NBA rumors: Kenneth Faried to Russia

Kenneth Faried has penned a deal with CSKA Moscow, his previous team, Leones de Ponce announced Friday evening. The Russian powerhouse confirmed his addition on Saturday morning. The newcomer inked a contract for the next two months with an option to extend for the remainder of the 2021-22 season. “I am excited to be a part of the NBA team of EuroLeague and such a big organization such as CSKA Moscow,” he said, “I am excited to be able to contribute with my presence to help achieve many mutual goals together and I am appreciative for the opportunity to play.”

More on Kenneth Faried Free Agency

“We have our ears and eyes open on the market, we had two spots on the roster available,” pointed out Itoudis, “Faried is well-known for his aggressivity on the defensive end, on boards, etc. He is going to bring his energy and enthusiasm. Though he has accomplished a lot in his life he still has the eagerness and competitiveness in his soul. We have talked also extensively last year, he was on our radar but it did not happen then. We welcome Kenneth to our club, he knows the obligations. We are looking forward to this cooperation.”
JD Shaw: Free agent Kenneth Faried has signed in Puerto Rico with Leones de Ponce, the team announced. Faried, an eight-year NBA veteran, most recently played summer league with the Trail Blazers in Las Vegas.
Emiliano Carchia: Guangsha offered Kenneth Faried a $2 million contract but the player turned it down, a source told @Emiliano Carchia. The Chinese team may increase the proposal to convince the forward to move to China
Rivers has long spoken of his happiness playing in Houston, but there will be far more lucrative offers elsewhere. It’s 50/50 on him to return, but team sources are already resigned that keeping Rivers and Faried would be difficult because of the market and that other teams are able to offer more. Both players went from bad experiences to good ones, and Houston would be happy to see them get paydays elsewhere.
Jonathan Feigen: If the Rockets can land a bargain at that price it could be a significant move, but failing that, they could dip into that to try to bring back Austin Rivers, who became their sixth man. There are holes to fill, however. The Rockets really did not have a backup power forward and were very thin and inexperienced at small forward, relying on Danuel House Jr. and three-guard lineups. They also might need to bolster their options at center, with Nenê generally limited to half the season, Kenneth Faried a free agent and Isaiah Hartenstein, though progressing, still a project. They also can make some strides in their level of play, particularly for Capela who disappointed against the Warriors.
Albert Nahmad: Kenneth Faried is set to clear waivers at 5:00 pm EST today. If the Rockets want to sign him before tonight’s game, they’ll need to first clear a roster spot. If they can’t find a Carmelo Anthony trade in that span of time, they’ll just terminate James Nunnally’s 10-day contract.
Jonathan Feigen: Rockets assign center Isaiah Hartenstein to the Vipers in the G League. With Capela out, and the Rockets sending Hartenstein to RGV it is almost as if they plan to add a center soon.
Kristian Winfield: Nets have officially requested waivers on Kenneth Faried. If he clears waivers after 48 hours, he'll officially become an unrestricted free agent. Multiple reports suggest Faried is headed to Houston.

The Rockets plan to immediately insert Faried into the lineup as a stopgap big man to help replace some of the defense and rebounding lost with starting center Clint Capela, who is expected to be out several weeks following surgery on his right thumb. Faried will be released Saturday, sources said, with his $13.7 million salary expected to clear waivers on Monday.
Jonathan Feigen: Rockets will sign Nets center Kenneth Faried next week after he clears waivers, source confirms. @Adrian Wojnarowski reported first. Rockets in need of a center help with Capela out. Faried can rebound, pick-and-roll. Will sign for balance of the season.
Adrian Wojnarowski: Brooklyn's Kenneth Faried has agreed to a contract buyout with the Brooklyn Nets, clearing the way for him to sign a free agent deal with the Houston Rockets, league sources tell ESPN. Faried expected to be waived on Saturday and clear on Monday.
Adrian Wojnarowski: The Rockets will have until Monday to clear a roster spot for Faried. He's expected to move into the Rockets lineup with significant minutes immediately with absence of Clint Capela, league sources said.

Several Pacers starters on the move?

Multiple sources said that the Pacers are receptive in trade dialogue with rival teams centered on potentially moving guard Caris LeVert and either two-time All-Star Domantas Sabonis or center Myles Turner. All three players have frequently garnered significant interest from rival teams. Pacers officials have received frequent calls on both of their big men over the past several seasons, but new head coach Rick Carlisle wanted an opportunity to spend time with Sabonis and Turner and grow with the roster.
