More on Derrick White Injury

Shams Charania: Spurs guard Derrick White has suffered a minor fracture on a toe in his left foot and his return will be based on response to rehab, sources tell @The Athletic @Stadium.
The Spurs have removed guard Derrick White from their injury report, an indication that he could return to action as soon as Friday night against the Lakers at the AT&T Center. Thursday's injury list was limited to forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who has been upgraded to questionable after sitting out Wednesday's 121-107 loss to the Lakers with a sore left knee, and guard Quinndary Weatherspoon, who has been sidelined since the summer after undergoing left knee surgery.
Paul Garcia: Coach Pop says same starters for the Spurs and Derrick White is available.
Jeff McDonald: Derrick White, who showed up on this morning's injury report as questionable with a bruised glute, will "probably give it a go" tonight, per Pop. Trae Young (ankle) to play for Atlanta but will be limited to 30 minutes per Lloyd Pierce.
Spurs guard Derrick White hit his forehead on the court in a nasty spill during Team USA's 98-94 loss to Australia on Saturday in Melbourne, Australia. USA Basketball announced that White had made the final World Cup roster, but his status for the start of the tournament in China appears to be uncertain after he was tripped while dribbling downcourt midway through the fourth quarter and hit his forehead on the court.
White left the game with a sizeable ice pack on the left side of his head, the Associated Press reported. ESPN reported that "White is recovering" after the third-year guard needed four stitches to close a gash over his left eye.

Second-year pro Derrick White, who had emerged as one of the team’s most important pieces before missing the first five games of the rodeo road trip with a plantar fascia injury in his right foot, traveled with the Spurs to Toronto for the start of leg 2. Though the 24-year-old White has not been formally ruled in for tonight’s game against the Raptors at Scotiabank Arena, he’s listed as probable. Coach Gregg Popovich showed confidence he at least would be ready to return at some point on the trip that moves on to New York on Sunday and Brooklyn on Monday.
Jeff McDonald: Small bit of positive news from Pop pregame tonight. Expectation is Derrick White could be back "pretty soon after the All-Star break."
RJ Marquez: Derrick White (right heel soreness) is OUT for tomorrow’s Spurs game at #Kings, per team. White has been solid for Spurs through January, hasn’t missed game since return from injury to begin season. #NBA #GoSpursGo
Guard Derrick White could make his season debut against the Heat on Wednesday in Miami after the Spurs listed him as probable in their injury report released Tuesday night. White has been sidelined since he tore a ligament in his foot late in the preseason. He was slated to start at point guard after Dejounte Murray suffered a season-ending knee injury in the preseason.
Paul Garcia: Derrick White has been upgraded to probable for Wednesday’s game in Miami. Pau Gasol (right foot soreness), Rudy Gay, Murray, and Walker IV are all out.
Popovich continued his assessment saying White is on his feet as his recovery continues. "He’s on the court now kind of walking around, trotting around, and putting some weight on his foot," Popovich said.
Spurs guard Derrick White said Wednesday his recovery from a torn ligament in his left foot has been free of setbacks and is "going in the right direction." White suffered the injury in a preseason game Oct. 10 at Atlanta. Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said the next day the second-year pro would miss six to eight weeks.

Kevin Durant to still serve as All-Star captain

The Brooklyn Nets’ Kevin Durant will still serve as an NBA All-Star Game captain despite a hamstring injury that will keep him from playing. Durant and fellow All-Star Game captain LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers will each draft a roster out of the pool of selected All-Stars. The All-Star draft will air on TNT on March 4. It remained unclear whether Durant will travel to Atlanta for the game on March 7.
A Knicks official said Rivers was at the Garden, but in the back getting treatment for a sore ankle. Rivers was not listed on the pregame injury report submitted to the NBA. On the box score, Rivers was listed with a DNP-Coach’s Decision. Earlier this week, Rivers said of his situation: “I can’t control if I’m traded today, tomorrow or the next day. What I can control is how I am as a player.’’

That doesn’t mean he’s a finished product. There’s a reason the Raptors signed him with G League intentions and not for the NBA roster. The 10-day contract (about $82,000) affords them six games to see how he can fit and progress in their environment. It’s an audition by another name, and not the first time the Raptors have used a 10-day to get a 905 look at a prospect. “This gives us a chance to get Donta down in our system, teach him our ins and outs and the way we operate our offence, our defence, our schemes, and see how he looks running those,” general manager Chad Sanders said. “With Tampa just down the street, it’s a chance for us to get him out there and get some reps and get a chance to evaluate him for the big club.”
Among active superstars, Doncic’s game might be most similar to that of perennial MVP candidate James Harden, who acknowledged Saturday night that he considers those comparisons legitimate. “There are some similarities,” Harden said after the Mavs’ 115-98 road win snapped the Brooklyn Nets’ eight-game winning streak. “He never lets anyone speed him up, and he gets what he wants. That’s rare for a guy at a young age. I think he’s 21 years old. And to be able to dictate the game and control the game like he does, we all know he has a very, very bright future. “The Mavs got a special one.”
