Chase Hughes: Otto Porter is OUT tonight, per the team. He is dealing with a left toe injury. Beyond more time for Oubre, should open the door for Troy Brown.
Josh Lewenberg: Brooks said the leg injury started bothering Porter in Game 4. They thought they could manage it but after MRI today made decision to undergo the procedure and shut him down.
Ohm Youngmisuk: Kelly Oubre Jr. will start in place of the injured Otto Porter Jr. Scott Brooks says Tomas Satoransky and Ty Lawson will see more minutes, especially when Toronto goes small.
Candace Buckner: Kelly Oubre Jr. on possibly stepping into starting lineup tonight in place of Otto Porter Jr.: “Just got to take my energy drink a little earlier. Take my pregame caffeine pill and I’ll be good.” Porter did not participate in shootaround this morning
On Thursday, Wizards Coach Scott Brooks was vague about Porter’s status for Game 6, which is to be played Friday night inside Capital One Arena at 7 p.m. The Wizards trail the Raptors three games to two in the best-of-seven series. “Anything’s possible, but we hope for the best,” Brooks responded when asked if Porter possibly will not play Friday. “I know he’s banged up. That’s all I know as of right now.”
Candace Buckner: Porter went through some of practice and still listed of day to day. Scott still in NBA protocol and has to finish that before going through next step. Both are listed as questionable for Game 1.
Candace Buckner: Otto Porter Jr. OUT with that mild calf strain. He’s day to day and I asked if this was Game 1 of the playoffs would he be playing and Scott Brooks did not know, because he hasn’t played that hypothetical game.
Chris Miller: Otto Porter is officially out with (hip) vs. @Cleveland Cavaliers #WizCavs #DCFamily
Chase Hughes: Otto Porter is heading to the locker room with trainers. He was getting his right leg stretched out by the training staff before he walked away from the bench.
J. Michael Falgoust: Per Brooks: Porter (back) is out. Wall (quad) is out #WizPistons #WASatDET
Candace Buckner: Scott Brooks said Porter's back spasms were "nothing too concerning." WAS just wants to sit him tonite & try to calm it down going into DET
Chase Hughes: Otto Porter is out tonight with back spasms, Keef Morris (ankle) is in vs. Heat.

Windhorst went on to say the Nets aren’t coming off asking for a big return for Durant in a trade. And that Brooklyn has no leverage with other teams, same as Durant has no leverage with the Nets. “I think what we have here is really a study of leverage. First off, the Nets do not have leverage in trade talks with other teams. They are not giving them the offers that they want. They see no reason to increase them. So, they’re not making any progress there,” said Windhorst. “Kevin Durant clearly does not have leverage with the Brooklyn Nets. He is asking for things: ‘Get me traded. Fire the coach. Fire the GM.’ He is being told no. So, when you have denied leverage, you have a stalemate.”
When it comes to Simmons, his unique skill set is incredibly enticing, but his best ability will be availability. Fortunately, according to ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith, that won’t be a problem for Simmons in 2022-23: “You and Kyrie and Ben Simmons — who, by the way, news flash here. I ran into Ben Simmons. He and I had a nice conversation … I support the brother. I had a problem with him not playing. That’s the past. He’s ready to go. He swears he’s ready to go.”
