Daniel Theis will miss the remainder of the season with a torn left meniscus. Yahoo Sports’ Shams Charania was first to report. Theis’ recovery period will be determined based on the damage found by surgeons, but he is expected to miss the remainder of the season, according to a person with knowledge of the injury. he person spoke with Celtics Wire under the condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the situation.
The main factor in [Daniel Theis'] recovery time will be whether doctors elect to perform an arthroscopic debridement procedure, which removes a piece of the meniscus where it is torn, or a full repair. A debridement of the meniscus typically has a 2-3 month recovery period, while a full repair can require at least double the recovery time. The scope of the surgery will be determined by the imaging and examination already being done, as well as the condition of the meniscus when they go in for surgery.
