Former pro basketball player Devean George is working on a project that would bring a significant new housing and commercial development to the city of Brooklyn Park. George is behind the Village Creek Apartments, a project that’s been in the works for several years. On Monday, the Brooklyn Park Economic Development Authority (EDA) approved a financing arrangement to assist in the development of the 5-story building, which would contain 83 housing units with 19 of those set aside for lower incomes. It would take over vacant land at 7621 Brooklyn Boulevard currently owned by the EDA.
Former Green Bay Packers receiver Donald Driver bought a $3 million Brewer's Hill loft from former Milwaukee Bucks forward Jabari Parker. The 6,800-square-foot residence on Palmer Street was an empty warehouse before Parker revitalized it into a spacious loft. Driver purchased the home on Feb. 21, according to real estate records.

The 4,267-square-foot home at 1611 W. 24th St. was purchased by 1611 W. 24 LLC, managed by Oren Alexander, a luxury residential agent with Douglas Elliman. Sladja Stantic of One Sotheby's International Realty brokered the deal, which equated to $2,285 a square foot.
Hotelier and businessman Ricky Newman and NBA star José Juan Barea have teamed up to build a $7 million multi-sport complex with lodging located at the former facilities of the Nuestra Señora de la Merced school in Hato Rey, they announced. The sports development complex called JUMP Sports Development Center is a multi-use facility consisting of indoor and outdoor spaces. The project that spans five acres of land, will provide “exceptional and high caliber sports training while endorsing sports tourism in Puerto Rico.”
A former NBA player sold his waterfront North Palm Beach home for $7.5 million. Tayshaun Prince and his wife, Farah, sold their house at 796 Harbour Isles Court to Las Vegas-based Tequila Little Time LLC, records show.
Prince and his wife bought the house in September 2014 from John and Emmi Mieras for $3.1 million. In January 2015, they contracted with Philip E. Johnson for interior and exterior remodeling, records show. Built in 2002, the 6,595-square-foot home sits on one-third of an acre, according to property records.
A former Orlando Magic player who recently bought a shopping center has just flipped it for a profit. Victor Oladipo's VO Spv Real Estate LLC sold Metro Station at 2252 S. Kirkman Road on Dec. 20 to Aventura-based Shaked 25 LLC for $8.33 million, according to Orange County property records. Oladipo purchased the property in June 2021 for $7.6 million, netting a roughly $800,000 profit within six months.
Oladipo had another local property sell recently. On Dec. 3, he sold his Orlando home at 9221 Bayway Drive for $1.6 million. The 5,322-square-foot custom home includes six bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms, as well as a shoe room connected to the master bedroom with space for over 450 pairs of sneakers.
A Sixers team official confirmed with Action News that the home of point guard Tyrese Maxey caught fire Friday night in Voorhees, New Jersey. The incident happened around 7 p.m. on the first block of Fairway Drive.
Everyone was reported safe, and the team is working with Maxey to make sure he and his family have everything they need. At this time, there are no reported injures, and the cause of the fire remains unknown.

Admiral Capital Group, a New York-based real estate investment firm co-founded by NBA Hall of Famer David Robinson, has made another office buy in North Texas. Admiral Capital has been acquiring properties in the Dallas-Fort Worth area since 2019. The investor’s latest purchase is an almost 200,000-square-foot office campus in Plano. NBA player Tim Hardaway Jr. has sold his waterfront home in the gated community of Normandy Isle in Miami Beach, Florida, for $6.75 million, netting more than $2 million in profit in two years. The 5,239-square-foot house was listed for $7 million in July with Isaac Malagon of Empire Network Realty. It went into contract in just over 10 days and the transaction closed last week, listing records show.
Hoops star James Johnson, who just signed with the Brooklyn Nets, has also signed a lease to rent a Tribeca pad at 57 Reade St. Johnson, 34, is a 12-year NBA veteran. “He toured the apartment in late September and signed the lease in early October. He loves the layout and the location,” a source close to the deal told Gimme. The three-bedroom, three-bathroom condo was asking $16,500 a month to rent.
Last week, Los Angeles Lakers co-owner Jesse Buss put his Los Angeles mansion on the market for about $10.9 million. According to Jennifer Beron of Compass, the exact listing price is $10.950 million. For the best part, 17-time All-Star LeBron James lives nearby. In fact, James is his neighbor. The three-story mansion has a fancy underground pool, home theater, nine bathrooms, six bedrooms and a nice gymnasium. In addition to the aforementioned features, Buss also has a wine cellar and bar. Furthermore, Buss bought the property back in 2018.

