More on Kyle Kuzma Injury

Ryan Ward: As of right now, Kyle Kuzma and #Lakers rookie Talen Horton-Tucker are OUT for tomorrow’s game vs. #Hornets. Rajon Rondo remains QUESTIONABLE.
For Kuzma, that means a delayed start to his third NBA training camp. There’s a good chance he misses part of the regular season too. “He’s missed a significant amount of time already,” Vogel said. “We’ll see where he’s at when we get back from China [for two exhibition games]. Hopefully he’s cleared and we can start activating him for practice. We’ll be smart still.”
Mike Bresnahan: Kyle Kuzma (stress reaction, left foot) shooting threes more naturally today, not off one leg like earlier this week. Lakers plan to issue a status update on him in a little over a week. pic.twitter.com/hQ0rv5IVjq
Though the Lakers will not evaluate Kuzma until after the team returns from China in two weeks, Kuzma expressed confidence he will return at some point during training camp. “It’s good that we caught what I had at the right time, because it is serious, but it’s not serious,” Kuzma said. “It’s all about just rehabbing, getting back to it, progressing well and getting back out there with my teammates.”
Kyle Kuzma will be sidelined until at least mid-October because of a stress reaction in his left foot, the Lakers announced. Kuzma is still planning to travel with the Lakers for their games in China but will have an MRI examination after the team returns on Oct. 13. The Lakers will play the Brooklyn Nets in Shanghai on Oct. 10 and in Shenzhen on Oct. 12.
Kyle Goon: The Lakers are planning to bring both Kyle Kuzma and Talen Horton-Tucker to China. Jordan Caroline is not expected to make the trip.
Marc Stein: More on our AM story: The Lakers indeed expect Kyle Kuzma to miss the start of training camp as he continues to recover from a stress injury in his lower left leg, league sources say. The team will issue a formal update this week, with Kuzma's rehab said to be progressing well
Marc Stein: The injury, initially labeled "ankle soreness" last month while Kuzma was on @usabasketball duty, forced Team USA to send him home from Australia after the third-year Laker was expected to land a significant frontcourt role for Gregg Popovich
Marc Stein: The more pressing concern for the Lakers, though, is Kuzma's recent foot injury that forced him to withdraw from @usabasketball duty at the @fibawc , with his recovery said to be progressing slower than hoped. The Lakers increasingly fear Kuzma will not be ready for the start of training camp as his left foot continues to heal, league sources say. LA"s first two practices are Saturday. Left "ankle soreness" was the official listed diagnosis in August when Kuzma was sent home from Team USA's exhibition tour in Australia
Ryan Ward: Kyle Kuzma will miss the last game of the season for the Lakers as he has officially been ruled OUT for the final against the Blazers.
Kyle Goon: Kyle Kuzma is OUT for tonight with his foot tendinitis. Reggie Bullock and Tyson Chandler are QUESTIONABLE.
Kyle Goon: Luke Walton said Kyle Kuzma will be re-evaluated when the team gets back to LA. With four games left, Walton said there's a possibility the medical staff will decide it's not worth it for him to return.
Tania Ganguli: Among the Lakers players on the injury report who haven’t been officially shut down for the season: Tyson Chandler is out and Kyle Kuzma is questionable for tomorrow’s game in OKC.
Kyle Goon: Josh Hart (knee tendinitis) is QUESTIONABLE tomorrow against the Raptors. Lance Stephenson (toe sprain) and Tyson Chandler (neck stiffness) haven't played in over a week, and they're both listed as QUESTIONABLE. Kyle Kuzma is off the injury report.
Tania Ganguli: Tyson Chandler and Lance Stephenson are out for today’s game against the Bulls. Kyle Kuzma is available.
Tania Ganguli: Kyle Kuzma's MRI confirmed a minor right ankle sprain. He could miss up to a week, the Lakers say. He's been ruled out for Wednesday's game.
Dave McMenamin: Luke Walton says the Lakers are preparing as if LeBron won’t be available tomorrow. The Lakers say he is officially listed as out. Kyle Kuzma and Josh Hart are both questionable. However Walton said today Kuzma did the most he’s done since sitting out with his hip injury.
Ryan Ward: Kyle Kuzma (hip) and Josh Hart (knee) sat out of practice today. Luke Walton hopes they’ll be able to play on Tues. #Lakers
Kyle Goon: No Kyle Kuzma tonight against the Suns. Josh Hart will start.
Kyle Goon: LeBron James is OUT tomorrow against the Suns. Kyle Kuzma did not practice and is QUESTIONABLE.
Lakers coach Luke Walton noticed how Kyle Kuzma’s body movement looked restricted and removed his young forward to determine how much longer Kuzma could be effective against the physical play of the Minnesota Timberwolves. Kuzma acknowledged after Thursday night’s game that he’s been “dealing with a little hip strain” for the past week that has impeded his motion. He rejected thoughts of resting because the Lakers have been shorthanded and he figured he could play through the pain. “I just don’t like to sit out games,” said Kuzma, who hopes to play Sunday against the Phoenix Suns at Staples Center. “But it’s a little give and take. I’m a little hard-headed sometimes, but I gotta see what’s right and what’s wrong.”
None of that mattered to Walton when he saw that Kuzma “didn’t look right.” Walton first pulled Kuzma after he played 4 minutes and 26 seconds to start Thursday’s third quarter. Kuzma returned with 10:39 left in the fourth and wound up playing 28:08, five minutes below his season average. He missed eight of 12 shots, including all four three-pointers, and finished with 10 points. “He didn’t look like he was moving right,” Walton said Thursday night. “He truly loves to compete. I felt like my gut was that he wasn’t able to do what he wanted to do. Now he said he felt fine and he could play, but he didn’t look like his normal self.”
Dave McMenamin: Kyle Kuzma did not participate in shootaround but used the time to get treatment on his back. He’ll be at the game tonight and is considered questionable to play. Also, Michael Beasley returned to the team today.
Tania Ganguli: Kyle Kuzma will get an MRI in the morning for the contusion on his low back. He got hit at some point in the game and played with it for a bit.
Ryan Ward: For the #Lakers season finale against the #Clippers tonight, Lonzo Ball (knee) and Brandon Ingram (concussion protocol) have been ruled OUT. Kyle Kuzma (ankle) is questionable
Ohm Youngmisuk: Lonzo Ball (knee), Kyle Kuzma (ankle) and Brandon Ingram (concussion) are out tonight against Houston. Ingram will be re-evaluated tonight but even if cleared, he very well could sit out tomorrow's finale since it's a back-to-back.
Andy Larsen: Kyle Kuzma and Lonzo Ball are both questionable for tomorrow’s game against the Jazz. Ingram still out. Brook Lopez probable.
Ohm Youngmisuk: Kyle Kuzma's ankles are beat up. He was already playing through a sprained right ankle that has bothered him since college last year and now he has a mild left ankle sprain. With three games remaining in the season, Kuzma may have to rest his ankles although he typically tries to play through injuries. "I tried to move and push around [on the left ankle in the third quarter] but it is kind of hard to move around on two flat tires," Kuzma said about trying to play through the latest ankle injury in the third quarter before being ruled out of the game. "My body feels great. At the end of the day, it is just my ankles. I can't tell you anything right now [about playing in the final three games]... [this latest ankle injury is] just really throbbing. [It's] a little different than my last one. My last one was an inside sprain. This is an outside sprain."
Ohm Youngmisuk: Kyle Kuzma (ankle) is out Isaiah Thomas will start his first game for the Lakers alongside Lonzo Ball.
Ohm Youngmisuk: Kyle Kuzma (back spasms) is "good to go" against the Nuggets according to Luke Walton.
Kuzma felt better Thursday morning, but the Lakers gave him an MRI exam as a precaution. The exam was negative and Kuzma is day to day because of the tightness in his back. He is questionable for Saturday’s game against the Denver Nuggets.
Mark Medina: Lonzo Ball and Kyle Kuzma participated in team workout/walk trough today while Josh Hart & PJ Dozier received treatment.

