TNT could have a completely new look with its top NBA broadcast team next season, The Post has learned. While Marv Albert’s legendary career may conclude after he does the Eastern Conference finals, sources said Chris Webber’s return for next year is also very much in question.
In March, Webber did not help himself — if he wishes to continue to call games — by informing Turner officials very late that he would not do the NCAA Tournament that took place in a “bubble” format in Indianapolis. Though TNT has been very understanding about COVID concerns throughout the pandemic, the fact Webber waited until the last moment before bailing was looked upon as poor form.
Chris Fedor: The view of Kevin around the league and the view of Kevin within the organization is very, very different. So the rest of the NBA is telling the Cavs, We’re doing you a favor by taking Kevin, you give us something, you give us a draft pick in this stage of a rebuild with somebody who, on the court, the Cavs still feel like can be an asset.
Vildoza could join the Knicks in time for the playoffs, but this signing is more about the future. Sources contend a handful of teams would have been interested in Vildoza as an August free agent. The Knicks’ three point guards — Elfrid Payton, Derrick Rose and Frank Ntilikina — all will be free agents after the season.
Brandon Rahbar: Ty Jerome on Daigneault saying Kenrich was the most respected guy in the locker room. “Hands down. Definitely true. He’s become one of the guys we look to. If it was up to him, he’d play 48 minutes a game.” OKC had suitors for Kenny Hustle at the trade deadline but said NOPE.
Scott Agness: Caris LeVert called the last few days different and unique. “We’ve had a lot of speculation surrounding the team. We just wanted to come together tonight and play for each other, have a lot of fun and just block out the noise, and I feel like that’s what we did tonight.”
Doncic addressed the issue during his postgame interview with the TNT crew after the Mavericks’ 113-109 win over the Brooklyn Nets and elaborated in a virtual media availability minutes later. “I realize it,” Doncic said. “It’s something that I’m not supposed to do. [It’s difficult] with all the emotions in games, but obviously I’ve got to stop. It’s just hard for me on the court with all the emotions, but I realize it and I’ve got to work on this. It’s tough to do it, but I’ve got to work on it and be way better than this.”
