Adam Wexler: #Rockets Danuel House & Tyson Chandler are listed OUT for tonight's game 5; House (personal reasons) & Chandler (neck/spasms). League announced yesterday House left the bubble & will not participate in games the rest of the playoffs.
The Rockets trail the Lakers, 3-1, in their best-of-seven series, with Game 5 scheduled for Saturday night. The unauthorized guest was a woman who had worked on campus several weeks ago as a temperature checker, according to a person who was briefed on the investigation but was not authorized to publicly discuss it. It was not clear how she had managed to gain access to the property, which has secure checkpoints around the perimeter. But House propped one of the hotel doors open for her, the person said.
Kelly Iko: D’Antoni on whether House will play again this series: “The investigation is going on. So when they come out with the ruling, we’ll go from there”
Spencer Dinwiddie: Obviously I wasn’t in the bubble so I don’t know the official rules and that’s my disclaimer. But from the outside looking in *no pun intended* If she’s permitted to be in the bubble, and he’s permitted to be in the bubble. Grown ppl can make safe decisions... *pun intended*
ESPN reported on Wednesday that House’s status for the remainder of the Western Conference semifinals is in jeopardy due to the investigation. Yahoo Sports! reported on Thursday morning that the league is investigating House for allegedly allowing a female testing official into his hotel room.
Here is what The Athletic has been able to confirm via multiple sources: A female entered the Rockets’ team hotel on Monday night, passing multiple security checkpoints before being flagged for her entry, sources said. She exited the hotel in the early hours of Tuesday morning, and the league cited early data points that implicated two members of the Rockets, House and Tyson Chandler, sources said. When the female was questioned by NBA security, she did not implicate House’s name and it is uncertain whether she remains on campus, sources said. She claimed to have contact with Chandler and another player, not named House, according to sources.
Chandler was cleared on Wednesday and was not listed on the team’s injury report for Thursday’s Game 4, where House was listed out. The league’s investigation cleared Chandler and focused toward House on Wednesday, sources said. “This is done out of precaution and making sure the NBA’s campus standards are upheld,” one source with knowledge told The Athletic.
House maintains his innocence, sources said, and a decision from the league is expected before Game 4 on Thursday.
Opposing teams are closely monitoring how the league handles this situation. The Rockets are the lone remaining team staying at Walt Disney World’s Grand Floridian Resort, which is where the team undergoes its daily testing.
