Robinson said he used his time away from the NBA to focus on “things [he] felt like [he] was struggling with,” and he believes he is returning as a better passer with a basketball IQ. The 28-year-old is also continuing to refine his defensive game, which he attributes to increased more effort. Overall, Robinson said he is “more mature” and has gained a better understanding of the game and how his role can fit certain teams.
Marcus Morris was happy to vouch for his former teammate. “We definitely could use him on this team,” Morris told Boston.com after Monday’s game against the Denver Nuggets. “I think he’d be perfect, honestly. He’d bring that energy [and] bring more size. He’s a guy that can defend the rim, got a lot of energy, you know, just being a dog. Every team could use a dog.”
Adam Johnson: The @Maine Red Claws have claimed Thomas Robinson off waivers according to a league source. Interesting though, the G League awarded Maine Robinson a day too early. Players must remain on waivers for 48 hours unless they are claimed by the top team in waiver order.

The Timberwolves auditioned a smattering of free agents Wednesday morning in a workout that included many of their signed players now that training camp is little more than two weeks away. The list included players such as power forwards Thomas Robinson and Perry Jones, shooter Anthony Morrow, point guards Trey Burke and Isaiah Canaan as well as Minnesotans Alan Anderson and Matt Janning.
Thomas Robinson responded to the many scenarios that emerged earlier today (17/7) and mentioned a “done deal” between him and Turkish club Fenerbahce. “False”, the American forward wrote on his Twitter profile that has been taken over by numerous supporters of the reigning EuroLeague champions. They fans were asking him if he’s indeed signed with their favorite team as a replacement of Utah Jazz-bound and fan-favorite Ekpe Udoh.

After playing for six NBA teams in five seasons, Thomas Robinson is hoping to ink a multi-year deal that will give him the continuity he’s never had throughout the course of his professional career. “I just want that stability,” Robinson told HoopsHype. “I want to be comfortable. I think every player is looking for that. If I have that, I feel like I can open up my game to another level and help a team even more. I’ve been through a lot since I entered the league. Being in the same place for more than one year – with the same players, the same coaching staff, the same system – would only help me get better. It would allow me to be more comfortable. And if you let me get comfortable, there’s no telling what you’ll get from me.
“Given the opportunity, I could easily be among the Top 10 rebounders in the league. Easily,” Robinson said. “Not only am I a better rebounder now than I was back in the day, I know what to do after I get the rebound. My basketball IQ and vision have improved so now I realize that I don’t need to go up immediately every time I get an offensive rebound or try to start a fast-break on my own when I get a defensive rebound.
It remains unclear if the Lakers retain Robinson considering they have a heavy frontcourt in fourth-year forward Julius Randle, third-year forward Larry Nance Jr., veteran forward Luol Deng and rookie forward Kyle Kuzma.

Because of that help, Robinson said he will “do anything possible I can to stay a Laker” once he becomes an unrestricted free agent on July 1. “I’m trying to build my family here,” said Robinson, the No. 5 pick in the 2012 NBA draft who had short stints in Sacramento (2012-13), Houston (2013), Portland (2013-14), Philadelphia (2014-15) and Brooklyn (2015-16). “I would love to be here for a few years. Just be somewhere for a while.”
Robinson knows Lakers president of basketball operations Magic Johnson and General Manager Rob Pelinka will weigh plenty of factors when making roster decisions. If Robinson does not receive wish? “I’ll just get up and go, but I don’t want to anymore,” Robinson said. “I’m tired. I want to sit down.”
