Following Team USA’s win over France in the gold medal game, Durant and Draymond Green took to Instagram Live to roast Kendrick Perkins and their doubters who thought they would be falling short of a medal finish, let alone gold. “Everybody who said we were going to take the L. … They had some power rankings out. They had us fourth behind Slovenia. Come on, man,” Durant said. “Talking about they’re catching up to us, like, are you serious? This skill is unmatched, you dig?”

More on Durant-Perkins Beef

Perkins’s critiques of Irving ruffled feathers, none more than Durant’s, Irving’s close friend. Once airtight—Durant singled Perkins out in his MVP acceptance speech in 2014—the relationship had unraveled. Last January, Perkins tweeted that Russell Westbrook was the best player in Thunder history. As Perkins argued his point in his mentions—“Sometimes I like to start bar fights in the comments,” he concedes—Durant chimed in with a few of Perkins’s stats. Perkins responded by calling Durant’s decision to leave Oklahoma City for Golden State “the weakest move in NBA history.”
Perkins says he has no relationship with Durant now. And that he doesn’t need one. “Think about this,” Perkins says. “I'm still cool with all my friends, everybody from the NBA family I still could call, I still go to dinner with, I still hang with, we still good people. They know I got a job to do. Except for one person. That's Kevin Durant. So guess what? That tells me that I'm doing my job well and I'm staying loyal to my brotherhood. Especially the people that I know. Only sensitive guys get mad because you got to talk about them in the media.”

Kendrick Perkins: My Top 5 Small Forwards of All-Time... 1. LeBron James 2. Larry Bird 3. Scottie Pippen 4. Kevin Durant 5. Paul Pierce
Former Oklahoma City Thunder teammates Kendrick Perkins and Kevin Durant have endured a rocky relationship over the past several months. Most notably, the two engaged in a Twitter back-and-forth in January stemming from Perkins' declaration that Russell Westbrook was the best player in Thunder history. Now, Perkins says he wishes he took a different approach in the exchange, while also stating that Durant is the best player in the history of the Warriors. "If I could have handled it any other way, I would have," Perkins told the Runnin' Plays Podcast, which will release Tuesday. "I would have took a different approach. I wouldn't have fired back at him."
Perkins also gave insight as to why he chose Westbrook over Durant in his Thunder rankings, saying there's a distinction between "greatest" and "best." He used the same distinction while stating Durant's place in Golden State lore. "It's just like if you talk about the Golden State Warriors, Steph Curry is the greatest Golden State Warrior of all time. You talk about the Toronto Raptors. Kyle Lowry is the greatest Raptor of all time. Does that mean that they're the best player that ever came through? "No. We all know that KD is the best player, in my opinion, to wear a Warriors jersey. We all know that KD was the best Thunder to wear a Thunder jersey."
“What people don’t understand is that KD thought I was shooting a slug at him — I wasn’t,” Perkins said. “I was praising Russell Westbrook on his day. What people don’t understand is, Russ, to me, is the greatest Thunder of all time. Is he the best player to ever wear a Thunder jersey? No, that’s Kevin Durant. But Russell Westbrook is the greatest Thunder of all time.” “In my opinion, I think that Kyle Lowry is the greatest Raptor of all time. Is he the best Raptor to ever put on the jersey? No, but he’s the greatest player in the franchise’s history. That’s my opinion, and KD was so caught up in thinking that I’m shooting a slug at him, which I wasn’t. At the end of the day, we had a little Twitter beef, but it ain’t nothing that we haven’t gotten past or anything to that nature.”

But the spat with Durant, one might argue, was precisely a case of Perkins propping up his close friend, Westbrook, at Durant’s expense. In early January, Perkins announced (via Twitter) he was about to go on “Sportscenter” and explain why Westbrook was the “best player to ever put on a Thunder jersey.” Durant, as you may imagine, was not impressed.
At the end of the day, we had a little Twitter beef, but it ain’t nothing that we haven’t gotten past or anything to that nature.”
In a recent interview on The Michael Ray Show, Kleiman expressed that it was completely pointless to even mention the Nets forward’s name in Russel Westbrook’s homecoming game. “It was inherently just pointless. Because it was Russell’s night. He deserved all the attention last night. And that statement was probably said for what ensued — for more people to watch Perk on TV. For more people to click on his Instagram or his Twitter page. And there are some people who should be off limits from that. And Perk knows that. And Perk knows that KD is a made man now. “I just think Perk shouldn’t be speaking on him,” Kleiman also said. “Perk knows what kind of person KD is. Perk was there for it. And he also knows what kind of friend KD has been to him. So I think it was ridiculous that he would speak on it, to be honest.”
Speaking with reporters on Friday, the Oklahoma City Thunder center had a funny reaction to the Twitter feud between Kevin Durant and Kendrick Perkins, saying that they were probably just bored. “Ah you know how it is, mate,” said Adams, per Erik Horne of The Athletic. “They’re both a bit bored, aye? They’re not doing much so they’re probably just bored, mate. But it’s entertaining for you guys I bet, yeah?! You guys getting a little kick out of it? “I wouldn’t say [it’s] interesting,” Adams went on. “It’s just some bickering. What’s interesting is the political stuff. American politics. That’s interesting. Not just two players bickering. C’mon.”

