The Brooklyn Nets will enter their highly anticipated meeting with the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday short-handed, without sharpshooter Joe Harris and veteran Paul Millsap. While All-Star Kevin Durant (sore right shoulder) isn't listed on the injury report, the Nets ruled out starting swingman Harris due to a left ankle sprain suffered in the first half of the team's win in Oklahoma City on Sunday. Millsap will miss his second straight game because of personal reasons.

Nets coach Steve Nash delivered a bit of welcome news after Tuesday’s practice when he said Joe Harris, who missed the final three games of the regular season with a left gluteal strain, should be ready to go Saturday for Game 1 of the playoffs. Harris led the Nets by shooting 47.5 percent from 3-point range and making the second-highest total of 3s in single-season franchise history (211).

Brooklyn’s final game last month was a road win over the Los Angeles Lakers. Harris, a 6-6 swingman, scored 12 points in the Nets’ 104-102 victory but severely sprained his left ankle at Staples Center that night. “So I was going to be out a month, no matter what, and then [the NBA shutdown] went down literally the next day,” Harris said. “I wasn’t even with the team. I flew back to New York with one of our trainers, and we were supposed to play at Golden State [on March 12]. The rest of the team was in San Francisco, and they just had to pack up their stuff and leave from there.”
His ankle has healed, Harris said, but he still reports to the Nets’ practice facility to work on his mobility and stability. “The only loophole that I have right now is that the NBA allowed guys that were in the midst of rehab go into the facility and work with the trainer, so I’ve been able to do that for the last few weeks,” Harris said. “But when I go in, I have to wear a mask and gloves the entire time, and only you and the trainer are allowed in there.”

Prior to Harris’ injury, the Cavs had looked for trade suitors for him, according to a team source, in order to gain some roster flexibility and avoid some of the luxury tax hit associated with a 15th man who did not fit in Cleveland coach David Blatt’s rotation. Suitors were hard to come by with Harris’ underwhelming showing for the Canton Charge, the Cavs’ D-League affiliate, this season. He averaged 16.4 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.6 assists but shot just 39.7 percent from the field and 32.3 percent on 3-pointers in 10 games with Canton.
Second-year Cleveland Cavaliers guard Joe Harris will undergo potentially season-ending surgery on his right foot, Harris’ agent, Mark Bartelstein, told ESPN.com on Tuesday. “There is an extra bone in his foot that is causing irritation, and the plan is to have it removed,” Bartelstein said.
Harris did not accompany the Cavs on their six-game road trip beginning Wednesday against the Washington Wizards, according to Bartelstein. A team source told ESPN.com that Harris will seek a second opinion on his foot, but the expectation is he will undergo surgery sometime next week.
