Tony Wroten: First I'd like to give a big thanks to the Philadelphia organization for giving me the opportunity to prove that I was good enough to play and have success in this league. Thanks coach Brown for being so patient with me and helping me develop. 2nd I want to thank the NY Knicks organization and Mr phil Jackson for giving me another opportunity to play this game again at the highest level and in a city that loves basketball more than any other city. Those who know me know playing in the garden is a dream come true. Being able to play in this league is such prestigious privilege that I once took for granted. NEVER AGAIN. #TheMecca #5

Marc Berman: Knicks make it official with Tony Wroten but no expectation he plays until summer league. Jackson said similar situation to Ledo.
Ian Begley: The Knicks' deal with Tony Wroten is for two seasons and the second season (16-17) is partially guaranteed, per league sources.
Eric Pincus: If Tony Wroten is on a two-year deal - should be roughly $167,406 and $1,050,961, respectively New York Knicks @BBallInsiders
Jackson also said the Knicks will sign Tony Wroten, though Jackson admitted he “needs a lot of medical attention” and likely won’t play this season. The plan is to have Wroten on the Knicks’ summer league team so they can take a look at him.
The Knicks are planning to bring on former 76ers point guard Tony Wroten as an audition for at least the remainder of the season, even if he would see minimal if any playing time. Though the Knicks are negotiating a two-year deal at the NBA minimum, there’s no assurance he’ll be on the roster next season as they determine if he’ll be a good point guard fit in their triangle offense. The second year is not expected to be guaranteed, making him a very low risk. And according to a source, Wroten, who’s coming off a partially torn ACL from last season, is no guarantee to see any game action as the club wants him to strengthen the leg.
The plan is to develop Wroten, who turns 23 in April and was released by the Sixers in January, and perhaps bring him to the summer league. Wroten didn’t make the trip to Denver and is not expected to join the Knicks on their five-game road trip this week. The Knicks had been hesitant about giving him a 10-day contract prior, feeling he wouldn’t make the rotation as they strove to make a playoff push. But now the philosophy is more on development. If Wroten gets acclimated in time, that could mean the Knicks go away from using Jose Calderon next season if he’s still on the roster. He has one year left on his contract but could be waived in a stretch provision after the year.
According to sources, the Knicks consider Wroten a good defender who is active in the passing lanes. However, Wroten, who played at Washington, was mired in a horrible situation in Philly, where he was their leading scorer last season at 16.9 points per game in 30 contests. He has played in 145 games in parts of four seasons, starting his career in Memphis.
Ian Begley: The Knicks' deal with Tony Wroten, when completed, is expected to be for 2 years, per league sources. 2nd year will not be fully guaranteed.
Marc Berman: It's not a 3-year deal but 2-year deal and not only will not join club for road trip, source says no assurance he plays because of injury.
Ian Begley: Hearing the Knicks deal with Tony Wroten is expected to be finalized some time later this week.
Steve Kyler: Have not heard the terms on Wroten deal with Knicks but was told he was completely opposed to 10-day deal hence why this took so long
Shams Charania: Free agent Tony Wroten and the New York Knicks are finalizing a three-year contract, league sources tell The Vertical.
The Knicks interviewed Wroten last weekened in New York. Fredette's 10-day contract expires on Thursday. He's made just one appearance with the Knicks, playing the final 1:49 of a loss to Toronto. The following day, interim head coach Kurt Rambis said that Fredette was getting "pushed around a little" on defense during scrimmages.
If the Heat waits until March 7/8, the Heat will consider players from a list it has compiled –-- one that includes Dorell Wright, Wroten, Jordan Crawford, Jason Thompson, D-League players and some others likely to be available.
Barry Jackson: Miami has made due diligence calls on Wroten, kept tabs on John Lucas and others.Would obviously be natural to add PG if tax weren't factor.
The Heat made a due-diligence check-in recently on free agent 6-6 combo guard Tony Wroten, who was cut by Philadelphia Dec. 24, but hadn’t made an offer as of Thursday morning. He has averaged 11.1 points in four seasons, including 16.9 last season. He's probably the best unsigned perimeter player available at the moment.
According to a person familiar with the club’s thought process, the available players, including point guard Tony Wroten, wouldn’t crack the rotation, so a 10-day contract would be wasteful. If a rotation player sustained a serious injury, then the club would act — possibly on Wroten or Jimmer Fredette — pending the position of need. If Lance Thomas’ left-knee injury were deemed more serious, the Knicks probably would have signed somebody.
Wroten, cut by the Sixers last month, tweeted the other day a picture of himself in a Knicks uniform, then deleted it. The Knicks have some interest because they consider him a good penetrator, an active defender, strong in the passing lanes, but also are concerned about his tendency to gamble on defense.
Steve Kyler: Was told Tony Wroten not very likely for the Knicks. He's looking for a spot he could potentially stick twitter.com/MicDropJackson…
The Knicks had inquired about former 76ers point guard Tony Wroten, a free agent who was waived two weeks ago. Wroten himself sparked rumors he was close to a Knicks deal by tweeting “#Tape’’ Sunday — with the conspiracy theory it was a reference to #Knickstape — the anthem for online Knicks fans. But a league source said nothing was happening on that front. Wroten has several other suitors.
New York is one of several teams that has looked into signing free-agent guard Tony Wroten, sources say. The degree of their interest in Wroten is unclear at this point.
The Knicks are among several teams who've looked into the possibility of signing free agent guard Tony Wroten, league sources familiar with the team's thinking say.
The Knicks' level of interest in Wroten, who was released by Philadelphia earlier this month, is unclear at this point. But sources say that the club has expressed interest in obtaining a guard via trade or free-agent signing in recent days.
New York (14-18) has 14 players under contract so the club can add Wroten without moving another player. Wroten averaged 8.4 points and 2.5 assists in 18 minutes per game with Philadelphia this season. He's played in 8 games in 2015-16 after being sidelined for the last 10 months with an ACL injury.
Tony Wroten: Wanna thank the whole philly community, coaching staff, and all my teammates. Enjoyed my time in philly. Going to miss my guys. But....... Will show them what mistake they've made. #SavageSzn
In a related move, the Sixers waived guard Tony Wroten.
Marc J. Spears: The Sixers are releasing guard Tony Wroten to make room for acquired guard Ish Smith, a source told Yahoo Sports.
All signs point to the Sixers not offering Wroten a rookie-deal extension prior to Monday’s early deadline. As a result, it appears the 22-year-old will become an restricted free agent in the summer. He would, however, become unrestricted if the Sixers don’t extend the $3.2 million qualifying offer by June 30 he’s in line to make. It’s common for NBA teams to not offer early rookie-deal extensions. Of the 30 first-rounders in the 2012 draft class, Wroten is one of 17 that have yet to receive extensions.
“I’m not really focused on that,” he said. “I’m focused on my rehab and helping my team get better on and off the court. “That’s not even on my mind, right now.”
