Stadium: "Sources tell me Beal right now has no desire to leave the Wizards." NBA Insider @ShamsCharania reports on Bradley Beal as the Lakers-Wizards work to complete Russell Westbrook trade, presented by @ATT 5G.
Chris Mannix: As others have noted, Westbrook deal not seen as a precursor to a Beal trade, per sources. Moving Westbrook creates future cap flexibility. Beal, of course, with a contract he can opt out of after next season, still wields a lot of power in this situation.
Fred Katz: The Lakers would be Russell Westbrook’s fourth team in as many seasons. 2018-19 with the Thunder, 2019-20 with the Rockets and 2020-21 with the Wizards. Each team change would come with Westbrook encouraging his way to a new destination.
Adrian Wojnarowski: This is a trade Washington wants to make with Bradley Beal in mind, creating some salary cap flexibility for the future to add talent around him, sources tell ESPN. The idea of returning to his Los Angeles roots has been appealing to Westbrook.
Bobby Marks: Salary implications on a proposed Westbrook trade: To LAL Russell Westbrook 2021/22- $44.2M 2022/23- $47.1M (P) To WAS Kyle Kuzma 2021/22- $13M 2022/23- $13M 2023/24- $13M (P) Montrezl Harrell 2021/22- $9.7M KCP 2021/22- $13M 2022/23- $14M ($4.9M guaranteed)
Adrian Wojnarowski: The Lakers are near a deal to acquire Washington's Russell Westbrook for Kyle Kuzma, Montrezl Harrell, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and a 2021 first-round pick, sources tell ESPN.
Shams Charania: Lakers and Wizards are in serious talks on a Russell Westbrook trade to L.A., sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. Westbrook has become the Lakers‘ primary focus. He would give them a dynamic playmaker alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
Shams Charania: Just in: The Lakers and Wizards are engaged on a trade that would send Russell Westbrook to L.A., sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium . Westbrook wants a move elsewhere and the Lakers are his preferred destination, sources said.
Shams Charania: The Lakers and Wizards are discussing a trade that would send Kyle Kuzma, Montrezl Harrell, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope for Westbrook, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium . The Lakers' No. 22 pick in the Draft could be in play, too.
Lastly, the Lakers rumors have not gone away. Los Angeles has been linked by multiple sources to having interest in attaining Russell Westbrook, although the cap gymnastics to acquire the 2017 MVP will surely be tricky. It remains clear that Los Angeles' main objective this offseason is to find an on-ball creator that can lessen the playmaking duties of LeBron James.
Los Angeles Lakers fans are getting excited over some Instagram activity involving the wife of Russell Westbrook. An Instagram user pointed out that Anthony Davis and LeBron James are now following Nina Westbrook on Instagram. Nina is Russell’s wife.
Westbrook's availability may be the most fleeting. Whispers around the NBA suggest James would love to team up with the explosive guard. How would teams defend two triple-double powerhouses like James and Westbrook? On most nights, they don't... That said, when asked, various NBA executives believe Westbrook will eventually sign his deal with the Thunder.
At the top of the Lakers’ wish list has to be LeBron James, as the four-time MVP has reached the NBA Finals the last seven seasons and reports around the league suggest that James could be interested in signing with Los Angeles. If the Lakers are able to convince James to make the move then he will likely be involved in the recruiting process to get another star to join him, and according to Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report, Westbrook could be his first choice: Whispers around the NBA suggest James would love to team up with the explosive guard.
Erik Horne: Russell Westbrook shouting out the entire Lakers Hall of Fame when asked about the trade deadline today: On if he keeps up with what's going on around the league at the deadline: Like I've always said, I never worry about the other team. I don't care if the Lakers got Magic Johnson, James Worthy, Kareem, Kobe, it don't matter. All my job is to worry about our team, who we got here and we go out and compete. The trade stuff is a part of the game. It's a part of the NBA. Different guys go to different teams, but our job is to worry about our team. At least that's my job, is to worry about what's going on here, how we can improve.
In two years, two sons of Southern California – Indiana’s Paul George and Oklahoma City’s Westbrook – can become free agents and consider coming home. In their recent state of disrepair, the Lakers have been fully unappealing to superstar free agents. Kevin Durant wouldn’t take a meeting with them. The Lakers called the reps of Memphis’ Mike Conley on July 1, only to be told they wouldn’t be seriously considered. Miami center Hassan Whiteside passed, too.
So Jim told people that Carmelo Anthony was coming the next summer. He told people that Howard was staying the previous year. He told people as soon as the Lakers' recent season was winding down that Kevin Durant was coming this summer…with Russell Westbrook the next.
Would you like to play for the Lakers? Westbrook: "Nah, I like where I am now. Oklahoma City is a great place for me."
Reporter: What was your team growing up? Westbrook: "What was my team? Lakers" Reporter: So you were dreaming of playing with Lakers as a child? Westbrook: "Nah, nah, I never thought I'd play in the NBA. I was just watching them."
"Keep in mind this, one of the biggest reasons I'm told, that Kevin Durant may have the Lakers at the top of his list, is because the Lakers have been led to believe, by whom specifically I do not know, but the Lakers have been led to believe that it is a very good chance that the following year Russell Westbrook is coming."
Stephen A. Smith: "They love each other, and they love being on the same team with one another. And if it so happens to be in the L.A. market, all the better. I'm not saying it is done. (...) It's a big possibility."

Source: The situation between Jordan Poole and Draymond Green had been building up. There was a lot of chatter which led to that altercation. Draymond Green apologized to the team. Feels that as a leader, he let his emotions get the best of him, in turn letting the team down.
“It’s part of the NBA, man,” Rozier told Heavy. “You’ve got to accept things that happen. You’ve got to live with things. Sometimes you’ve got to be without people, and that’s just what it is. It’s part of the NBA. “You know, that’s my brother. We definitely miss him. We’ll let that thing play out. I don’t want to speak too much on that, but we’re waiting for him when things get right. Other than that, we don’t use that as a distraction. We’ve got our team here, and that’s what we’re working with.”
Mike Finger: Victor Wembanyama, on if he feels more famous today than he did yesterday: “A little bit.” On what he wants to do in Vegas before he leaves: “I don’t plan on gambling at all.” On if he’s sick of us yet: “Yes. I’m joking. Please don’t write bad about me.”