You’re here for at least the next five years now that you’ve signed an extension. Do you allow yourself to think – or dream – about what might come over that time span since you’ve talked openly about wanting to win a title in New York? Have you allowed yourself to think about how things might progress? Julius Randle: Obviously, it’s a process. Everything is a process. We’ve been building this from the ground up. But for me, personally, that is the expectation (winning a title in New York). That’s what I want to happen within that time frame. There’s a lot of things, factors that go into that. So obviously you’ve got to weigh that stuff in.
Julius Randle: But as far as myself, I know Thibs (Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau) is thinking (it as well), it’s just win at all costs. For me personally, that’s just how I prepare myself. I prepare myself to compete at the highest level of our game. Like I said, there’s a lot of factors (that go into winning an NBA title). But I trust Leon (Knicks president Leon Rose), I trust Thibs, Wes (Knicks vice president William Wesley), our coaches, Scott (Knicks GM Scott Perry) – all these guys, I trust. That was part of my process in thinking of signing the extension and that’s my goal, that’s our goal as a team and the guys that are around us. We want to be able to say that we won a championship here in New York. I don’t think there’s any better feeling than that.
Did you guys see the video clip of Trae Young at the Garden with WWE? Do you care about that stuff? Julius Randle: Yeah I see it. But honestly, I don’t care. Obviously, that’s (for) entertainment purposes and all that (stuff), so I let people enjoy it. For me, honestly, I don’t care. I honestly didn’t even watch it. Knicks fans, they’re going to make a big deal out of it – they didn’t like it (laughs). But it’s all fun and games and hopefully they enjoyed it.

Rockets re-sign Dante Exum, waive Tyler Bey

The Rockets have officially re-signed guard Dante Exum and waived Tyler Bey to create a roster space for him, according to the NBA’s transactions log. Hoops Rumors’ JD Shaw was the first to report the Bey transaction (Twitter link). With John Wall not expected to play for the team this season as it seeks to trade him, the Rockets were in the market for another point guard. The Rockets’ interest in Exum surfaced on Tuesday.

Timberwolves sign Leandro Bolmaro

When the Timberwolves traded up to get Leandro Bolmaro last November in the 2020 NBA Draft (yes, it was less than a year ago… it still feels weird), the question was would it be a year or two before Bolmaro came over from Barcelona to play in the NBA. The answer is one. Minnesota reached a deal and Bolmaro will be with the Timberwolves in training camp, the team announced Saturday. This is not a surprise; he was expected to come over this season. He will be playing on a rookie scale contract.
