Scott Agness: Doug McDermott (right knee bruise) will NOT play tonight vs Bulls. T.J. McConnell starts. It happened in the first half of Saturday’s win in Atlanta. He played 20mins in the second half, including the entire 4Q. An MRI returned “clean,” Nate Bjorkgren said.

McDermott felt good. He figured he would be exiting the NBA's concussion protocol shortly and returning to trying to space the floor for teammates like Jimmy Butler and Dwyane Wade. The specialist put him through a battery of tests. "And then I got into the cab to get home and I just completely lost my head," McDermott said. "I didn't know where I was in Chicago. I finally got back to my place and just had a crazy headache. That's when I was like, 'Dang, this will take longer than I thought.' It was a real low point."
"There are still times it takes me a little bit to think of a play. That's something the specialist told me would take a little bit of time," McDermott said. "Coaches are aware of that when we go through walk-through and stuff. I may be a little slow. But I feel good. I've been sleeping good, no headaches."

Nick Friedell: Bulls are awaiting MRI results on Michael Carter-Williams' sprained left knee. Doug McDermott is in the league's concussion protocol -- but Bulls coach Fred Hoiberg is hopeful McDermott will be able to play Wednesday vs. Boston.
Doug McDermott underwent an MRI on his injured right knee Tuesday, and the Bulls listed the second-year forward as day to day with a strain. McDermott had a portion of his right meniscus removed in December 2014. There is no plan for a second surgery. "It's not in the joint," coach Fred Hoiberg said when asked about the possibility of a scope.
