There are several scenarios that will secure a Nets playoff berth, but the simplest would be winning their last regular-season game at home against the Heat. Brooklyn is 0-2 against the Pacers so far this season and 1-2 against Miami. Miami is currently on a three-game losing streak and on the outside of the playoffs looking in. The Heat's recent injuries might help bolster Brooklyn's case. Josh Richardson -- who is averaging a career-high 16.6 points for the Heat -- is expected to be out the next two weeks with a groin injury.
Tim Reynolds: Injury updates Josh Richardson has a left hip strain, will not travel and will be re-evaluated Monday. Dion Waiters has a precautionary MRI on left knee which was Negative. Probable for tomorrow. Derrick Jones Jr. has a right knee bone bruise. Questionable for tomorrow.
Tom Westerholm: Josh Richardson is in a whole lot of pain. Tried to play a possession, then called for a sub (and called and called and called, because I don’t think Spo saw it).
With lineup mainstay Josh Richardson in a walking boot and not with the Miami Heat for their two-game trip to New York and Boston, coach Erik Spoelstra declined to address whether it is a season-ending injury. "I don't have a new update," Spoelstra said in advance of Saturday night's game against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden, with Richardson listed out with a bruised left heel.
"That's part of his treatment," Spoelstra said, with Saturday the second game Richardson has missed with the injury. "He also has quite a bit of the treatment without the boot during the day and working. But there is not a timeline."
Winslow now has missed the past eight games, including Saturday in New York, with a bruised left thigh. McGruder has missed the past seven with a sore left knee. "As much treatment, work as they can get, around the clock, that's their focus right now," Spoelstra said of the three players left behind.
Ira Winderman: Spoelstra says Josh Richardson will play.
Anthony Chiang: On latest Heat injury report, Wayne Ellington is listed as probable for Monday’s game vs. Lakers. Josh Richardson and Tyler Johnson are questionable. Hassan Whiteside and Dion Waiters still out. Goran Dragic is not on the injury report after missing Saturday’s game for rest.

Anthony Chiang: Josh Richardson continues to progress, but he will not play tonight vs. Hornets, according to Erik Spoelstra.
Ira Winderman: Wade on Richardson’s 60-40 to play, “That’s a good percentage at this time of year.”
Shams Charania: Sources: Miami guard Josh Richardson has suffered a sprained AC joint in his left shoulder, but plans to play in Game 5 on Tuesday. Richardson has been one of NBA's top defensive players.

Spoelstra said guard Josh Richardson, who has been recovering from a partially torn MCL in his right knee since Sept. 9, was "able to get out there and do a decent portion of the non-contact work" Monday. But it's clear the Heat are not going to push him very hard to be ready for the season opener on Oct. 26. The team prefers he heals correctly and avoids a setback. "I think it would be a very optimistic, aggressive schedule," Spoelstra responded when asked if it's realistic to think Richardson could play in the opener. "We want to make sure he's feeling full comfortable, fully conditioned and that he really trusts his leg. He's never been really injured before. So, that's also new to him."
Manny Navarro: Erik Spoelstra said Heat continue to guard against Josh Richardson's returning too quickly. That's why they won't discuss a timetable. "There's no pain in all that he's doing. We just want to make sure we keep it that way."
Shams Charania: Miami guard Josh Richardson has sustained a partially torn MCL in right knee, league sources tell The Vertical. Return time based on rehab.
