Bickerstaff said Dante Exum, who was held out Wednesday because of a minor groin injury, has earned the backup point guard gig. He’s No. 6. Larry Nance Jr. — if he clears the concussion protocol after taking a nasty hit to the face that also, sources say, has him dealing with a sprained jaw — makes seven. Don’t forget, Nance might also play some 3 in the jumbo lineup, taking minutes away from the glut of true wings. JaVale McGee, who arrived in Cleveland late following a trade with the Lakers, is the backup center and eighth guy. That initially leaves room for two more and then a swing spot for some combination of Porter, Dotson, Osman and Windler.

Mirjam Swanson: Ty Lue on his assistant coach/good buddy Chauncey Billups: “I wanted to coach with him when I was in Cleveland but he didn’t want to coach. I tease him all the time, he missed out on $15-18 million dollars” because he would’ve been a head coach for a few seasons already.
