The belief is that Stauskas, also unavailable this summer, was unhappy with his usage at the FIBA Americas tournament in 2015 as well. […] They’ll miss Wiggins, to be sure, but they’re confident they have enough talent to compete without him. Most importantly, they’ve found a group of guys that recognize and appreciate the value in representing their country, that want to be there. They’ve left the door open for Wiggins, Stauskas and , who has never played for the senior team, but they’re not going to beg and nor should they.

Shams Charania: Sources @TheAthleticNBA @WatchStadium: The Indiana Pacers are signing guard Stephan Hicks from G League affiliate Fort Wayne on a 10-day contract.
“Next game in Atlanta is big for us and the one after that (too) because we can’t keep digging ourselves such a hole,’’ said Vucevic, whose 27-point, six-rebound, four-assist and two-block effort wasn’t nearly enough in Saturday’s 118-108 loss to the Bucks. “This is it for us. Every game for us on the board is like a Game 7. We don’t have any margin for error any more. This is it for us and this is our season. So, we either show that we’re built to do this or not. So, we’ll see how we all react.’’
“We’re (eight) games under .500 and it’s still not over,’’ Vucevic said of the team’s playoff chase. “We’re three or four games out and things can turn around quickly, but it has to be done. If we keep losing and keep sliding and there’s too much of a gap, the teams in front of us aren’t going to lose that many games. It’ll be hard for us to go on, like, a 10 or 11-game winning streak. We have to do it right now. Every game, we have to bring it and play at our best for 48 minutes and try to win as many games as we can until the (All-Star) break.’’
Tommy Beer: As of Wednesday, no team in NBA history had ever attempted more than 61 three-pointers in an NBA game. Over the Rockets past two games, they are averaging 69 three-point attempts per game.
Nick Friedell: Kerr says the plan for Cousins’ minutes remains about the same vs. Lakers. They’d like to get him a few more — maybe around 20 — but they liked the way he came through his first game against Clippers.
Mark Montieth: Just got word that Jimmy Rayl, a.k.a. The Splendid Splinter, passed away this afternoon. He was Mr. Basketball in 1959, set a Big Ten scoring record with 56 points at IU and was an original Pacer. Helluva good guy. Nobody loved playing basketball more than him. Story coming soon.
