Jim Owczarski: George Hill is still going to start for the #Bucks, even as Jrue Holiday is expected to play. Hill joins Thanasis Antetokounmpo and Pat Connaughton again with Giannis Antetokounmpo and Grayson Allen. Sandro Mamukelashvili will not be active.
Eric Nehm: Lengthy injury list for the Bucks for tomorrow night in Detroit. The following players are OUT: - Donte DiVincenzo (left ankle injury recovery) - Jrue Holiday (left ankle sprain) - Brook Lopez (back soreness) - Khris Middleton (health and safety protocols)
Eric Nehm: Just chatted with Bucks coach Mike Budenholzer. He told reporters he does not expect Jrue Holiday or Brook Lopez to play this weekend. The Bucks have a back-to-back against San Antonio and Utah on Saturday and Sunday.
Jim Owczarski: #Bucks head coach Mike Budenholzer said guard Jrue Holiday has a heel contusion and a MRI came back clean. “Everything’s been good, positive.”
“We’ve lost one of the best players on the team and playmakers and best defenders on the team is not playing with us,” Giannis Antetokounmpo said. “It’s not an excuse, I’m not the guy that keeps excuses, but he’s a big part of who we are. We need him. We need him back when it’s safe for him to play. That doesn’t mean when he comes back we’re going to play better because it’s a team, it’s a group, but it’s going to make it a lot easier for Khris (Middleton), for me, for Jrue, for Donte (DiVincenzo), for Bryn, for everybody else offensively and defensively.”
Scott Kushner: Jrue Holiday will miss his seventh consecutive game due to a left elbow tricep strain, according to Pels injury report. This is getting a bit bizarre. Okafor, Williams also still out. Redick is questionable.
Andrew Lopez: Jrue Holiday is in fact OUT tonight for the Pelicans with a left knee sprain, I’m told. Big blow for the Pelicans against Harden.
Andrew Lopez: Injury happened when Jrue turned his ankle late against the Mavericks. Don’t believe it’s a major injury. But he was sore today.
Bobby Marks: Despite missing the remainder of the season after surgery to repair a core muscle injury, Jrue Holiday will meet the bonus criteria for assists per game. After missing the bonus in 2017-18, Holiday will earn $255K for averaging at least 7.3 rebounds and appearing in 67 games. The New Orleans guard has now met four sets of bonus criteria in his contract- games played, minutes, rebounds and now assists. Holiday can also earn an additional $100K if he is named All-Defensive 1st or 2nd Team. His current cap hit for 2019-20 is now $26,231,111.
Will Guillory: This will be the first game Holiday has missed this season. Big opportunity for guys like Ian Clark, E'Twaun Moore
One year and four days after that game, he was sidelined again. This time it was a stress reaction, a weakening of a bone that is often a precursor to a stress fracture. "I know the rod's in there to be able to protect my bone, and it's supposed to take pressure off my shin so that with that rod in there, my leg will never break," Holiday says. "But to have the reaction kind of on the side, it was weird and frustrating because I thought the hardest part was over. Being injured and having to sit out, not knowing why this is happening, and then this kind of hit. It was ... yeah, it was frustrating."
