NBA rumors: Bryn Forbes to Nuggets, Juan Hernangomez to Spurs in three-way trade

More on Bol Bol Trade?

Brian Robb: Celtics acquiring an injured Bol Bol and PJ Dozier is effectively a salary dump for the present. Allows team to cut about $4 million in salary (avoiding tax territory) and maybe get a look at some intriguing young guys once they get healthy. Assume 2nd round pick sent out too.
Shams Charania: Denver Nuggets forward Bol Bol has decided to undergo surgery on his foot and will be sidelined for 8-to-12 weeks, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. Bol’s trade to Detroit was voided last week because of issue with physical exam.
After learning that the Pistons voided the Bol Bol deal, Motiejunas spoke out about the situation. "I was failed on physicals and told by Detroit doctors I will not play basketball again. Six years later, I am still here and have many years to go," Motiejunas tweeted. "They [are] destroying young players' names and futures in [the] NBA by doing this..."
Motiejunas has spent the last few years playing overseas, and he pointed out that his value took a hit after the Pistons' doctors determined that he failed his physical. "No one looked at me the same after that situation," he tweeted. "How many times [will] the NBPA let this happen? They are destroying young players' careers... When stuff like that happens, you [can't] stay quiet."
Mike Singer: Breaking: The Bol Bol trade to Detroit is off, league source tells @denverpost.
Adrian Wojnarowski: Denver's Bol Bol trade with Detroit has been voided, sources tell ESPN. The Pistons didn't pass Bol on his physical with team.
The Detroit Pistons are acquiring 7-foot-2 Bol Bol in a trade with the Denver Nuggets, sources told ESPN on Sunday. Detroit will send Rodney McGruder and a 2022 second-round pick via the Brooklyn Nets for Bol, sources said. Bol, 22, has shown flashes of promise with Denver, but has never found traction in a deep and talented Nuggets frontcourt. Detroit will give Bol an opportunity to get more consistent minutes as it continues to gather up young talent as part of its rebuild.

Denver has repeatedly been mentioned by league sources as a Ball suitor, rumored to have offered Bol Bol in those early conversations. Yet New Orleans did have the opportunity to select the Oregon product in the 2019 draft, plus the opportunity to sign him to a two-way contract, sources said, and the Pelicans came away with Brazilian combo guard Didi Louzada instead.

Darvin Ham has made strongest impression in Lakers' coaching search

The Lakers appear poised to make a decision on their coaching position soon, with Milwaukee Bucks assistant Darvin Ham, Golden State Warriors assistant Kenny Atkinson and former Portland Trail Blazers coach Terry Stotts the finalists for the job that became vacant when Frank Vogel was fired at season’s end. But as the final round of interviews is set, sources tell The Athletic that Ham appears to have made the strongest impression yet.

In terms of the Lakers’ preferences, sources say team officials have prioritized a coach who can command respect and authority from the locker room and who has a strong enough presence and voice to manage the varying roles and relationships across the roster. Those characteristics bode well for Ham’s candidacy. Throughout assistant coaching stops with the Lakers, Hawks and Bucks, Ham has been known for his no-nonsense style and ability to resonate with his players — attributes that have stood out in his communication with the Lakers thus far as well, sources said.