The two-time All-Star purchased the luxury residence in 2016 for $1,274,000, after being drafted by the Orlando Magic.

The fully renovated 11,709-square-foot mansion is the only move-in-ready residence available on the prestigious North Bay Road in Miami Beach. In what could be another sign that Ben Simmons is serious about not returning to the Philadelphia area, the 76ers point guard put one of his residences up for sale and according to sources discussed the possibility of selling the other one. His place at The Ritz-Carlton Residences of Philadelphia was listed on Sunday for $3.1 million.
Sources added if he decides to sell his Moorestown home he could list for $4.9 million. He paid around $2.275 million for the South Jersey home that needed some work. Simmons purchased his place at the Ritz for $2.54 million in 2018.
The Sixers withheld $8.25 million of his salary Friday and placed the payment in an escrow account. Sources have said that was an option as the Sixers looked to ensure any fines for his training camp no-show and games missed could be deducted from that account moving forward.
Former NBA player and Detroit native Chris Webber broke ground on a $50 million facility cannabis facility in Detroit’s Corktown neighborhood Tuesday morning. The facility will be known as Players Only Holdings and will focus on real estate development, cannabis cultivation, brand partnerships, and creative content development and management.
After being passed from NBA player to NBA player, this Woodland Hills home just traded hands for the third time in three years — this time for $3.7 million. The seller was NBA big man Thomas Bryant, who bought it from his former teammate Jordan Clarkson for $3.25 million last summer. The pair played for the Lakers together during the 2017-18 season.
For whatever reason, Woodland Hills has become a regular landing spot for NBA players. Recent residents of the San Fernando Valley neighborhood include Caron Butler, Kenyon Martin and Chris Paul, who sold his Mediterranean-style estate with a basketball court for $1.95 million in 2018.
The New York Knicks’ Evan Fournier is no longer a player in Orlando’s housing market. The former Orlando Magic player on Sept. 1 sold his Winter Park home at 1711 Via Tuscany for $2.7 million, according to documents filed with Orange County Sept. 2. According to Orange County Property Appraiser records, that was the last Orange County property owned by Fournier, who was traded by the Magic to the Boston Celtics in March.
The home drew a purchase price 17% higher than it originally cost, as Fournier and his wife Laura Kebe bought the home for $2.3 million in 2016. Of course, the median home price in Central Florida’s hot housing market shot up 55% from July 2016 to July 2021, according to the Orlando Regional Realtor Association. This is the second Central Florida home Fournier sold since January. In February, he sold a 6,384-square-foot Winter Park home to fellow NBA player Courtney Lee for $3.05 million.

The Boguts purchased the house opposite Henley Park in almost new condition in 2018 for $3.5 million – no finance required – after they returned to live in Australia after almost 20 years playing in the United States.

Bill Russell, the most decorated player in NBA history, is selling his longtime home on Mercer Island. Realogics Sotheby’s International Realty Managing broker Eddie Chang has the $2.6 million listing. Russell has lived in the house for almost 50 years.
“I was offered the head coaching job with the Sonics in 1974. When I took the job I was a single parent and chose Mercer Island because it had the best schools in the Pacific Northwest,” Russell told the Business Journal by email. “The house was not built for me. I was actually looking at the house next door, but it was not private enough. I not only purchased this house but the two lots above me for the added privacy, and a number of years ago sold them but still maintained my privacy here at the house.”
Russell won 11 NBA titles in his 13 seasons with the Boston Celtics. He became the first Black coach of a major professional team in America when he was named the player-coach of the Celtics in 1966. “I have left behind my trophy case and an autographed ball for the next owner, and I hope they enjoy the home as much as I have over the last almost 50 years,” he said.
The San Antonio Spurs, in partnership with other investors, plan to transform nearly 50 acres near Six Flags Fiesta into the Human Performance Campus, which will include new training facilities for the NBA team, as well as a mix of medical, research, retail, office and park development.
The landmark project will cost approximately $510 million to construct and could temper concerns that the city’s lone major league sports franchise is a target for relocation, while also positioning San Antonio as a major hub for sports- and performance-related science and medicine. “For many years we have been working on this project,” said R.C. Buford, CEO of Spurs Sports & Entertainment.
The Brooklyn Park City Council gave the green light to Devean George’s nonprofit, Building Blocks, to build an 83-unit, five-story apartment building at 7621 Brooklyn Boulevard North. The building would also have space for a restaurant and retail on the bottom level, and 20 percent of the units would be affordable.

