Eric Koreen: Danny Green told me he tweaked his ankle that was nearly recovered in overtime running into the cameras. Later told scrum he will see how bad it is tomorrow, but he thinks it should be fine. Still, Warriors losing one of the next two games would be nice.
Tim Bontemps: Kyle Lowry won’t play tonight against the Lakers because of a sore ankle. Danny Green will. Jeremy Lin will start in Lowry’s place.
Josh Lewenberg: Lowry and Green are both listed as questionable for tonight's game vs the Lakers with left ankle sprains. VanVleet is still out but Nurse hopes to have him back in the next week. Ibaka begins serving his 3-game suspension.
Michael Grange: Danny Green will play tonight vs. Dallas after getting his left hand evaluated Saturday
Ryan Wolstat: Danny Green listed as probable for tomorrow's game at Dallas with hand soreness. That's better than questionable.
Eric Smith: Danny Green not at practice. Went for imaging on his left hand. Sounds like the team is optimistic about the results. TBD though. Status for tomorrow uncertain.
Mike Ganter: Danny Green joins Lowry, Ibaka, Valanciunas all out for tonight's game with Cleveland. Green has a bruised knee.
Toronto Raptors guard Danny Green empathized with Kawhi Leonard desiring a second opinion on his injured quadriceps, after learning recently during an exit physical in San Antonio that he had been playing with a torn groin that went undetected by the Spurs.
Green suffered the injury Dec. 8 against the Boston Celtics. "I get an MRI the next day," Green said. "[It says] slight strain, take a couple weeks off. So we do the rehab, do everything we're supposed to do. After some time, it healed. I tried to play again. Certain days, I'd have bad days. Some days would be good. I'd feel it. My agent [Joe Branch said], 'Maybe we should get a second opinion.' I didn't want to because I have full faith and believe in the Spurs' staff. They've always been great to me. They've always done right by me. They've always done a hell of a job."
According to sources, Leonard and his representatives believed the Spurs misdiagnosed the forward's quadriceps injury as tendinopathy. Green, meanwhile, played 70 games for the Spurs in 2017-18 after missing five games in December due to the groin injury. "Everybody should get a second opinion just to see another perspective," he said.
You received that PRP shot. Are you feeling better now? Danny Green: "After the shot, I’m feeling OK. Just getting some rest right now, rehabbing and doing some strength stuff. I didn’t take much time off from the weight room, but I did (take time off) from the court."
Jabari Young: Danny Green (illness) will not be on the bench tonight. Headed back to team hotel to rest. #Spurs staying over in Denver ...will fly to Cleveland in the morning.
Jeff McDonald: Pop says Kawhi Leonard, Tony Parker and Danny Green are expected to play tonight against Denver, unless something goes awry with warm-ups.
Tom Orsborn: #Spurs have downgraded Tony Parker (sprained right ankle) from doubtful to out for tonight's game vs. Lakers. Danny Green (tightness, left groin) is also out after being downgraded from questionable. Kawhi Leonard (left shoulder strain) and Rudy Gay (right heel bursitis) were ruled out Wednesday.
Tom Orsborn: Leonard (shoulder) has been ruled out for tomorrow vs. Lakers, #Spurs say. It will be his 3rd straight game missed w/ that injury. Also, Parker (sprained right ankle) is doubtful, Gay (heel) is out and Green (groin) is questionable).
Paul Garcia: The Spurs announced Rudy Gay and Danny Green are OUT Friday vs Phoenix. Kawhi isn’t on the injury report, so he’s expected to play.
Paul Garcia: Spurs’ injury report for tonight’s game at Sacramento: Green (groin), Kawhi (return from injury management) - both OUT Gasol (groin) - PROBABLE
Tom Orsborn: #Spurs just corrected their injury report to say that Gasol (tightness, right groin) and Green (tightness, left groin) are questionable for tonight's game. The first report issued said they would be out.
Tom Orsborn: Parker and Leonard will sit out Wednesday night's game at Portland due to their injury management programs, according to the #Spurs injury report. On the bright side for the club, Anderson (left MCL sprain) and Green (tightness, left groin) are probable.
Michael C. Wright: Danny Green (tightness, left groin) is out for Monday against the Clippers. Kyle Anderson (left MCL sprain) remains out.
Tom Orsborn: In the strongest signal yet that Kawhi Leonard will make his return Tuesday night in Dallas, the just-released Spurs injury report lists him as PROBABLE for the game. Same for Danny Green, who missed the Phoenix game Saturday with a groin injury. #Spurs
Jeff McDonald: Spurs officially rule Danny Green (groin) out tonight against PHX. Joins a lengthy injured/rest list.
Kyle Anderson (left MCL sprain), Pau Gasol (rest), Manu Ginobili (rest), Kawhi Leonard (right quadriceps tendinopathy) and Tony Parker (return from injury management) are out for Saturday's game at Phoenix. Danny Green (tightness, left groin) is questionable.
Paul Garcia: Earlier the Spurs announced Danny Green and Joffrey Lauvergne have been upgraded to questionable for Tuesday’s game at Dallas. Kawhi, Parker and White all remain OUT.
Jeff McDonald: Danny Green (quad contusion) is back on the floor tonight in Portland. Gives Spurs their full starting five for first time since March 31.
Paul Garcia: Pop says Dejounte Murray might be able to play Monday and/or Wednesday. Green is ok, the Spurs just want to be very cautious with him.
Although Danny Green said he is ready to play in Wednesday night’s outing against the Kings, Spurs coach Gregg Popovich suggested the shooting guard’s status would be a game-time decision. Asked if Green was good to go after the Spurs listed him as questionable with a sore groin, Popovich said, “I think so, but I’m not sure yet.” Popovich kept Green on the bench for the second half of Monday’s win over Miami after he suffered the injury in the first half.
Paul Garcia: Spurs announce Danny Green will make his season debut tonight vs the Rockets, but Tony Parker is still out. SA starters yet to play together
“Jon (Jonathon Simmons), will probably miss a few days, maybe,” said Popovich. “Danny will be weeks.” The Spurs officially announced Green has been diagnosed with a left quad strain and he’s expected to miss approximately three weeks of play.
Michael C. Wright: Danny Green participated fully in practice on Wednesday. He's been out for a while, slowed by a bruised thigh. es.pn/2cTOUqM
Danny Green’s quest to bounce back from last season’s sub-par shooting performance has been put on hold due to a minor injury. A bruised left thigh forced the Spurs’ starting shooting guard to sit out the first training camp practice Tuesday morning and also an evening session. Green suffered the injury during open-gym workouts last week, a team spokesman said. Although it’s not considered serious, the ailment is expected to sideline him for a few days.

