Gerald Bourguet: Monty Williams said Abdel Nader is for sure not playing in the season opener. Said the Suns will have a better picture on everyone else tomorrow
The Oklahoma City Thunder announced today that forward Abdel Nader sustained a concussion during last night’s 98-84 scrimmage victory against the Boston Celtics and he has been placed in the NBA’s concussion protocol. Per the NBA’s Concussion Policy, Nader will now begin the NBA-mandated Return-to-Participation Protocol. This process includes a series of steps designed to ensure an athlete exhibits symptom-free behavior before resuming basketball activities. There is no predetermined timetable to complete the protocol, as each injury and player is different and recovery time can vary in each case.
Brett Dawson: Abdel Nader (illness) listed as questionable for the Thunder tomorrow against Orlando.
Erik Horne: Hawks coach Lloyd Pierce says John Collins is out. Rookie Omari Spellman to start. Abdel Nader is out for the Thunder.
Brett Dawson: Per Billy Donovan, Paul George will play tomorrow at Minnesota. Abdel Nader still out. Russell Westbrook and Andre Roberson remain out.
Erik Horne: Skeleton crew for the Thunder’s preseason opener: Paul George not in attendance due to personal reasons. Alex Abrines (back spasms), Abdel Nader (left knee soreness) both out.
Abdel Nader, who missed the scrimmage with left knee soreness, was rested and did not practice Tuesday. The Thunder will decide Wednesday if Abrines and Nader are available for the preseason opener against Detroit.
On training camp coming up: Abdel Nader: Just be ready, be in shape - coming off my wrist injury. I broke my arm and my wrist last year, so I’ve been working on, grinding through that. It’s really been a blessing getting traded here to Oklahoma City. I’m ready to get started.
