Get Up: It is not a forgone conclusion that Ty Lue will end up as the Clippers' next head coach, according to @wojespn. "I'm told he's going to meet with New Orleans soon. Houston wants to talk him."
If Lue ends up with the Clippers and Chauncey Billups doesn’t land one of the other head coaching jobs (New Orleans, Houston, Indiana), then Billups could end up as Lue’s lead assistant. Several prominent members of the Clippers organization hold Billups in high regard, per sources. Billups was the club’s color analyst on television last season but, per ESPN, is interested in coaching.
Sixers assistant coach Kevin Young also interviewed for the head coaching job, and he made a strong impression on the organization, sources said. The Sixers also interviewed Clippers assistant Ty Lue this week, sources said, but Lue is emerging as a strong candidate to replace Rivers with the Clippers. The Clippers are planning to interview other candidates, starting soon, sources said.

Clippers assistant coach Tyronn Lue is among the candidates for the head coaching position, league sources confirmed to The Athletic. ESPN reported that ESPN NBA color commentator and former Knicks and Rockets head coach Jeff Van Gundy will also garner consideration.
As the Clippers move forward, they are embarking on a thorough coaching search. There is no clear-cut No. 1 candidate yet. The hiring process could take several weeks, though the team is open to offering the position to the right candidate immediately. This was a not a move they made with another coach waiting in the wings to be hired, league sources said.

O’Conner says the 76ers wanted a haul from the Spurs that included the Spurs sending Philadelphia one of their young core players and much more. “There’s so much stuff floating out there right now about the Sixers having outrageous demands like wanting four first-round draft picks, and three pick swaps, and a young player from the Spurs they say now. All these deals you hear about are outrageous. Nobody will do it for Ben Simmons.”
After falling to a dismal 17-55 record, the Rockets were rewarded with the coveted second overall draft pick. The Rockets are expected to land a future NBA All-Star talent during the draft. Stone says the Rockets have a talented young roster and it’s important to develop it. “This organization hasn’t been in a position to invest in the future like we are now. So I think it’s going to be fun for all of us as we’re kind of going into a new stage of the challenge,” Stone said.
On Jan. 13, Harden got his wish as he was dealt to the Nets in a four-team deal. Houston would eventually acquire All-Star guard Victor Oladipo, forward Rodions Kurucs, three first-round draft picks and four first-round pick swaps. Harden averaged 29.6 points, 7.7 assists and 6.0 rebounds over his 621 regular-season games with the Rockets. Stone said after the trade he and Harden cleared the air during a two-hour conversation. “Some of the things about the process bothered me. I’m sure they bothered him too, but I did feel good. For me, that conversation was very healthy,” Stone said. “I think it was for him, too.”
