In 2004, Piatkowski was traded from the Houston Rockets to the Chicago Bulls, where he spent two seasons. “They’re showing the inside of the locker room (on the documentary,” Piatkowski said, “and it didn’t change one tiny bit from the time Jordan was there to the time I was there. I said to my wife, ‘Do you see where Jordan’s locker is?’ She says, ‘Yeah.’ I said, ‘That was my locker.'” Piatkowski adds that his wife was surprised to learn he shared the same locker as Jordan. “She goes, ‘So you had Jordan’s locker?'” Piatkowski said. “Yeah. For the first time in their 51-year history, the Clippers are going to the Western Conference finals, and they did it the only way this star-crossed franchise could do it — the hard way. Falling behind by 25 in the opening seconds of the third quarter, the Clippers mounted a furious, historic comeback, going on an improbable 75-40 run to eliminate the Utah Jazz with a 131-119 win and advance to face the Phoenix Suns.
The Clippers, who trailed by 22 at the half, completed the largest halftime comeback in a series-clinching win in NBA history, according to ESPN Stats & Information research. They’re also the first team to erase a 20-plus-point deficit in a series-clinching win over the past 25 seasons.
Ohm Youngmisuk: Ty Lue said the Clippers’ fan base has been “starving.” Walking through Staples concourse after the game, fans were celebrating walking out of each section jumping, cheering and chanting “Let’s Go Clippers!” Felt like 51 seasons of heartache and frustration being released at once
Michael Scotto: Paul George on the Clippers going to their first Western Conference Finals: “It was a special night. You felt the monkey off of the Clippers’ back in terms of getting out of the second round.”
Eric Walden: Mike: “Once Terance Mann started hitting 3s and getting to the rim, that changed the game. Reggie Jackson finishing at the rim was tough. We needed to help each other, and we were a step or two slow on every rotation. And you can’t do that in a hostile environment on the road.”
Ohm Youngmisuk: Pat Bev: “I was here when we were 8th seed, celebrating just to get into the playoffs… to finish a game like this, to make history, it’s special because blood, sweat and tears into this shit. Injuries, friends getting traded…to be last man standing + write history is special”
