Knicks exploring moving up in next draft?

In the first clue that the Knicks have at least explored moving up from the No. 11 spot in next month’s NBA Draft, New York brass interviewed Purdue’s sophomore, uber-athletic combo guard Jaden Ivey at Chicago’s Draft Combine. The 6-foot-4 Ivey is considered a top-5 pick and has been ranked no lower than sixth in most top mock drafts.

On Wednesday, The Athletic reported that Nuggets paid Connelly below league average for executives. Booth now takes over most of the day-to-day. “The approach that Calvin Booth will take and the idea they’re already formulating inside that Denver Nuggets organization. I think this is an organization that you can expect to be aggressive and make moves moving forward here to try to get into championship contention,” Shams Charania said. “I don’t expect Calvin Booth to run a front office that will be shy about making the moves necessary to win a championship.”

“To be able to go get a guy like that when these guys don’t just grow on trees because of availability, and I think Minnesota targeted Connelly,” he said. “At $8 million per year over the next five years. We talked about ownership equity— it’s still unclear how that will come to fruition, but I’m told the opportunity to capitalize on that will be if Minnesota sells one day… when you package all that together from base salary to ownership equity, this is one of the most lucrative landmark contracts and in for an executive in the NBA. It just became an offer that was too lucrative and too good to pass up overall.”

With NBA guard Dennis Schroder as the driving force, the German Basketball Association held a presentation in Berlin regarding the national team’s participation in the upcoming EuroBasket. “It’s a new opportunity to make basketball even bigger in Germany. Everyone is already fired up,” the Houston Rockets guard said on Wednesday during a press conference in the Mercedes-Benz Arena.

Schroder will definitely be there in September and wants to persuade other NBA players to participate. He had already received a promise from Daniel Theis. “He said he was definitely up for it,” he said. Maxi Kleber (Dallas Mavericks) had told him he was in the mood, but had to look “how he feels” after an ankle injury. The two brothers hailing from Berlin, Moritz and Franz Wagner (both playing for the Orlando Magic), would probably also be available.

Marc J. Spears: Mavs say Tim Hardaway Jr. (left foot surgery) will miss Game 5 in Golden State.

NBA expanding to Seattle and Las Vegas after media rights deal expire?

The NBA has not added a new team in almost two decades, but the next round of expansion could be coming soon. During an appearance on 93.3 KJR, longtime columnist John Canzano reported that Seattle and Las Vegas have “already been earmarked” for expansion by the NBA. According to Canzano, the expansion is set to happen after the league’s current media rights deal expires in 2024.
