After two years of their Red Rock-themed gradient uniforms, the Utah Jazz unveiled a new version Monday — something similar but with a twist. The team’s new “Dark Mode” City Edition jerseys for the 2020-21 season are a predominantly black take-off on what they have been wearing the past two seasons — “a continued celebration of the natural wonders across the team’s home state,” as the Jazz phrased it in a news release.
The top portion of the jersey and the left leg of the shorts feature a simplified color band scheme from the previous City Edition uniforms. The “Jazz state” logo — an outline of the state of Utah embedded with the basketball lines from the team’s primary logo — has been moved to the right leg of the shorts. The Jazz said the asymmetry of the shorts legs are intended to be “an homage to the team’s late ’90s purple mountain uniform, which included a mountain range on the left leg.”