But it was a different story this week when he and his family faced off with the city’s Historic District Landmarks Commission, which swatted away their plan to add a home theater, a workout space and other rooms on top of a 233-year-old Garden District mansion they bought last year.
HDLC approval was required because adding a level to the First Street house would have required the removal of 62% of the home’s existing roof, and part of the addition would have been visible from the street. At a virtual hearing Wednesday, the HDLC unanimously dunked the request after expressing concern about the “precedent” it would set for other properties in the historic district, home to some of the grandest houses in New Orleans.

Michael Jordan hasn’t slam-dunked a buyer on his Illinois mansion in its nine years on the market, The Post has learned. Jordan, 58, purchased the Highland Park estate with his wife at the time, Juanita Vanoy, in 1991 for $2 million – the same year he won his first of six NBA championships with the Chicago Bulls.
Jordan initially listed the 7-acre home in 2012 for a whopping $29 million. But without any offers, the nine-bedroom, 16-bathroom abode is now on the market for $14,855,000. In 2013, one year after the property first hit the market, the price fell to $21 million. It was then relisted the same year for $16 million. It was sold by Stoudemire’s Carsares Trust.
Kyle Lowry was asking $5.3 million for his Toronto home. This week, it sold firm for $5.12 million. That’s a shade less than the $5.25 million Lowry paid for the property in 2017, the same summer he signed the biggest deal of his career — a three-year contract worth $100 million to play point guard for Toronto’s NBA team.

After five seasons in the front office for the NBA's Sacramento Kings, the former NBA center Vlade Divac was shown the door in August 2020. Now Divac is divesting his real estate holdings in the capital city. He's put his downtown Sacramento home on the market for $1.65 million.
Divac purchased the downtown digs in April 2018 for $910,000 in the middle of his tenure as the general manager of the Kings. He's also lived in the neighboring Sacramento County town of Carmichael. In 2016, Carmichael's Chamber of Commerce named him "Person of the Year." His former residence in Pacific Palisades recently sold again in November, for $3,436,000. Anthony Davis is making passes on and off the court this season. The Lakers big man, who inked a five-year deal worth $190 million with the team in December, just sold his Westlake Village mansion for $6.6 million. It’s a relatively short stay for Davis; records show he picked up the property in 2018 and was traded to the Lakers a year later.
Tristan Thompson looks to be parting with his Ohio home as well. The home, which resides along the water in the village of Bratenahl, is on the market for $3.25 million, a big leap from what Thompson paid in 2015, which was $1.9 million, Realtor.com reported, making the home the most expensive in Bratenahl.
It took some patience — six long months of patience — but Paul “PG-13” George has finally managed to unload his mammoth mansion out in guard-gated Hidden Hills, deep within L.A.’s San Fernando Valley. The 1.35-acre property went for $8.4 million, a cut under the $9.5 million asking price but still significantly more than the $7.4 million paid back in 2016 by the NBA baller and his longtime partner, former stripper Daniela Rajic.
Former Chicago Bulls center Joakim Noah on Dec. 15 sold his five-bedroom, 5,018-square-foot house in Bannockburn for $1.09 million.
Noah took a substantial loss on the Bannockburn house, which he bought for $1.5 million in 2008. He listed the house for $1.44 million in September and then cut his asking price to $1.37 million in October.
With all the Los Angeles real estate moves Blake Griffin is making, you’d think he’s still a Clipper. The Detroit Pistons star just bought his second Brentwood home this year right before the start of the NBA season, shelling out $5.87 million for a 1930s traditional.
If he wants to visit his other Brentwood home, all he’ll have to do is hop the fence out back. His new spot sits directly behind his other one, a modern farmhouse that he bought in the spring for $19.1 million. If he combines the two lots, the compound will exceed an acre.

Windhorst went on to say the Nets aren’t coming off asking for a big return for Durant in a trade. And that Brooklyn has no leverage with other teams, same as Durant has no leverage with the Nets. “I think what we have here is really a study of leverage. First off, the Nets do not have leverage in trade talks with other teams. They are not giving them the offers that they want. They see no reason to increase them. So, they’re not making any progress there,” said Windhorst. “Kevin Durant clearly does not have leverage with the Brooklyn Nets. He is asking for things: ‘Get me traded. Fire the coach. Fire the GM.’ He is being told no. So, when you have denied leverage, you have a stalemate.”
When it comes to Simmons, his unique skill set is incredibly enticing, but his best ability will be availability. Fortunately, according to ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith, that won’t be a problem for Simmons in 2022-23: “You and Kyrie and Ben Simmons — who, by the way, news flash here. I ran into Ben Simmons. He and I had a nice conversation … I support the brother. I had a problem with him not playing. That’s the past. He’s ready to go. He swears he’s ready to go.”