The early around-the-league reaction to Washington’s hiring of Michael Winger to take over its front office: Pretty much every rival team I’ve spoken to is already expecting aggressive activity from the Winger-led Wizards. Don’t forget, though, that Bradley Beal can’t be in play for a trade unless he wants to be. Beal holds the NBA’s only active and full no-trade clause as he enters Year 2 of a five-year, $251 million contract, so Washington can’t send him anywhere without Beal’s consent. Also TBD: Is Kristaps Porziņģis still a near-lock to receive a contract extension from the Wizards, as it appeared earlier this season, or likely to join the in-demand Kyle Kuzma on the Wizards’ list of marquee unrestricted free agents?
Justin Kubatko: Jayson Tatum last night: ✅ 31 PTS ✅ 12 REB ✅ 5 AST It’s the seventh time Tatum has recorded at least 30p/10r/5a in a game in the 2023 NBA Playoffs, tying LeBron James (2018) for the most such games in a single postseason. Read and subscribe: open.substack.com/pub/statitudes…

One week after shocking the world in Kaunas with the two-pointer that gave Real Madrid the win against Olympiacos and the 11th EuroLeague in the club’s history, Sergio Llull wrote that history once again. The 35-year-old Spanish veteran just became Real Madrid‘s leading scorer in the ACB. With a three-pointer to give Real Madrid the 25-point lead in the last minutes of the second quarter against Gran Canaria, in Game 1 of the ACB Quarter-Finals between the EuroLeague and EuroCup champions, Sergio Llull overcame Felipe Reyes in this special ranking, crossing the line of 6.019 points.

Mavericks not interested in Kyrie Irving sign-and-trade with Lakers for D’Angelo Russell
A popular topic all week, in the wake of Denver sweeping the Lakers out of the Western Conference finals, was the notion that L.A. could emerge as a potential sign-and-trade destination for Dallas’ free agent-to-be Kyrie Irving. While we await a clear indication about the Lakers’ intentions there, with no verifiable signal to date that pursuing Irving is among their offseason priorities, league sources say that the Mavericks would have no interest in a sign-and-trade with the Lakers that features D’Angelo Russell as the primary Dallas-bound player. All indications are that the Mavericks remain intent on re-signing Irving.
The former No. 2 overall pick has already expressed a desire to return to Los Angeles, but his future with the team remains unclear especially after Darvin Ham decided to bring him off the bench in Game 4 against the Denver Nuggets. Russell acknowledged it was a tough situation for him but wanted to remain as professional as possible about it. “I mean, it was tough,” Russell admitted. “It was tough to agree with it obviously, but in a short period of time to not become a distraction to your teammates and to everybody else that’s preparing just like you to get the one goal done which is win. I knew that was where you had to be professional. You can’t be a distraction at this point of the season and things like that, so that’s kind of how I went about it. I wanted to be professional and try to dominate my minutes when there were minutes for me.”
Lakers preferred offseason course is retaining Austin Reaves, Rui Hachimura
Retaining restricted free agents Austin Reaves and Rui Hachimura, continues to be regarded as the Lakers’ preferred offseason course. Less clear is the extent of their appetite to re-sign Russell, who averaged 6.3 points per game and shot 32.3% from the field (including 13.3% from 3-point range) during Denver’s four-game sweep.
The Celtics had to find their togetherness and it was his job as the OG to make that happen. Horford told Mazzulla to ditch the film session, organizing a team trip to Topgolf instead. They needed to have fun with each other and feel the joy again. “We completely skipped film,” Grant Williams told The Athletic. “We kept basketball away and we just focused on each other and getting that camaraderie and team back. We disconnected from the actual pressures and we were able to just enjoy one another. We’ve done movies before, we’ve done dinners. But that was our first time doing something active like that. Then we hit the film the next day.”