Gilbert Arenas: @therealkendrickperkins everyone has there opinion about @easymoneysniper GS move and as a hooper u should have put more thought into what u said so I'll give u an history lesson.. 2012 a young and upcoming okc team went to the finals being (inexperience) they lost to the HEAT... 2013 the team didn't succeed like they would have wanted.that summer OKC ownership made the dumbest move by not securing (harden) if u can put harden back.(KD/Russ/harden) was more powerful then (curry/klay/green) which later became the team too beat (GS 1 ring ) could have been Easily been (OKC 3 peat if harden never left) but let's keep moving..now 2016 okc takes. 3-1 to GS and loses.cavs won the championship that season.KD is a free agent....here's where short minded thinkers fail to realize @easymoneysniper had no choice..OKC was moving backwards in progress..NOW here's why KD had no choice.
Gilbert Arenas: You guys sit on tv with pushing rings and legacy down fans throats so KD is a free agent at 27 years old with a sheet that looks like this👀7 time all star.7 time all Nba...4 time scoring champ..1 time mvp..2 time allstar mvp.2 time gold medalists💯 there's not 5 NBA players in history that can say they were FIRST BALLET HALL OF FAMERS by 27...the only thing needed as an individual player was (ring and finals mvp) now let's take a look at opinions..only two teams that can give him those two boxes were GS and cavs who were the champs..being the champs cavs wasn't making a move..actually like me say this better..
Gilbert Arenas: CAVS being cheap a---- wasn't gonna sign KD (Dan Gilbert bought that team in 2005) the biggest outside free agent they have signed was @thereallhughes in 2005...that was 15 years ago...contracts has double since then and that's still the biggest outside free agent signings 🤔🤦🏾‍♂️ so the only team that's left was GS....as someone checking boxes off his nba career that was the smartest move he could have made💯 I'm sorry Kendrick but everyone is not lucky enough to be a sorry a-- rebuilding Boston team and bam bam two ex Boston players (Danny A and mchale) does a deal that makes u a champ... Now u think u light skinned with ya chest out 😂 PS I agree with 99% of the stuff u spit tho 💯👌🏾

Luka Doncic plans to win gold in EuroBasket

“Who’s talking about what kind of pressure?” Doncic joked when asked about the Slovenia national team’s goal and explain that he is aiming for the top again: “We are going to Germany to win gold. In every competition where we compete, the goal must always be the first place. We will do everything for it, but we will see if we make it. In 2017, no one took us seriously when we announced our attack on the gold medal, today is different. It’s nice when you see that everyone will make an extra effort against us to win”.
Apparently, Cuban was already in deep discussions with then-Los Angeles Lakers owner Jerry Buss about a potential blockbuster deal: “I was going back and forth with Dr. Buss, and I forgot who called who, I think he called me, actually, and said, ‘Look, we think we might be parting ways with Kobe,’” Cuban said. As it turns out, however, the deal “all fall apart” when Cuban told a Lakers PR guy named Elvis about it. Word quickly spread and Cuban believes Mitch Kupchak ended up convincing Kobe to stay in LA.

Tyler Herro: Trade rumors don't bother me

Another offseason, another summer of trade rumors. That had Tyler Herro offering a resigned smile Tuesday at a Miami Heat back-to-school event at Target at Dadeland Station. “I mean, every summer, that’s just what it is,” Herro said after helping a group of youths fill their back-to-school carts. “I mean, ever since I’ve been here, my name’s been in rumors. So rumors, like I said last summer, they don’t bother me. I’m just getting ready for this season and whether I’m on the Heat or somewhere else, I’m getting ready for the season.”
