The Miami Heat return from the NBA All-Star break for the final 26 games of the regular season with a big boost in point guard Goran Dragic returning to practice from knee injury, along with forward Derrick Jones Jr. Both will travel with the team to Philadelphia and be available for Thursday’s game against the 76ers.
Ira Winderman: For those who held out early hope: Goran Dragic not on this trip with Heat. Derrick Jones Jr. also did not travel.
Tim Reynolds: Heat forward Derrick Jones Jr. has been diagnosed with a pair of bone bruises in his right knee, after his scary fall last night in New York. He will be re-evaluated in about six weeks and the Heat are hoping he will play again this season. This could have been much worse.
Miami Heat forward Derrick Jones Jr. was helped to the locker room early in the second quarter of Sunday night's game against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden after sustaining an apparent leg injury while driving in transition. With Jones, who was fouled on the play, unable to remain in the game, he was disqualified from returning.

Ira Winderman: MRI Wednesday on Derrick Jones Jr. came back negative, as did X-ray immediately after Tuesday's frightening tumble. So still listed with bruised right shoulder. Expectation is he will be out Friday in Washington.

JD Shaw: The Philadelphia 76ers are bringing guard Malik Ellison to summer league, his agent Jerry Dianis tells @HoopsRumors. Ellison is the son of Pervis Ellison, who was drafted No. 1 overall in 1989. He signed a 10-day deal with the Atlanta Hawks this season.
JD Shaw: DJ Funderburk has committed to play with the Utah Jazz during the Salt Lake City Summer League and Las Vegas Summer League, agent Cervando Tejeda tells @HoopsRumors. Funderburk played in Russia and France this past season.
