr., Nicolas Batum, Gary Harris, T.J. Warren, Caleb Martin, Cody Martin, Mo Bamba and Danuel House Jr., according to multiple league sources. Players the Lakers will be interested in for the partial midlevel exception or minimum contracts include Nemanja Bjelica, Jeremy Lamb, Jevon Carter and Juan Toscano-Anderson, according to league sources.
Brittney Griner to be the subject of a 'show trial' in Russia, guilty verdict very likely

Brittney Griner’s trial for allegedly taking hashish oil into Russia is scheduled to begin Friday. At that point it will have been 134 days since the WNBA star was taken into custody while trying to enter the country through a Moscow-area airport. She faces 10 years in prison if convicted. But before the trial even begins, U.S. experts and officials say Griner will be the subject of a show trial, and a guilty verdict is almost a certainty. The entire exercise, they say, is a negotiation tactic to push the Biden administration into trading for her freedom. “It’s a foregone conclusion and the trial is to uphold the state and confirm the power of the state,” says William Pomeranz, the acting director of the Wilson Center’s Kennan Institute in Washington, D.C., and an expert on Russian law. “Justice is not the immediate issue.”
Sources close to Griner declined to say how she intends to plead, but experts say that with no chance of acquittal it would make strategic sense to just plead guilty now. That might cause headaches for the U.S. State Department and the White House, but it could make Griner’s life more bearable, and a deal to go home more likely.
