Ian Begley: The Knicks have a workout scheduled with UCLA point guard Aaron Holiday, per ESPN sources. The workout is expected to take place close to draft night, sources say. Holiday, the younger brother of Jrue and Justin Holiday, was a prolific scorer last season as a Bruin. The idea that the Knicks would like to work Holiday out close to the draft is an indication that they'd really like to get a first-hand look at him. The guard, who averaged 20.3 points and 5.8 assists last season, is currently projected as the 19th pick in ESPN's latest mock draft. The Knicks, who have the 9th pick, have already worked out point guards Trae Young and Collin Sexton.

The Cavs have the eighth pick, and are excited about the possibility of using that slot to maybe draft someone who was supposed to be No. 1, sources said, but he is not the only player under consideration. For instance, Collin Sexton, the point guard from Alabama, worked out with the Cavs Saturday and owner Dan Gilbert tweeted that he was a "very intriguing draft prospect."

Mike Vorkunov: Found it interesting that Wendell Carter Jr. said he spent a lot of his Knicks workout today working "on defense, help-side defense" with Fizdale. Wonder if that's revelatory about questions Knicks have about him or if that's routine for bigs in these types of workouts.

Most teams will have players stay at a 4-star hotel: Hyatt, Marriott, Westin, etc. But again, every team is different. Some teams will have players stay at a 5-star hotel while others will have players stay at a 3-star hotel due to the proximity to their practice facility. Typically a team’s front office staff will take players to dinner the night before a workout or an early breakfast the morning of the workout. If not, teams will give per diem or a certain amount of credit for room service at the hotel. Everything is a test during this time; players need to be prepared for anything. A player does not want to give an impression of being a prima donna. He needs to go with the flow. The player’s goal is to play in the NBA and all of these teams have their golden ticket.
Generally, a team workout day will look something like this: On-Court Workout: Teams can have a maximum of six NBA draft prospects on the floor at a time. Players will be put through drills to show their skills. Ball handling, shooting, and offensive footwork are usually the main points of interest. This will also include competitive play: 1-on-1, 2-on-2, and 3-on-3. - Athletic Testing and Measurements. - Medical Testing. - Psychological Testing: A lengthy multiple choice test. This test is to examine a player’s intelligence and personality. - Interviews: This could be with the general manager, the head coach, or others in the front office and/or coaching staff. Occasionally, a team psychologist will be included in these interviews, as well.
In preparation for the 2018 NBA Draft, the Charlotte Hornets will host their fourth draft workout on Saturday, June 9: Joe Chealey, Allerik Freeman, Dakota Mathias, Doral Moore, Jeff Roberson and Robert Williams.
Wherever the athletic, 6-foot-9 big man with the 7-6 wingspan winds up after the June 21 NBA draft, he hopes to shut down such performances. Unless he’s Markkanen’s teammate, of course. “I feel like I have the best defensive presence when I’m on the court,” Williams said. “As far as guarding (positions) one through five, I feel like I’m capable. And I’m going to improve to make that one of my best attributes.”
Young dreamed about what life would be like if his career path eventually took him along this route. “You definitely envision it,’’ Young said on Thursday following his individual workout with the Magic. “When you put on this (black, sleeveless Magic) shirt or step on this court, you have to envision yourself being here every day and working out. Nighttime and when you are alone on those early mornings, you have to envision all of that if you want to be great.’’

Several league personnel view Washington as a favorite to land Grant. He hails from the D.C. area, his father Harvey played for the franchise from 1988-93 and again from 1996-98. The Wizards’ first-year head coach Wes Unseld Jr. also coached Grant as an assistant with the Nuggets.
The frenzy comes one year after Pistons general manager Troy Weaver swiftly declined any inquiry about Grant’s availability after the forward surprisingly chose Detroit in free agency. Sources say Detroit is now asking for two first-round picks or one first-round pick plus a high-upside young player.
For any team to sign off on a trade for Grant, they’ll need assurances of his plans to re-sign this offseason, just like Gordon did in Denver. Grant also has little interest in joining a new situation where he doesn’t feature as a primary offensive option, sources said.
The Pistons’ package of Grant, Saddiq Bey, Kelly Olynyk and a first-round pick, for example, was not met with much enthusiasm by Philadelphia brass, league sources told B/R. But when that deal construct began to circle around rival NBA front offices this fall, it also alerted teams to Grant’s surprising availability
Sean Cunningham: Kings PG De’Aaron Fox on his name attached to trade rumors, how he deals with it, & if he controlled his future, what he’d like to happen. “I want to win; I want to be part of a winning team. We’re continuing to build & work towards that.”
it’s difficult to imagine a deal structure that doesn’t send either Deni Avdija or Rui Hachimura back to the Pistons. Montrezl Harrell’s expiring $9.7 million contract can help make the salaries match, and Harrell has been considered available for trade, according to league sources.
