Oleh Kosel: Adrian Wojnarowski on ESPN right now: "Paul George came to the Thunder in the last couple of days and asked to be traded to the Clippers. He wanted to play with Kawhi Leonard."
Adrian Wojnarowski: Oklahoma City is trading All-Star Paul George to the Los Angeles Clippers for a record-setting collection of draft choices, league sources tell ESPN.
Adrian Wojnarowski: Kawhi Leonard has been recruiting Paul George to find a way to get to the Clippers and LA pulled it off tonight: George goes to the Clippers with Leonard, and together they walk into Staples Center to go head-to-head with LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
But the Pacers could, too, wait until after July 1 on a deal, if their best course of action involves a sign-and-trade. That, at least, gives the Pacers the chance to widen their base of possible George trade targets. Among them, league sources told Sporting News, are the Clippers, who have three significant free agents — Chris Paul, Blake Griffin and J.J. Redick — and are desperate to add a player who could change their perennial postseason disappointment. The Clippers have expressed interest in George.

Tom Thibodeau could be open to Derrick Rose trade

A couple of notes on the Knicks’ reported interest in Derrick Rose… Tom Thibodeau coached Rose in Chicago and signed him in Minnesota. So Thibodeau would probably be in favor of the Knicks’ pursuit. Prior to the 2020 NBA trade deadline, neither the Detroit Pistons nor Rose had strong interest in executing a trade that would send Rose out of Detroit. Rose was happy with the Pistons and saw Detroit as a potential long-term home, per SNY sources.
Under new GM Troy Weaver, it’s possible the Pistons take a different approach with Rose. Rose, it’s worth noting, enjoyed his time with the Knicks and hoped to re-sign with them in the 2018 offseason. The Knicks opted against re-signing him and Rose subsequently signed short-term deals with Minnesota and Detroit. Rose is set to be a free agent in the 2021 offseason. If the Knicks were to give up assets for him, it would indicate that they planned on re-signing him in the 2021 offseason. New York will have significant cap space this the coming offseason.
