"Some guys are just like that. They develop a rhythm to playing. There are just guys who feel more comfortable starting than coming off the bench," head coach Larry Drew said following Friday's practice. "I think everybody wants to start, but everybody's production as a starter is not very good. As a coach, what I try to do, I try to look at what a guy does as a starter versus what he does off the bench. Certainly with G Hill out, Collin has definitely stepped up to the plate and made his presence felt and has made a major impact to what we've been doing."
Adrian Wojnarowski: Another tough blow for 1-10 Cleveland: Point guard George Hill will miss two weeks with a sprained right shoulder, league sources tell ESPN. First-round pick Collin Sexton will continue to get the opportunity to start.
Joe Vardon: Repost to fix hilarious typo: Source tells me George Hill will probably miss two weeks from shoulder sprain — h/t @Adrian Wojnarowski . The Cavs have an open roster spot and will need someone to back up rookie Collin Sexton at the point. Jordan Clarkson can do it but he’s their top scorer
With a true point guard, the Cavaliers finally had a go-to offensive set to counter the Pacers' smart halftime adjustments that had a big role in how out of sync the Cavs looked coming out of the locker room. The Cavs repeatedly called for the lethal 1-3 pick and roll that was a staple of their Finals runs the last three years. "G-Hill not playing in the first half coming in the third quarter and giving us that spark at the point guard position with him and LeBron running the 13 action, it was huge for us," Thompson said. "He was able to make shots, get to the lane and put pressure on (Bojan) Bogdanovic to either pick or choose."
Dave McMenamin: The Cavs say that George Hill remains questionable for Game 7. He has missed the last three games with back spasms stemming from a pick by Trevor Booker.
Dave McMenamin: George Hill (back spasms) is out for Game 6. ESPN has learned that Hill received another anti-inflammatory injection in his buttocks prior to his pregame workout, but the team decided to hold him out. Jose Calderon will start again at point guard.
Chris Fedor: #Cavs George Hill is OUT tonight. Jose Calderon will be getting the start.
Marla Ridenour: #Cavs G George Hill said he tried everything, including getting 4 shots in his back, to play in Game 4. Can hardly sleep, has been little improvement with treatment. All stems from Trevor Booker screen in Game 1.
Marla Ridenour: #Cavs coach Tyronn Lue may cut down 10-man rotation, although injuries could play a part. Lue said George Hill (back) needed a lot of treatment today
Jordan Zirm: George Hill said his ankle was feeling “a lot better” as he walked out of the locker room. Ty Lue was dapping players up in the locker room postgame too. Cavs are close to being whole
Andy Larsen: George Hill's status remains unchanged for Game 4. In other words, they'll see how he's feeling tomorrow.
The Utah Jazz will be shorthanded against the Golden State Warriors yet again. Point guard George Hill went through pregame warmups and drills, but he will not play because of ongoing issues with his left big toe.
Mack, who played sparingly in the first round win over the Clippers, will be the Jazz's starter again as the team tries to bounce back at Vivint Arena after losing the first two games of the Western Conference semifinals in Oakland. "I’m feeling good with the situation I’m at," Mack said.
Chris Miller: Both Derrick Favors (Knee) and George Hill (groin) ruled out Friday vs. @Washington Wizards #DCFamily #WizJazz
Jody Genessy: The Jazz will be without Derrick Favors, George Hill and Raul Neto tonight. Gordon Hayward participated in shootaround but is questionable.
The injury report still lists him as being out, but there is a chance Jazz point guard George Hill could suit up tonight against the Minnesota Timberwolves. "I think he's progressing," Jazz coach Quin Snyder said. "Concussions are a tricky thing. You're more able to discern other injuries, as opposed to concussions. But hopefully if he's not able to play, he's getting really close."
Aaron Falk: Being told that barring a significant change in the coming hours, George Hill will NOT be available tonight in Boston
Tim MacMahon: Jazz PG George Hill is out Monday vs. Nets due to concussion-like symptoms and a lip laceration. SG Alec Burks is questionable to make his season debut coming off ankle surgery.
Utah Jazz point guard George Hill went to the locker room with 0.6 seconds left in the first quarter Saturday night after being elbowed in the face by Phoenix Suns center Alex Len. Hill received stitches for a lower lip laceration and underwent concussion testing. He did not return for the second half of the Jazz's 91-86 win in Salt Lake City. There is no timetable for Hill's return. He exhibited concussion-like symptoms and now will go through league-mandated concussion protocol before he's cleared to play.
Tim MacMahon: George Hill could return as soon as Thursday against the 76ers, according to a league source, confirming a Salt Lake Tribune report. Hill's availability will be determined based on how he feels after a Wednesday workout. He has missed the last 13 games due to a sprained left big toe. The Jazz are 8-3 with Hill, who missed eight games in November due to a sprained right thumb.
Tim MacMahon: Jazz PG George Hill (toe) will miss his sixth straight game Wednesday against Russell Westbrook and the Thunder.
Tim MacMahon: Utah PG George Hill (sprained right thumb) will miss his eighth straight game tonight against the Nuggets. The Jazz are 3-4 without Hill, who was off to a spectacular start before the injury.
Tim MacMahon: The Jazz won't have their starting backcourt tonight against the Grizzlies. Rodney Hood (illness) joins George Hill (thumb) on the inactive list. PF Derrick Favors (knee) is a game-time decision. PF/C Boris Diaw is returning after an extended absence due to a leg contusion.
Aaron Falk: George Hill is OUT tonight in Miami. Boris Diaw is QUESTIONABLE for tonight
David Locke: George Hill will not play for the Utah Jazz tonight v Philadelphia. George Hill sprained his thumb in the game v the Knicks. Got hit by Derrick Rose. Checked out of game and returned later. Shelvin Mack will get the start at the point guard for the Utah Jazz.
