It’s not just the dunks. Griffin has been genuinely good for the Nets, with a True Shooting Percentage of just under 60 on decent usage. He has also made up for his physical erosion to some degree with defensive craftiness. For better or worse, Griffin leads the league in charges drawn with 22 and is tied for tenth in overall offensive fouls drawn with 28. He is just fractions away from being one of only five players to average more than one offensive foul drawn per 36 minutes, with a 0.99 mark, trailing Garrison Matthews, Lu Dort, Michael Carter-Williams and Raul Neto. For what it’s worth, I don’t think Griffin was sandbagging in Detroit. Even though he only managed 38 games with the Pistons after that 2018-19 run, he played 29.9 minutes in those games, starting them all.
