There is a long way to go until the March 25 trade deadline, but several teams that would be in the hunt for Beal do not expect him to become available this season. “(The Wizards) have maintained what they’ve always maintained,” one rival executive said. “They’re building something in Washington around Beal.”

Tyler Herro expected to miss Game 6 against Celtics

Miami Heat guard Tyler Herro is not expected to play Friday in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference finals against the Boston Celtics with a groin injury, league sources told Yahoo Sports.
Herro, 22, participated in parts of shootaround Friday morning, but he experienced some discomfort while sliding defensively, sources said. The Heat and Herro do not want to put his health at risk, particularly if he steps on the court prematurely and suffers a long-term injury that could require offseason surgery.

Gary Washburn: Marcus Smart and Robert Williams will be tested pregame and remain game-time decisions. Udoka is not giving any early hints. #Celtics #Heat.
Jeff Goodman: Furman guard Mike Bothwell, who led the Paladins in scoring at 15.7 points per game last season, will withdraw from the NBA Draft process and return to school, source told @Stadium.
Jeff Goodman: Furman forward Jalen Slawson, who averaged 14.5 points and 7.4 rebounds last season, will also withdraw from the NBA Draft and return to the Paladins, source told @Stadium. Bob Richey’s team should be loaded this season.
Viewership for this year’s five-game series finished up 35% over TNT’s 2021 NBA Eastern Conference Finals coverage (Hawks/Bucks, 5.0 million viewers, six games) and up 23% when compared with last year’s Western Conference Finals (Clippers/Suns, 5.5 million viewers, six games).

Zach LaVine an option for Mavericks?

Sources nonetheless maintain that one option already being weighed by team brass is the prospect of joining the sign-and-trade bidding for the Chicago Bulls’ Zach LaVine, amid a growing belief around the league that LaVine, as he heads into free agency, has more interest in leaving Chicago than initially presumed. Atlanta, Portland and San Antonio — all of whom possess either the cap space or the trade pieces to more readily chase him — have already been mentioned as likely LaVine suitors.
