He was cut by the Knicks in training camp with the idea he would play in Westchester and perhaps be re-signed. Ron Baker, who is not in the rotation, took Randle’s spot. “We’re not going to bring him up unless someone has an injury,’’ Hornacek said. “He’s doing a great job down there, had a nice game [Wednesday] night. Of course, we have an eye on him. With the group we have now with 15 guys, more than likely it’d be an injury for him to come up.’’

Peter Edmiston: Interesting quote from our talk w/ Griz GM Chris Wallace about philosophy on who to call up from the D-League. CHRIS WALLACE ON PHILOSOPHY OF D-LEAGUE CALL-UPS: "Some teams say 'Hey, we want an older guy who's going to make a minimum amount of mistakes, learn the system right away. We're not worried about any upside from a young guy who might become a rotation player down the road'. We've taken a little different track. We've wanted younger guys to take a look at, and that's sort of been my history in call-ups. I've been involved in more call-ups than I can remember from my days in Miami, Boston, and now here, and the best ones - like when we brought Bruce Bowen into Miami, Adrian Griffin and Mark Blount into Boston - those were young guys wto have not had a tremendous amount of opportunities. They had not had the opportunities to be rejected and fail like some of the older guys, and we got lucky and hit some of those players and they never went back down."
