More on Draft Workouts

Ian Begley: Aaron Holiday, Ray Spalding and Donte Ingram were among the players who worked out for the Knicks on Tuesday, per sources. Holiday, out of UCLA, is one of the top point guards in the draft. Ingram, from Loyola, has impressed teams in workouts and is seen by some of those teams as a potential second-round pick. Spalding, a 6-10 big, averaged 12.3 points and 8.6 rebounds per game last season at Louisville. The Knicks have the 9th and 36th picks in Thursday's draft.
Adrian Wojnarowski: Texas A & M's Robert Williams had a second visit with the Clippers on Tuesday, league sources tell ESPN. This one included a conversation with owner Steve Ballmer. Clippers have done significant study of Williams for its picks at 12 and 13.
Darren Wolfson: Also in yesterday to workout for the #Twolves, I hear: two Cincinnati Bearcats in Kyle Washington and Gary Clark. This was Clark's 2nd workout here. Washington played in high school at Benilde St. Margaret's in St. Louis Park. pic.twitter.com/hInA7qyhYN
Trae Young reportedly conducted a “secret workout” with the Cleveland Cavaliers on June 16, per ESPN’s Jonathan Givony. The Cavs reportedly view Michael Porter Jr. as their top choice; however, point guard is a clear need on the roster should Porter not be available. Thirty-two-year-old George Hill is the only point guard currently under contract for the 2018-19 season.
Nets Daily: The Nets have released and tweeted five videos of their Draft prospects. Not one prospect’s face was shown. Not one. Nets are keeping their Draft plans, their strategy even the players they’re working out VERY closely held. Expect the unexpected.
Jason Quick: Simons had a workout with Memphis, but cancelled to accept Blazers' invitation. "I feel like they wanted me more,'' Simons said of Portland.
Jason Quick: Final draft workout for Blazers today features two marquee names: Bosnian wing Dzanan Musa and teenager Anfernee Simons, who is in Portland for his second workout with Blazers. Simons is the only prospect brought in for two looks.

Gina Mizell: The #Nuggets’ pre-draft workout with Mitchell Robinson has been canceled. He’s one of the draft’s biggest mystery prospects because he did not play college ball/overseas last season and withdrew from NBA combine last month.
Darren Wolfson: Rest of yesterday's #Twolves draft workout that I haven't previously mentioned: Duncan Robinson (Michigan) and Andrew Rowsey (Marquette). Yesterday was also Troy Brown Jr. (Oregon) workout day here. He's a 1st round pick. #AllEyesNorth

Darren Wolfson: I hear that another solid draft wing was in today for a #Twolves workout in Tulane's Melvin Frazier. He measures 6-foot-6, with a 7-foot-1 wingspan and 8-foot-9 standing reach. He can defend, has vision, and made shots last year. He probably has flown under the radar too much.
Darren Wolfson: Lithuania's Arnoldas Kulboka, 20, also worked out for the #Twolves today, I hear. He was named best young player in the league he played in overseas last season. He has also worked out for the Lakers and Nuggets. #AllEyesNorth

Peter Edmiston: Interesting to hear @Adrian Wojnarowski talking in his latest pod about the Grizzlies'struggles to get players in - and also to get some medical information from certain players. Only Wendell Carter among the top prospects has been to Memphis. Pretty mediocre (to be kind) set of workouts...
Tony Jones: Former USC star De'Anthony Melton will work out for the Utah Jazz Sunday morning, League Sources tell The Salt Lake Tribune
Darren Wolfson: Update: While Allen had a nice meal with Thibs and Layden on Wed. night and good conversation into Thursday, he didn't workout for the #Twolves. He's dealing with a minor injury. It also prevented him from doing on-the-court stuff a few days ago with the Hawks. #AllEyesNorth

Eddie Sefko: Mavericks are sending a crew to Chicago for Michael Porter Jr.'s second workout. Medical staffs from teams in the lottery are converging for the look-see this afternoon. With Porter's back, trusting the docs and athletic trainers is critical. He's a wild card.
Keith Pompey: New #Sixers assistant coach Monty Williams is at the predraft workout. He arrived in town last night.
Young was scheduled for an individual workout with the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday, but canceled that workout earlier in the week, league sources told The Athletic. The move could signal a belief from Young’s camp that he won’t be on the board when Philadelphia picks at No. 10 overall.

In a workout for the Lakers, he recorded a 34.5” one-step vertical. At the conclusion of Raptors workouts, Toronto puts 2:30 on the clock, instructing players to shoot threes off the catch following full-court sprints and pull-up triples from the wings and the top of the key. Dakota Mathias drained 13–of–16 long balls en route to setting the all-time Raptors workout record with 53 points.

Though plenty of teams are looking to add a wing player or two in this year's draft, there are some valuable big men to consider, with Villanova University Omari Spellman in the mix. League sources told the Express-News the Spurs are targeting Spellman for a second workout before next Thursday's NBA Draft. The freshman forward averaged 10.9 points, 8.0 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in his only season at Villanova, helping the Wildcats capture their second NCAA men's basketball championship in three years while also being named Big East Rookie of the Year.

Eddie Sefko: Mavericks have seen workouts from Wendell Carter Jr. and everybody else slotted from 2 to 11. Or will see them work out individually if haven’t already. Moving up or down still not out of the question. Memphis, Orlando and Chicago also in the move market. 1 week to sort it out.
He's seen and experienced a lot of basketball, and sees big time stardom for Young. "His instincts are incredible," says Strickland. "He can shoot the ball, has range, but doesn't always have to be on the ball with the way the game is now with the spacing. He's going to space the court, has a quick release, can shoot off ball screens, spot up and shoot it, big time range. The court opens up after you leave college and I think he has the talent and skill level."
Michael Cunningham: There was a report that you had a great workout with the Suns. How do you think this workout compares?  Jaren Jackson Jr.: I think this was a great workout. It was probably different. We just did different things. I thought I shot well. Got up and down a little bit. It wasn’t nothing too taxing but it was an hour and we focused ona lot of things, like more intricate parts of he game, like where I would get shots instead of a normal camp-type workout.

Doc Rivers wants to convince Ben Simmons to stay

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the star guard has told the team that he will not report to training camp next week and does not plan to play for the franchise again. “Well, I hope we can change that thought,” Rivers said on ESPN’s Keyshawn, JWill, and Max on Wednesday morning. “That’s part of our job.”

Did you ever wonder what would’ve happened if you didn’t have that injury? Brandon Jennings: I would’ve been an All-Star for sure if I didn’t tear my Achilles, and I believe we would have made the playoffs that year in Detroit, and then I’d end up getting paid. That probably would’ve happened. Then again, who knows what happens after that? I feel like with the injury, that’s when the chaos started happening outside of my career. I felt like with the money, it would’ve probably been more chaos.
When you had that 55-point game, what stuck out to you about it? Was that your favorite NBA moment? Brandon Jennings: The 55-point game was still something I can’t explain. I just got hot, and the ball was just going in. I only scored 10 points in the first half, and I had a terrible first quarter. I just came out in the second half hot. I’m sure everybody is like, that should be your favorite game, but one of my favorite games ever was my first game in the NBA when I almost had a triple-double in Philly. I didn’t know if I was going to start. He told me I was going to start the day before.
