Rick Bonnell: Looks like progress regarding @Cody Zeller (but still weeks away from playing following a broken hand). pic.twitter.com/e3w8wY2AJE
Rod Boone: Cody Zeller spoke today for the first time since fracturing his right hand and undergoing surgery earlier this month. Unclear how much longer he'll be out. Just started oncourt activities yesterday. Asked him how injury happened and his thoughts on #Hornets struggles without him:
Rod Boone: James Borrego said Cody is going to be out for a while. Not quite sure how long Jeremy will be out due to tricky nature of hamstring injuries. FWIW, just saw Lamb leaving locker room and he wasn't walking overly gingerly. But walking on a hammy and running are 2 different things.
Rod Boone: Final: #Hornets 125, Magic 100: Biggest thing now will be how long Jeremy Lamb and Cody Zeller are out. With a lengthy 6-game West Coast trip on tap after Wednesday's home game vs. Mavs, it's not exactly the most ideal time.
Charlotte Hornets center Cody Zeller sustained a fracture in his right hand during Monday's game against the Orlando Magic, the team announced. Zeller exited to the locker room in the 3rd quarter and had X-rays that showed the injury.
Rod Boone: So that's a hamstring injury for Jeremy Lamb and a fractured right hand for Cody Zeller. #Hornets head into the new year banged up and down two starters. Not exactly a Happy New Year's eve.
Rick Bonnell: Frank Kaminsky starts the second half for Hornets at center. Cody Zeller has a rib contusion, suffered in the first half.
Center Cody Zeller’s season is over, as the Charlotte Hornets scrambled for bodies Sunday in a home game against the Philadelphia 76ers. Zeller had missed the previous 11 games with soreness and swelling in his left knee.
Sunday morning, Clifford said it seems pointless to try to have Zeller play with five games left and the team eliminated from playoff contention. “I would say we’re at the stage now where it almost becomes, ‘Why?’” ask him to play, Clifford said. “It’s so hard to not play for long stretches off the season. Why, with five games left, would we even play him? It makes more sense to me to let him get back to 100 percent and then just start again next (season).”
Rick Bonnell: And now @Charlotte Hornets say Cody Zeller is doubtful with more left knee soreness. Cody said recently he was told to expect this sort of post-surgery thing, maybe the rest of the season. So, Willy Hernangomez gets some minutes.
Rick Bonnell: Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (hamstring) and Cody Zeller (knee) both out versus Celtics. Dwight Howard (rib) will play; he’s only Hornet to play every game this season.
Rick Bonnell: Zeller said no reinjury of his left knee. It just swelled up on him. TBD if he plays versus Boston.
Rick Bonnell: Cody Zeller, sore left knee -- will not return. Howard had a sore back, BTW.
The Charlotte Hornets announced today that Cody Zeller will undergo arthroscopic surgery tomorrow to address a torn medial meniscus in his left knee. Zeller sustained the injury in the third quarter of the Hornets game against Golden State on Dec. 6. Further updates on his status and a timetable for his return will be provided when available.
Rick Bonnell: Cody Zeller left knee strain; OUT.
Backup center Cody Zeller, who has missed the last four games with a bruised right knee, plans to play Sunday at home against the Orlando Magic. The Hornets list Zeller as probable, after he fully participated in practice.
Charlotte Hornets center Cody Zeller is sitting out Saturday's game against the Los Angeles Clippers because of a sore thigh.
Rick Bonnell: Cody Zeller OUT with quad soreness.
Rick Bonnell: Cody Zeller is OUT tonight and it doesn't sound likely he plays Wednesday at Golden State. I'll have a story on his injury later today.
Rick Bonnell: The @Charlotte Hornets list Cody Zeller as DOUBTFUL to play in Portland Tuesday. He's recovering from a quad contusion.
Rick Bonnell: Cody Zeller OUT again with a quad contusion. The @Charlotte Hornets are 1-8 when he doesn't play this season.
It doesn’t sound like Charlotte Hornets center Cody Zeller will be available to play anytime soon. Zeller has been held out of contact drills this preseason while he receives treatment for a bone bruise along his right knee. Wednesday he was held out of the entire practice. "He’s not even doing the non-contact stuff at this stage, so he has a long way to go," said Hornets coach Steve Clifford.
Charlotte Hornets center Cody Zeller had to miss scrimmaging against Team USA this week in Las Vegas due to a sore right knee. An NBA source confirmed Zeller had some soreness that caused him to cancel his participation with the USA Select Team. The injury is not considered serious.

Heat concerned with Tyler Herro's celebrity status?

In a recent episode of the “Inside the Paint” podcast, hosts Ethan Skolnick and Ira Winderman revealed that the Heat have been concerned about Herro’s growing celebrity status as of late. “Tyler Herro chose to become a celebrity,” Winderman said. “He chose to become something outside the game, as is his right. With his breakfast cereal, and his Tyler Tuesdays, and his Chipotle Bowl and that’s all well and good. But you know what? Other players when they see a player doing that before they’ve truly reached it. I don’t want to say there’s a jealousy. … They sort of take a scant view of the guy and say, ‘Wait a minute buddy. You haven’t done anything yet.’”
Skolnick then dropped the bomb that the Heat organization has been concerned about Herro for quite some time. “Ultimately, the team starts to get a certain level of concern,” he said. “In this particular case, the team has been concerned now for months.”

Derek Bodner: #sixers afternoon injury report has the following players listed as questionable: – Ben Simmons (illness) – Dwight Howard (left knee soreness) – George Hill (right thumb) – Tobias Harris (right knee soreness) – Seth Curry (left hip flexor tightness Also: – Steph Curry (ankle)
Marc Stein: The Thunder announced March 2 they will not admit fans this season. The Blazers, I’m told, are optimistic they will get clearance for reduced crowds before regular season’s end. The Bulls are still trying “to determine if there is a timeline where fans can return to home games.
