Tom Orsborn: Pop, turning to an oldie but a goodie when asked what stands out for him about the surging Kings when “he’s looked” at them lately: “I haven’t watched them play. It’s not like we are, you know, 45-0 and I have time to worry about somebody else’s team.”

Dave McMenamin: The Hawks come back from down 2-1 in the series, down 18 points in Game 4 and down 26 points in Game 5 to beat the Sixers, 103-96, in Game 7. A brutal loss for Philadelphia, losing on its home court in a game Hawks star Trae Young is held to 5-for-23 shooting.
This offseason, Embiid is once again extension eligible but at a higher price tag and possible financial risk exposure to the 76ers in the future. By earning All-NBA in 2020-21, Embiid met the supermax criteria and is eligible to sign an extension for four years and up to $190 million. The dollar amount is based off 35% of the projected $121.5 million cap in 2023-24 and could increase.
For its part, the franchise is committed to the rapid timeline. They allowed Griffin to pull the plug after handing out two lucrative contracts, paying more than $12 million combined to send Gentry and Van Gundy packing. And now, they’re giving Griffin the flexibility to hire yet another coach. One who wants to work with Williamson, and channel his frustration into passion toward turning the franchise into a winning direction. It shouldn’t be a hard sell. Sources indicate the issue is far more about losing games than anything intrinsically about New Orleans, including the small market footprint.
Tommy Beer: Since being drafted with the #1 overall pick in the 2016 NBA draft, Ben Simmons has played in 309 games in both the regular season and playoffs. He had never scored in single digits in three consecutive contests – until the final three games of this series.
Michael Scotto: Doc Rivers on Ben Simmons: “Obviously, he struggled from the free throw line, and that became a factor in this series. There’s no doubt about that. I still believe in him, but we have work to do. We’re going to have to get in the gym, put a lot of work in, and go forward.”
